Beautiful place by the lake with Mt. Fuji view. Friendly staff. Very large hotel and we had very large room (40m3) with beatiful lake view. Hot spring and massage in hotel and there IS a wifi, just ask the reception. Shuttle bus to Odawara station for free.
Hotel was very luxurious probably in 70ies, a little bit outdated now, but still good quality. Location a little bit isolated from public transport after 5pm. Very overpriced restaurant for dinner.
Beautiful view from my room So romantic and awesome scenery
The walk to onsen quite long n confusing at times
Nice lounge area and restaurants. The view from both restaurants are wonderful. And the private water front track is nice as well
The location is a bit isolation away from public transport specially for hakone 2days pass use and hotel staff didn't mention this at all
We were a little nervous about transportation from Tokyo to the hotel, but the Prince Hakone shuttle made everything easy and stress free. We were pleasantly surprised with the classic vintage feel and the spacious grounds. The staff was very friendly.
There were not many dining options at the hotel. While we appreciated the fine dining selections, the price range was out of our budget.
You could sit out by the lake, have a glass of wine, makes for a perfect weekend
The cup in our room had lipstick marks! They charge you a 1000yen per hour for late checkout post 11.00am when their check in time is 3pm!!!
location, staff, hot spring and food
Room and view is perfect, take your time to enjoy!
For economic traveller, no reasonable food at there after 4 pm, and no bus after 4 pm, so the only option is take some Japanese bento boxes (you have to buy them at the railway station) to the lakeside to enjoy the beautiful view.
the lake is great.
The restaurants closed at 8 and there'a no others nearby and no room service.
1) nice views of mount Fuji, directly at the water front 2) well sized rooms (even for 4 occupants) 3) onsen 4) very clean rooms and public spaces. Very efficient housekeeping 5) kind personnel (also at the restaurant, we went to the Le Trianon).
1) overpriced restaurants (up to 15.000 Yen for a menu); 2) bad connections with nearest village (the last bus to Motohakone was leaving at 5pm). Very few taxis available in the neighourvillage. The hotel should provide a shuttle or other services enhancing guests' mobility. 3) furniture a bit outdated 4) too little banks on the waterfront (just two!).
The outlook was perfect but the location was a bit removed from the attractions in the area. However, the hotel was very willing to offer their shuttle bus for excursions and travel to and from the railway station upon and arrival and when leaving. The western style breakfast was one of the best we've experienced.
The hotel is immense and it can be difficult to navigate. The hotel would benefit from another restaurant that provides a more relaxed atmosphere and a cheaper offering.
The beautiful garden, the friendly staff, and the spacious room
There's no wifi or internet in the room
Natural settings, scenery, hot spring, architecture
Not so accessible. 1hr away from nearest train station
The location was on lake Aashi and it has beautiful view if my fuji
The resturants are extremely costly and the menu is not even extensive .
Nice views of Mt Fuji from the grounds of the hotel.
The room was too hot and AC did not work. Management did not move us to another room. It was too uncomfortable to stay in the room and the best the management would come uo with was to open the window. The "engineer" sent to our room did not speak a word of English. The hotel is too far from every where and one is forced to eat at the hotel itself whether you like it or not. Meals were expensive even for Japan. Very little choice for a vegetarian.
The hotel ended up being way nicer than what the pictures look like.
Great location overlooking the lake
No bar, restaurant very expensive. No other options to eat nearby
We spent the extra money for a Mt Fuji view balcony room and it was worth it. The hotel is very quiet and peaceful at night as you sit on your balcony looking at the lake and Mt Fuji. The on site Japanese restaurant was pricey but an incredible meal with exceptional service. You can order ala carte at a reasonable price.
View of Mt Fuji from lakeside. The open air onsen is great.
The set Japanese dinner is very expensive and NOT value for money as the portion is very small. Overall the dinner sucks!
Very spacious accommodations for Japan. The hotel is very remote, a 45 min drive from Odawara train station. The hotel has a free shuttle service three times a day but you have to arrange in advance to use it. The grounds are quite pretty as the hotel is right on Lake Ashi.
There are very limited dining options near the hotel. You are basically forced to dine at the hotels restaurants. The shopping area immediately next to the hotel is slightly more expensive than other parts of Hakone.
staff. one of staff drove us to and from Chinese restaurant near by when we are not feeling for restaurant in Hotel. Excellent service
The view, lake and the onsen
Few selection of food in the resto and its early closing. The price is expensive too. You may pls consider to serve some selection at an affordable cost.
The hotel ground is beautiful for just a day or two,
There should be a shuttle bus to nearby town in the early evening to provide more choice for people who want to try local restaurants. At the moment, there was no choice for the hotel guests: you eat at the hotel or not at all. The plaza nearby does not help, as they close too early.
location - wonderful views of Fuji from our balcony
limited drink and food facilities - e.g no bar was open at all whilst we were there
Great location being on Lake Ashinoko although is a little far to walk to the nearest township (Moto-Hakone). The rooms are very spacious.
Facilities are a little dated although still very clean.
Good hotel, nice look to the lake and top of Mt. Fuji. Free shuttle.
Away from station. Be careful: Check-in: 15-00, early check-in for additional cost 100Y/ every hour. Free shuttle has time limits, 3 times through the day, 10AM, 12AM, 3PM. Taxi from station about 8.000Y
