Hiro-san was a very kind and friendly host during our stay. We arrived late at 19.40 and he picked us up on a cold rainy evening from the station, which was really welcome after our 5hr train journey from Kyoto. He gave us lots of helpful information and tips about where to eat. It was cold and rainy for our two days at this traditional Japanese ryokan and although we didn’t see Fuji-san it was a good location for walking around the lake, taking in an onsen and eating some fabulous food. The unagi-ya funagi restaurant close by was fabulous. There were lots of places to buy food or eat out; across the road from the hotel is a fabulous fish-mongers and we bought fantastic tuna and octopus sashimi, washed down with locally brewed Mt Fuji sake. But Hiro-san excelled in his kindness when he dropped one of us back to the station at 7.30 in the morning after they’d forgotten a piece of equipment. I’m sure if we hadn’t had to use the heater and kotatsu and the sun had come out the review would have been sunnier too. But it’s a great value place to stay run by kind, attentive people for whom nothing would have been any trouble.

Being slightly picky, it would have been helpful to have had access to plates and/or bowls and suds for washing up. And the internet access is on a very slow Japanese Windows laptop so don’t get your hopes up too high!

No lock to guest room door. No room side safe. Smelly gasoline space heater. Primitive shower area.

An incredibly kind family run the ryokan. They lent us a couple of things we didnt have and gave us lots of information about the things we wanted to do! A nice location- we could see Mount Fuji from our room! Short walk from shops, restaurants, and the lake. Not particularly near the station but they picked us up and dropped us off. Its clean, very Japanese looking (I was with some people who had never been to Japan before, who loved the atmosphere!)

The bathroom, toilets, sinks etc. are all shared, but are not "public". They didn't have things like bowls / plates / cutlery in the kitchen (problematic for somewhere that doesn't serve breakfast!), but we asked the family and they lent us some of theirs!

You can't find frendlier staff than in Tourist Home Fugakuso. It was run by a family and had a homely feeling to it. The father of the family offered help whenever we needed it and even drove us to the station with his car. The house was very pretty and japanese. I can recommend Tourist Home Fugakuso.

The location of Tourist Home Fugakuso was nice but could have been more convenient. The family that runs the place was awfully friendly, but didn't have the best english skills.

Eigenaar laat de gasten onder het mom van de Japanse traditie alles zelf doen ; alhoewel de faciliteiten geenzins voldoen. Je moet zelf met behulp van zeer dunne kussens en muffe dekens je slaapgelegenheid inrichten . De wasgelegenheid is zeer slecht en smerig . Na vertrek moet je eerst je kamer weer opruimen zodat de eigenaar geen enkele service hoeft te verlenen

Très bon accueil de l'hôte qui nous parfaitement renseigné sur les lieux touristiques de la ville ainsi que les meilleurs points de vue. Il nous aussi donné des bons de réductions afin de pouvoir d'un onsen à proximité et de prendre un téléphérique pour admirer un magnifique point de vue. Hôte serviable et a disposition! Nous recommandons cet hôtel!!

the owner was very friendly and tried to help where he could. drove us two times to the place we needed to go.

the english level is not too good, but we always got an answer that helped. due to the ryokan style the walls are not very thick. so it can get noisy. don't forget the earplugs :)
