Good location and reasonable price for small budget.
Not clean and shower room and toilet rooms are not enought.
1) WiFi was good 2) Room bed arrangements with two tiers was good 3) Self cooking arrangement in common kitchen was good 4) Common bath was clean, useable in 1st floor & ground floor 5) Location was near station in a clean calm & quite locality 6) Cycles can be rented for Kyoto roaming at 1000 JPY rent per day
1) Strictness about check in (after 9am upto 4 pm no staff available at reception for check in or enquiry) 2) Ground floor toilet was stinky 3) outside signboard is not prominent, had two make two roinds on the same street to locate
Handy position, helpful staff, shared facilities more than adequate
Fast Wi-Fi Nice Employees of which some spoke good english Bicycles for rent Cheap!
Hard Bed Hard Pillow
Uncomfortable bedding and noisy. We booked two nights but left after 1st night. No hot water for shower.
Staff not cooperative, bed is very terrible and toilet are dirty
One of the staff let us check in ahead of time, which I thought was nice of him. He also tried his best to introduce us around the hostel in english. :) The hostel is also within walking distance from Kyoto station.
There were only 2 shower rooms in the entire hostel and the futon bedding was quite thin.
Facilities and services
Close to Kyoto station.
No clothing iron/ironing board. No clothes dryer, only a washing machine. You must hang clothes on the roof via a fire stairwell, but cannot access after 9pm. Run by what appears to be inexperienced young students. Reception is only staffed limited hours, 9-11am and 4-9pm so if you need assistance any other time, bad luck. No-one is ever in the Common Room. The walls are very thin, floors very creaky and they have a no noise policy after 9pm. Toilets have a horrible urine smell even after being cleaned. No light in the windows, faces brick wall so always dark. Constant wifi issues. Wifi dropped out all day on a Saturday, the girl on reception didn't know how to fix it, so I had to wait until the next morning until it was fixed. They have a computer with internet you have to pay for upstairs in an awkward position with no adequate seating. I stayed there 5 nights and I regret it completely. Avoid! I have been travelling around Japan for a month and this was definitely the worst hostel I have been to. I wanted to like this place but I have to be honest. It is terrible value for money. I have stayed in other places in Japan that offered more but cheaper.
Convenient location near Kyoto station is really the plus point. There are light minded traveler to exchange and get to know them and able to open up to tag along with their travelling.
Tomato should invest in common area for people to sit around and interact with one another. especially near the office area as we tend to check and ask where about places In Kyoto or in Kansai area. there should have bath room on level 2 instead of only level 1. time out of light should be at midnite instead of 11pm as all travel and tend to come back late. haha!!
Adequate facilities clean bathroom with hairdryer washer and kitchen utilities. Room was adequately heated and comfortable.the young lady was also helpful.
Other than the room the house was freezing cold in winter. Wish they could have put in a little effort to make it more cosy.
It is really disgusting to find a lot of different hairs in the blankets
Compared to other staying places I stayed in japan.. -The toilet has unpleasant urine smell. -Shared bathroom causes long queue especially when other guests bathe too long@ too many guests n there's only 2 bathrooms -pricey compared to other guest house with better facilities -no convenient store nearby, needs to walk quite a distance to find one; make sure u buy what u need b4 heading back
friendly staff, convenient facilities, great location
no windows in my room
Cool staff member named Kazu. Good guy. Brother helped a brother out so to speak.
100 pitch black rooms. Windows to brick walls means you will wake up, and not know what time it is at any time of the day. 100 for 20 (14 including startup) and 100 yen for two minutes of phone time? What is this, 1998? That all needs to change now. Free use computers are a must everywhere. Kitchen facilities were lacking, and a lot of the appliances didn't work. Decent hostel needs some revamp. Better options, but prime to one of the best if changes are made. Good people run it, so it shouldn't be difficult to fix up.
Old place and dirty, horrible accomodation, staff are not gentle and reception times are not good and its not informed in the booking reservation. Dont rent a bike there, look for a specialized place for that.
Near the Kyoto station and temples.
Unisex toilet. Smelly dorm room with unreasonable bunk bed. No heater.
Not far from the train station, 10 minutes by foot
Toilet not very clean, only one toilet fot the whole floor. Room small, cold and with an awful stink. Matress very thin and hard.
