Offering a completely non-smoking environment, free-use bicycles and a shared kitchen, Tentsuku Guest House is 150 metres from JR Kii-Tanabe Train Station. Guests stay in Japanese-style dormitory rooms with shared bathrooms. Rooms at Guest House Tentsuku have traditional futon bedding and tatami (woven-straw) floors. All have air conditioning. Shared high-tech toilets are provided. Aritoshi Shrine is 500 metres away, and Tanabe Central Hospital is 650 metres away. Tore Tore Fish Market is 8 km from the hostel. Nanki Shirahama Airport is a 30-minute drive. You can watch TV or use free Wi-Fi in the common area, or heat food in the microwave. A fair-trade shop is on the first floor, and the hostel has coin-operated laundry machines. The hostel offers a limited menu of Japanese dishes, as well as coffee, tea and beer. The staff and the owner are very friendly and very helpful. As the owner is also travel guide he can really advise and help organising trips - for free and definitely takes his time for you! They could also manage to get our camera back which we left in a bus in the Kansai region - Wow! You can borrow bycicles what is really great moving around in Tanabe. You feel really at home in Tentsuku guest house and get directly in contact with other travellers as the guest house is quite small and familiar. You will experience real Japanese leaving style what we really enjoyed a lot. The guest house is directly in the center of Tanabe besides the train station and many restaurants and shops. To the nice beach in Tanebe is only a short walk of 10 minutes. There is only one shared shower and one shared toilet, which can lead to some 'traffic jam' if everyone want to use it at the same time and if it's fully booked. But during our stay maximum number of guests (fully booked) was only 14 persons - so was okay.

A nice, impeccably clean en well-located guesthouse attached to the back of a small fair-trade shop. Typically Japanese in terms of sleeping facilities (thin futon on tatami mats). There is no breakfast included -although you are most welcome to use the kitchen- which in my opinion makes 2900 yen a bit of a high price. Then again, Japan is fairly expensive, so it falls within the modal range of accomodation prices. There is free WiFi access, the manager(s) will give you the password when needed.

Sehr netter Empfang. Gute Englischkenntnisse. Nahe Bahnhof. Backpacker-Romantik. Bei vollem Haus reichen ein WC, eine Dusche und eine kleine Küche nicht aus.

The people who runs the place!! Compared to the other japanese guest houses it wasn't really clean, the room is ok but the bathroom not really attractive.

田舎の家に帰ったような"家族感"がよく、宿泊者とオーナーを交えて話しが弾みました- ♪ バックパッカーのいいところですね。ロケーションもびっくりするくらい駅に近く、便利！スタッフの方もフレ- ンドリーで気楽に過ごせました〜♪ しいて言えば、古い民家なので音がかなり響きます。気になる人は厳しいかも。
