The staff were waiting for us at the place when we arrived. When we had questions about locations of stores or facilities they didn't hesitate to come all the way to show us on a map. Overall, it was a nice stay at a quiet neighborhood and a good representation of a stay in japan.
The place although spacious in some areas like the bedrooms and bathrooms, but a little small in some like the living room and the kitchen. Would not recommend for a big family I would say. Nice stay and experience for a group of friends or a couple though.
Delightful Japanese house, which felt like home. Highly recommended.
Would have been useful to have the house name on the door as it was hard to find when we arrived at night
Wonderful experience in Kyoto. I had never been living in such a great house before. I was shocked by this place when I arrived. You should have this experience in your life!!!
If I can cook something in the kitchen, It is much better. Wifi is not working.
It was very nice to have the opportunity to spend some time in a house (what I think is a typical very small japanese house). It was very comfortable, the decoration was lovely and simple. It was very clean. Our house was "big" enough for 3 persons, maybe not for 4, especially since there was only one bedroom. JR Train or bus connexion are at about 10 minutes walking distance. It makes it easy to go anywhere.
It was a little tricky to find at our arrival, but once you understood the way, it was not a problem anymore. It was not allowed to do some cooking, wich was ok. But there were no plate nor knifes, so it was not easy if you just want to have a slice of bread with something on it for breakfast.
The 100 yen sushi restaurant nearby is really good, you must try it.
It's a bit difficult to find the location of Wakakusa-an. The map that the staff provided was not up to date. We got lost for nearly 45 minutes in the area. Actually when you reach the Nijo Station, try to find the 100 yen sushi restaurant (you can see it in the station), go straight until the second intersection on your left, turn left and go straight until the second intersection and turn right. You'll see a small shrine, turn left. At the first intersection turn right. There are two lanterns hanging at the front door. The plate written Wakakusa-an is so small that you could miss it easily. So you really have to concentrate. Once you see the inside of the house, everything is worth it.
