Although they were very clean we would rather not share the toilet & bathing facilities. We regret not taking advantage of the free bicycles provided by our hosts as there was easy access to bicycle lanes.
Clean, comfortable, private room. Peaceful setting with lovely gardens to view. Hosts extremely helpful in arranging courier transport for bulky luggage to airport. We received a lot of helpful advice from our hosts regarding local attractions & public transportation routes.

not that much authentic ryokan (occidental style beds...)
lovely hosts clean

Limited shower facilities down the hall. Lack of furniture in room (standard for Japanese ryokan) can be problematic if you don't like sitting on floor.
Location was very convenient to bus and metro. Futons were very comfortable. The Staff (husband and wife, I think) were very helpful. Room was large for the three of us.

You pay 37,000 yens for a night (no diner, and even no breakfast...) Ok maybe it was the deal... But still where are the minimum standards for that price ?! You need to call the master of the house before having a shower... (never seen that before even in Japan) They do not accept card payment (whereas for a 10,000 yens night in another Ryokan (much more comfortable !!!) it was possible. Maybe it was written on the webpage but still it shows how they are not flexible. Noisy room close to corridor. Empty area for having dinner. Bath is not an Onsen. A cold swimmimg pool tiles. I do not like to ruin a hotel with my comments but here I can ensure you, even a capsule hotel is much better. The night before we did a Ryokan much better for much much cheaper and with a perfect staff discretion/availability. Shame. How bad it was to end our great stay in Kyoto so far, with that scam.
Good looking from the outside. (even if 2 huge German cars were hiding the front house) Great gardens inside. That is all.

-not been able to have a bath at the time you wannna. -we have to argue 15 minutes with the staff in order to pay by credit card (they say in booking is posible but they dont want to)
good located and very nice.

The guy at reception was cranky & annoying and kept on telling us to get our bags delivered to our next accomodation ASAP after chk-out time , not that accommodating in providing breakfast too.
The hot bath and beautifull Japanese garden .

Extremely friendly and helpful staff, very good japanese breakfast available, shared toilets and bathroom are very clean and convenient. Japanese style room was cozy and quiet. City bus stop as well as subway station are close.

- have to plan the bath in the evening by calling the owner - also, could not lock the bath door
- good location, close to bus and subway station - big and confortable room - helpful staff - good facilities in the room

The location only accepts cash, which is fine just needs to be planned for.
The place was very good and quite. It felt like home and the baths were great after a long day waking. Beds are as comfortable as a futon on a tatami may can feel. Close to bus lines. Spring for a breakfast if you can, it is worth it.

It s a family run hotel. Very friendly people, lovely decoration. Location is good to visit Golden Temple and Asakusa

Whilst near the main subway outside the Imperial Palace it took is a little time to find the place. However if you find the local 7 Eleven they will point you in the right direction
Very helpful friendly hosts, who could not do enough to help. They had the belief that "their home was your home" Not far from Kyoto Imperial Palace Easy to get to main attractions in Kyoto as on main bus line Clean, tidy and whilst not , easy to use hot showers and good bathroom facilities Great place to experience traditional Japenese Ryokan Would highly recommend staying here

This is a very personal property and the attention to detail is remarkable. The owner/innkeeper was very helpful with every aspect of our stay in Kyoto.

Make sure you have the address clearly written in Japanies before you leave home - Taxi drivers dont know the place and cant read the English directions !
Entering the Yagoda Nishijinso facility in Tokyo transfers you into a dimension of peace and tranquility. Welcoming and helpfull hosts, thoughtful environment and comfortable facilities. Make sure to order breakfast - it is superb!

Couldn't take a bath whenever we wanted, cos the staff didn't allow it. The facility was not as much as convenient ones of hotels near stations which have a modern Japanese style. The price was very much expensive cos we stayed there in one of Golden holidays. Considered the experience we stayed at an another hotel which has modern Jap stylish style, convenient facilities, lots of amenities at 3/4 price of its, we can say the cost didn't balance our stay there..
We could see the nice authentic Japanese garden from the room. The atmosphere was great, the staff were warm, kind, very helpful, gave us suitable advice to hang around in Kyoto city.

Stairs.. I don't like stairs... Also the front desk doesn't always has someone there. Waited a little long until someone comes to talk to us. But once checked in, excellent. So I can pass that one
Super comfortable Japanese style bedding and bath, friendly staff who speaks excellent English, super helpful and welcoming. Easy transport from Kyoto station(from b1 take route 9, get off at ichijo modoribashi, walk 2 minutes
April 25, 2014
The rules to have a bath/shower are too strict. You need to call the owner everytime you need it, and then call him back when you're finished. Makes you feel a bit too controlled.
Traditional ryokan but with a nice touch. Wonderful garden, a bit small. Nice welcome, but no treats. Great location, 10 minutes from Imperial palace and walking distance to nice popular neighbourhoods and key bus stops. We walked everywhere.
April 5, 2014
the ~onsen bath was real good. good location. friendy hosts. traditional-japanese experience
March 26, 2014
the rooms are so expensive and they are not really comfortabe. If we had paid less for this, it would be very nice, but for this price, NO! Moreover, we had to announce quite in advance at which time exactly we want to take a shower so they prepare it for us and that was quite restrictive.
the common bath was quite clean and the owner and his wife speak english and they give good explanations about where to go, eat, etc.

I thought I had booked the downstairs room but got the upstairs room upon arrival. Just follow up before arriving
The owner and wife were very helpful and accommodating. Their English was quite good. They gave us great advice on using public transportation as well as several local eateries. The traditional Japanese bath was clean and modern and they had the bath prepared for us at our convenience.
