The capital of Japan, Tokyo is a vast, teeming metropolis nestled between mountains and Tokyo Bay. It’s so huge that you’ll have to come to grips with public transport and maybe even experience being pushed onto a train. Yes, it does actually happen!
Get your bearings by ascending the Tokyo World Trade Center near the waterfront, and savor the fantastic views taking in the red-and-white Tokyo Tower and Shinkuju’s skyscrapers. North is Ueno, home to the best museums (including the Tokyo National Museum) and a large park bursting with cherry blossom in spring.
Equally tranquil are the Chiyoda Imperial Palace and Gardens, surrounded by water. Also in gardens is the Meiji Jingu Shinto shrine in Shibuya, a youthful district where neon abounds.
For more traditional Japanese culture, head to Asakusa whose Sensō-ji Buddhist temple is Tokyo’s oldest temple. Outdoor markets sell a variety of wares, though shopping in Tokyo is, of course, fantastic wherever you go.
Whether you stay in a Japanese ryokan, luxury Tokyo hotel or a hostel, don’t fly out of Tokyo Narita Airport or Haneda Airport without having tried sushi. Another Japanese institution is the sento (public bath) and onsen (hot springs bath) – a must try. Also incredibly popular are Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, Asia’s 2 most visited theme parks.

Tokyo is fantastic, surprising at every turn, and full of things to do, to see, and experience. The food is almost everywhere amazing, and special - and the people are friendly. Public transportation is a bit hard to get used to, especially the subway which is not so "foreigner friendly". Also a lot of delays and queuing is not fun.

Started the trip on the left side of the imperial palace in Toshima City. Our hotel had a nice mall and shopping district nearby. The train station was also close by and we used it to spend one day visiting Shinjuku City area and another in Shibuya City. Plenty of places to shop and loved walking around to see all the amazing buildings. The end of the trip was on the right side of the imperial palace in Akihabara. Use the nearby stations to spend a day in Ginza which was packed with huge buildings and shopping centers. Another day we went to Sumida City which had a cool temple in Asakusa along with neat shopping strip. The Tokyo Sky tree was there as well. Akihabara was amazing because of all the arcades and how late the strip was open to the public at night. Beware, its less family friendly because of all the openly lewd shops. Love Tokyo overall and if shopping/City life is your thing then there will be plenty of it for you to see

Another world.
Another world. You have to go there, in order to understand how different it is. Easy to visit other cities as well with the brilliant train service, but just for Tokyo, you need a minimum of a week, just to see 30% of it at best.
It is that big, that it has actual motorways connecting various parts of the city.
No description can do justice to the size of Tokyo.
Amazing food, from cheap to really expensive, but anyone can find to eat and even street food is of a high level.
Be ready for a culture shock and hearing "Thank you very much" in Japanese, every meter you walk or so.
Comfortable hotel in excellent location - very friendly and helpful staff - and we liked the cafe bar on site (the breakfast was good). The rooms are small but bigger than we expected - try a twin rather than a double for more space - and very clean with good facilities. The hotel is in a great area, loads of cafes and restaurants on the doorstep, and walkable to Shinjuku, Meiji Jingu, Harajuku and Shibuya or catch the train nearby. We loved staying here and would stay again. Thank you, La'gent Hotel!
I loved the location, it's near two Metro stations that can get you around tokyo. There are also many shops & restaurants around the hotel. It has a local vibe compared to staying in popular areas like Shinjuku or Shibuya. I also sent out my luggage to the airport in advance so having to carry them wasn't a problem. I also loved the staff everyone was really nice and accommodating especially Masuda & Kuroki. The room I booked was perfect for a solo traveler like me and I loved the bed.
This accommodation was a real bang for a buck!
The host was nice and welcoming, responding to messages very quickly.
The location was convenient and close to the main attractions of Shinjuku as well as the Shinjuku station.
For the price, the room was a decent size (fitting all five of us) and had more facilities provided than in most hotels many times the cost.
I will definitely consider booking again when I'm in Tokyo next time.
Great hotel. Friendly, courteous, well mannered staff. Complimentary coffee / espresso machine that offered barista options available all day was a nice perk. Art installations on every floor were beautiful. French toast breakfast was amazing. Convenient subway access to the rest of Tokyo. Neighborhood felt professional and business friendly. Very safe and quiet. Haven away from the chaos of Shibuya and Shinjuku.
This was the first of various hotels my husband and I stayed while we were visiting Japan. APA Hotels became my go to and most sought out Hotel in this AMAZING country. Every employee is courteous, the rooms are very clean and stocked with ALL the toiletries needed. Do yourself a favor and do not add more weight to your luggage, ditch your dollar store toiletries because APA has them all! Cant wait to be back
-- the views from the room are spectacular
-- the staff is very kind and helpful
-- the hotel's laundry service is incredible
-- there is a shuttle to/from either airport in Tokyo right next to the entrance of the hotel
-- the hotel is in close walking distance to Shinjuku Station
-- the hotel is located in the center of Shinjuku which is a very busy neighborhood with an active nightlife
I told the hotel that it was my husband's birthday and they put a handwritten birthday card in the room, which we found really nice. The location is great, just few steps away from the driverless Yurikamome station and another station that is Shinjuku/Shibuya line. We also used the massage chair in the room a lot until our backs were tender 😆 it was worth it. AMAZING VIEW from our window.
The apartment is definitely bigger size compared to APA hotels or any business hotels in the Shinjuku or Shibuya down town.
Me and my family felt way more comfortable here!
Heater works perfectly fine in winter time and all the amenity we needed was here too.
A Lovely safe local neighborhood and lots nice cafe and restaurants near by.
Close to MRT Hatsudai station on foot
Fantastic and helpful staff, located in a calmer area of Tokyo away from the typical tourist destinations of Shibuya and Shinjuku. There is a subway station right next to the hotel though which makes getting around fairly convenient if a little long to get to downtown. Next to a popular shopping area that has some great inexpensive restaurants that locals seem to frequent.
Spacious for Japan standard. We like the balcony a lot. Clean and the bed mattress is good and comfy. Location also good with lots of convenient shops, grocery stores and eateries. Nearest subway stations only about 5-8mins walk away and took us 40mins to Shibuya/Shinjuku area. We love the hotel and will definitely stay again if we come to Tokyo again.
Great accessibility. The hotel is connected to Shibuya train station. I can enter the train station gantry gate (new south exit) by using the lift in the hotel to level 3. This gantry will is connected to platform 3 and 4, where the Saikyō Line, JS Shōnan–Shinjuku Line and Narita Express trains. It is easy to travel around Tokyo from here.
Located in a residential neighborhood of Okubo that helps convey a sense of living in Tokyo that you can't get staying at a hotel. Only a 10-15 minute walk to the station with lots of great food options close by as well as proximity to Shinjuku that makes traveling to almost anywhere in Tokyo convenient.
Great hotel and breakfast. Each time we come to Tokyo, we like to stay at this hotel as it’s well located (not too far from Akasaka Subway and easy to access to Ginza, Shinjuku and Shibuya). It’s also at walking distance to Midtown. The staff were very nice and helpful
Nice little hotel in a great location with very friendly staff. Our room had a microwave, fridge/freezer and washing machine/dryer making our stay very convenient. The hotel is also very easy to get to with a 2min walk from Nishi-Shinjuku Station on the Toei Oedo Line.
Every little thing was thoughtful and had very clear instructions.. water pressure is very strong!! better than some hotels.. 3 mins walk from higashi shinjuku oedo line gate and 1 min walk from the exit, it’s really strategic..
Spacious rooms. Immaculately clean.
Close to Shinjuku Station, Shibuya Scramble Crossing etc.
Awesome rooftop garden.
A small, family-run hotel with some quirky decor.
Everything we needed for a comfy stay in Tokyo.
My favorite hotel in Tokyo - great location close to Shibuya scramble, Hachiko, Yoyogi Park/Meiji Shrine and the shops ans restaurant. Rooms have great city view and staffs are very much accommodating and helpful.
Parkside location in Shinjuku was beautiful. The decoration was also fine, with slightly larger room sizes compared to a wellknown chain of Japanese hotels. Very happening public areas always abuzz. Good value.
Hotel staff are so friendly and helpful, location is great for access to underpass walking tunnel to Shinjuku 1.1km and Tochomae station is only 5mins walk across the chau park.
Great location on the subway lines. Quick access the Shinjuku and Shibuya, as well as Tokyo station. Comfortable and relatively quiet hotel in the middle of town.
