Love this hotel out door onsen while snow fall is so great , very good food very full, good staff really willing to service
everything is excellent & good staff nice service. we like to return back.
The onsen was spectacular! The setting and pools are both beautiful
The rooms are very old and dated. I did not like seeing three beard being kept in cages on the property.
Location, view and smile
The staff, the food, the room, the amazing onsen, the snow, the yakatas were all great!
The bears in the cages were very sad and they were going crazy in their tiny cages. I wish they would relocate them into the wild where they belong.
nature onsen pools free shuttle bus free high speed wifi very friendly staff English speaking staff traditional Japanese style hotel
The room, the onsen, the staffs are excellent.
dinner food was just fair.
Spend 2 days at the Onsen in snowy winter conditions. Beautiful, peaceful experience sitting in the hot baths watching the snow fall. Also a great cultural experience with authentic Japanese rooms, robes and dining experience.
The location and the onsens are great. The dinner was great, too!
The building is bigger than expected and not very nice from the architectural point of view (but from the river is ok). I would have expected more attention to some services: more towels after the bath, common areas (and toilets in particular) terribly cold.
the onsen are so nice. we enjoy beautiful scenery with cool air and warm water. this is the best onsen i have ever experienced. Love it!!
The indoor onsen at the was great. Outside the box water was cool due to snow #firstworldproblem
Nice onsen hotel.
Would be nice when the hotel would provide one western menu as alternative to the japanese food.
It is quite a trip up the mountain, but the train system + courtesy bus was easy. The reward is a sleepy little mountain town set on the river. Such beautiful countryside! Staff were highly helpful although had minimum English. The food included in the price was incredible - multiple courses of Japanese style dinner which you BBQ on your table. Choice of western or Japanese breakfast, again with large quantities of food. The onsen are stunning! Ladies are given a towel dress to wear in the water and I felt compfortable in the mixed baths. Different spa areas to choose from with varying views and temperatures.
If you care for animals, request a room not overlooking the caged bears. It was heartbreaking to see them pacing in circles all day in their tiny cages. We polietly refused the bear soup. Be prepared to shower in the nude with other guests (gender separated).
Great outdoor baths in a beautiful setting, especially in autumn. Excellent food and very friendly staff. I will definitely come back.
Outdoor natural onsen makes me and my family impressed. Including take care and services in details of every oficers.
The open-air baths are stunning. We went there at the beginning of November, and it was just so beautiful, with all those autumn colours. Our room was small but big enough, with beautiful views to the river and the mountain in the front. We really recommend it.
Wearing the yukata and the traditional Japanese food! The hot springs were lovely and relaxing rght by the river.
Mosquitoes! But just bring some mozzy spray.
1.staff - always reply every email and suggest the place around here.every staffs are friendly. 2.bedroom - warm and japanese style. 3.onsen - 3 mix pool and 1 lady pool outdoor / 1 public bath. I love it.
actually every hotel in Japan has this problem. It is smoking smell. Even though you choose non-smoke.
Warly welcome, good food, good environment
River side rooms, friendly staff, great food. Good soaking. Cozy and simple.
Too much food. TV in room.
What's not to like? We booked the cheapest option and it was great value. The room was small but lovely, with an amazing view. A bit dated, but it only adds to the general charm. The rotemburo was excelent, just by the river; there is a small one only for women and three mixed. You can use them at night and that was probably the best experience of our whole trip. Simply amazing. The food was very good and the service excelent. There is a lady who speaks a very goor English, which makes everything easier for us foreigner who, sadly, can't speak Japanese. A very welcoming staff. They'll pick you up at Jomo Kogen or Minakami station (you can just phone them on the day you arrive). We chose de Jomo Kogen option, which is only one hour from Tokyo. From there you have a 50 minutes ride to the hotel.
This is not a problem, but keep in mind that you will likely find some insects, since the place is sorrounded by trees and just by the river. Not a big deal anyway and should not detract from a perfect stay. This is a usual policy for ryokan, but you must know they'll let you check-in from 15.00 and the check-out is at 10.00.
The onsens were excellent. The room was fine. The food was good.
Whatever the story is behind the bears on the premises, we cannot approve severel black bears being held in small cages looking miserable. Downgrades the entire stay....shame..unacceptable.
The staff was great - very good English. The baths, the best so far - imagine sitting in a hot springs looking over the moon. Fantastic and very Japanese dinner and breakfast.
Some may say that 08:00 sharp for breakfast may be little too early. The building itself may require a bit of refresh.
The peacefulness of the place, the aura, the kindness of the staff, the exquisite food.
I appreciated everything.
