The people were nice and helpful.
The people were nice and helpful. However, I would suggest staying in Abashiri as reaching the prison museum and other attractions is difficult from Kitami. For example, there were no direct buses that extended beyond the Memanbetsu airport, so you had to take a train part of the way (which only runs once every 3 hours), then transfer to a bus, then walk. If I had to do it again, I would have stayed in Abashiri and skipped Kitami.AAnonymous - 8.0Scored 8.0

Our visit was in July, there were lots of blooms around the area. Driving around was a good way to look at various sights. Lake Saroma is beautiful all times of the day. Would love to spent more time to explore the wildlife around the Lake and walk around the Wakka Nature Centre. Understand that there is a completely different type of beauty in winter - a reason to re-visit, surely?
