onsen and free massage chair
We stay at local style room with thin matt sleep on the floor is very uncomfortable. Most dishes of the set dinner is cold and the food is just ok.
Futon was thin and no options for pillows. Only Barley pillows. Breakfast was not served in room for true authentic experience
Friendly and helpful staff members Vert good location close to all facilities ( restaurant, bus stop , shopping Area ...)
Early Check out (10am)
Beautiful hotel. Traditional japonese. So quiet at night. Perfect location. Kind staff. Perfect.
No internet connection in the rooms, only at lobby
The experience is awesome. Friendly staff, good food and value for money.
None that I can think of.
Great location nearby abundant food sources and tourist attractions (pagoda, shrines, markets, shops, edo streets, geisha).
Spacious Japanese-style room, accommodating and helpful staff and a nice Onsen
Onsen is a bit small at the top floor.
The staff were really pleasant and helpful; the rooms were nicely furnished; It had a lovely bathing room on the roof; The price was reasonable; The location was very charming with tree lined streets and nice cafes nearby. Walking distance to Gion district; Good bike rental nearby.
The location was fantastic! Nice strolls to be made in the street where it's located and at the back of it you can stroll by the river to get to the main bridges. One young girl from the staff was super friendly and helpful! The japanese style room items was okay but...
...with a view on the roof and back of some restaurant we kept the windows closed at all times. An older lady from the staff wasn't as helpful and even told the younger girl she couldn't help us find a restaurant to eat and because of her unwillingness to help we missed a festival we so badly wanted to see :/
we 5 gals stayed at the suite for 2 nights. we totally enjoyed our stay. the breakfast is yummy. the location is good. the view from the 5th floor bath is great.
the 7th floor bath is abit disappointing, too small.
I'm used to western style hotels so I have no basis for comparison. I enjoyed it for the novelty factor alone.
Few bus stops away from everything. Tucked nicely behind main road so it was quiet, and the street was cute with lots of trees. I enjoy the public bath. We also can store our luggage there for few hours.
Comfortable Japanese style room with separate bath room and toilet. Worth trying!
This hotel is quite close to the famous geisha area and easy to get bus to major sight seeing spots like the temples and shrines. The Japanese style room is very cozy. Our room faces the famous ya chuan river. There are a lot of stylish restaurants around.
Nice room, beatuful location on the river
You weren't allowed to look at the river or spend time in the beautiful downstairs unless you paid a lot more for breakfast. Didn't feel welcome
traditional japanese style walking distance to markets and train station.
Location in one of the best areas. Very nice staff
Hardly any English, no nice conmon area. Small onsen
quiet, lovely rooms and nice communal bath (gender segregated).
The room is very clean even though it feels kind of aged. They change the bedsheets everyday and the futon beds are comfortable. The location is great, it is only one bus station or just 10 mins walk away from Shijo Kawaramachi. You can see Yasaka Pagoda and Kiyomizu Temple from the onsen. The staff can speak excellent english and they are very willing to assist you to get around Kyoto. They are very friendly as well, by the end of the stay they remember my name.
Fair price even for the top floor suite. Very warm and friendly staff.
The price for dinner, almost a hundred bucks a head, was a bit much. We ate outside for half the price and similar quality. Poor English.
We stayed in a tatami room with ensuite bathroom as well as toilet. I found the futons very comfortable but my fiancé was mildly uncomfortable as he found lying on his side more difficult due to the firmness of the futon. The room was very spacious. It was nice to receive the green tea in room. The room was very pretty with bamboo walls and ceiling and paper window shields. We had breakfast both days included which was a very large traditional japanese sampler type breakfast - almost like a large bento or degustation. We are fairly adventurous with food and ate most of it, but ensure you are happy with predominantly fish breakfast if choosing to book breakfast. I highly enjoyed the Onsen experience and actually used this as my primary bathing method whilst staying 2 nights. We were lucky being off season there weren't many guests and I had the spa to myself each time, as did my fiancé. The 5th floor one would be fine for communal bathing but the 7th floor one was very tiny and would struggle to fit more than 3-4 people. Both had lovely views of the river as did the restaurant. The location was pretty good, 500m walk to Gion district & shops and nishiki food market. Only 1.5km walk (and view of) one of the most important temples. Nearest train station only 350m away. Woul definitely recommend this accommodation to friends, I think 2-3 days would be enough time here. Staff we're lovely and helpful and spoke better English than my jaoanese, we communicated fine.
Other guests who smoked in lobby, so no smoke free area to hang out in communal areas. No parks/grounds area to hang out in yukata clothing. Bring own flip flops/slippers if you have bigger than size 8 women's shoes or you can wear the men's ones which are not much bigger.
location is very nice, next to the river with beautiful back alleys around, lots of restaurants close by
there was a cockroach in the bath onsen is quite small everything is a little bit used/outdated
we can only use in the first floor
