Bamburi Beach Resort

Nothing at all..

Everything about it but most of all the man from India who has rented this business that had a certificate of excellence from tripadvisor 2012 and has absolutely no idea on how to run it. The food was the worst we have ever been served anywhere in the world, the manager absent, reception closed from 5 pm until 8 am, the owner from India rude and with a totally misplaced high self esteem. The man who thinks Mombassa is Bombay with his satellite channels from India and his Indian menue prepared by a Kenyan that was anything but a cook made even his mostly Indian guest leave and go to eat somewhere else. No ambiance, no respect and interest made me hide in my room and happy to leave as soon as possible.

Well located, large rooms with excellent (shared) balcony areas, good restaurant/bar overlooking the beach, hotel security keep hawkers from the beach away from guests (unless you go down onto the beach). Staff were very friendly and spoke good English.

Hawkers on the beach can get annoying after a while. We asked the hotel staff about tours and within minutes a man arrived to talk to us who we thought was from the hotel, it turned out that one of the bar staff did call him but he was not a licensed tour operator and this ended up causing us problems - we spent the last day in the police station to get some of our money back!

Rooms were very nice,but that is where it ends.

Power goes out every Thursday (apparently) Bamburi does not have a generator, (all resorts around did) which made the room very uncomfortable.

Hotel very low priced compared to the other hotels in the surroundings in front of the beach with EXCELLENT and VERY FRIENDLY and HELPFULL Staff always ready to serve us at any moment.I was really wondered about the very good cleaning ofd the rooms every day. They gave us the bungalow in front of the swimming pool...

As usual in many hotels in Africa that I went already small problems with airconditioning and not always warm water. Also not clear reception on TV and some electric failures from time to time.That's why I hyave to put a fair on the comfort although I liked the very spacious double bed.

The hotel has a very bad price/quality balance in comparison with several hotels in the area. -in general the compound has a lot of trash (old building materials and other stuff) hanging around; -the compound is small and lacks breathing space; -there is no seperate parking so cars wake you up at night as they arrive in the compound; -there is no business center and no phone in the rooms; -according to several sources in Bamburi, security is reported to be poor (theft); -the staff is not very skilled contrary to the hotels in the surroundings which are not more expensive ; -breakfast is not included in the room price; -there is only vegetarian food; -the bar/restaurant area could be a nice place but is not a place to relax because the television is always playing loudely or the DJ is trying out his system half of the day; -the shared kitchen/terrace area has as consequence that neighbours wake you up when they are having breakfast in front of your door in the morning; -the management has a very strong 'we don't care' attitude.

I have stayed at Bamburi Beach Resort 2 times (2011 and 2012) and will definitly stay there next time in Mombasa. The value for money is extremely good. The rooms are very nice and cozy, and the atmosphare on the premises is very relaxing. The staff is very friendly and service minded without beeing too "pushy".

L'ensemble, un bon rapport qualité/prix

Pas de lampe de chevet... Obliger de sortir du lit et de la moustiquaire intégrée au lit (ça c'est bien) pour éteindre la lumière.

il resort è immerso nel verde, splendido curato e silenzioso. lo staff gentilissimo e si sono dimostrati tutti molto disponibili!!!

La cucina (esterna) del cottage non era stata pulita e non c'erano attrezzature sufficienti per utilizzarla. Problemi continui con l'acqua sanitaria.

Leuke atmosfeer, iets meer Afrika gevoel dan in een traditioneel hotel. Lekker ruim! Goede locatie, dichtbij een aantal goede restaurants gelegen. Personeel erg hulpvaardig. Je voelt je midden in de natuur.

Very near the beach. Good fruit juices.

There is no fridge, it is not very clean and the price is not closed related to what it offers.

On beachfront but not private beach as hotel description indicated.

No backup generator which is unusual for africa. Doesn't feel at all safe for solo travellors. Beach view rooms are basically in the bar so no privacy andot of noise. Not value for money at all considering no electricity, room quality and lack of amneties. Manager very unhelpful (witnessed a yelling match between him and another guest).

Atmosfæren på Bamburi Beach Resort er meget koselig. Det føles ikke som å bo på hotell, samtidig som man har alle hotell fasiliteter tilgjengelig. Personalet er meget hyggelige og hjelpsomme. Jeg har bodd her en gang tidligere, og hadde samme inntrykk da. Man får veldig mye for pengene, og standarden er meget bra I forhold til pris.
