We stayed for 2 days in Nairobi before our 9 days of Safari, and 2 days after. In retrospect, Nairobi CBD had little to offer from our perspective. Day Visits to the Giraffe Center and Sheldrik Wildlife trust were OK, but crowded and touristy. As we were doing a private Safari with private driver/vehicle, were we to do this again, we would have them pick us up from the airport and go directly to our first Safari destination Lodge and relax there to recover from the long travel ( we came from Canada) rather than a hotel in Nairobi. If you are coming to Kenya for a Safari, there are many Safari operators where you can do a private Safari and create a custom itinerary for the same or less cost than a group tour. It's what we did and we are glad we did so.

Nairobi is a green city, with trees everywhere you look! The people living there are friendly. The city have so much to offer, like SAFARI inside the city! We also went on a hour long track in the woods, without leaving the city!

Nairobi is a busy city with lots going on.
Nairobi is a busy city with lots going on. There is plenty to do for tourists. It can feel a bit unsafe in the city centre but tourist areas such as Karen and the National Park are very safe for tourists.

Nairobi is a gateway to safaris in Kenya so an important city to go to. We liked Nairobi National Park and loved Sheldrick's elephant orphanage and the Giraffe Center. I suggest getting a driver to take you to those locations.

Nairobi is so fun with so many excitement and places to visit. Going to safari, bowling and jumping the train to Mombasa. it was a great experience with so many lovely people. But be careful, few of them are scam.
Property is located in a prime location. There are many restaurants around the area and it’s very close to Nairobi and only 30minutes from Airport or 20minutes on a Toll/Bypass road.
Rooms are clean and have a minimalist look and cosy with all the appliances you need. There is also a posh restaurant downstairs, serving a lot of cuisines, can be a bit pricy but very good quality food.
Security is 24hrs and guests who are entering the hotel are also screened.
The views of the city at night from the top floor are amazing.
We loved everything about this place. It has a special timeless atmosphere and makes you feel "at home in Kenya". The staff and the owner Chris have been excellent hosts. We miss one of their house dogs "Max" very much! The food was very good. The transfer from the airport was done by "Entice Afrika Safari" where we met Anthony Muli, who guided us through Nairobi the next days. Staying at Karen Gables made all the difference for us in comparison with any other "normal" hotel. Highly recommended!!
It was an okay hotel. I expected more for the price, but I actually assume that the price is quite high due to the airport transfers which are said to be 'included', and due to its proximity to the airport. I had a one-day layover here in Nairobi and just wanted somewhere near the airport and this does the job. Not sure it's worth the price, however. Harold was extremely nice (airport transfer driver). The reception was pleasant also.
The breakfast was okay and the location was perfect very convenient for anyone who would like to be around the CBD. This is amongst the very few hotels in the Nairobi CBD that you'd actually have a comfortable sleep same as the one accorded in any residential neighborhood. The lady at the reception Christine (hope I got the name right) very professional, welcoming and kind to the guests, her service delivery is just exceptional.
Jamia Central Hotel is a wonderfully quiet and excellently located within walking distance of matatu stages (to Naivasha f.e.) but just outside the hectic areas. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Hotel is located on second floor of a shopping center but very quiet. Nice and clean. Very close to a Naivas Supermarket (for some snacks as I arrived late) and close to City Market and easy access to CBD. Would stay here again.
Very friendly personnel. We were upgraded without extra costs to a spacious room. Convenient situation not far from Nairobi CBD.
Covid-restrictions had just been lifted the week before the visit and due to very few visitors the main restaurant was not opened.
Due to "just after lockdown" the choice of menu was limited. Breakfast - average.
The entourage in the cafetaria is nice and very fine to sit outdoors.
Westlands is one of the best areas in Nairobi; accommodation is near the Sarit Centre for first-class shopping, Super-Market, and always visit the News Cafe first floor special offering half-price breakfast before ten AM. The third floor has a food court and rooftop bars. Another gem for meetings is the Jacaranda Hotel, opposite the Sait Centre. Accommodation amazing value, highly recommended.
First off, the positives. The majority of the staff at this hotel are extremely nice. I enjoyed chatting with the security guards, the chefs and the receptionists. They were all very friendly, polite and accommodating. The property is very clean throughout and there are amazing views from the balconies.
The location of the hotel is also quite good. It's close to CBD and Karura Forest.
This hotel is famous to welcome many celebrities. The service is top-rated. The breakfast is the best that I have had in Kenya till now. The room is large and spacious. The location is right in downtown Nairobi and close to many attractions. It is a hotel that you must stay at least once to experience the history and story of Kenya from its Colonial Era.
Place was very good. Comfortable, quiet, good place for a rest.
Very close to Jomo Kenyatta Airport; managed to get my early morning flight well on time.
Good view of the airport from the hotel.
The highlight is the roof top restaurant, with full view of the airport, and the dual road below.
All staff were genuinely friendly and hospitable.
Stayed in the flat between 20th Aug to 7th Sept 2023
Breakfast is not applicable. However, the kitchen was superb, well equipped, well lit.
Location is great too, close to supermarket and Westlands town center. Less than 20mins from the airport via the toll express way.
The amenities. How clean it is. Christina, the front desk agent she checked us in yesterday is extremely great and professional.
She should be the next General manager, she is on top of everything.
Best hotel in Nairobi, and I came to Nairobi at least 8 times
Golden Tulip is a nice hotel in Nairobi Westlands. The location is good and we always felt safe. The room was spacious with a great view from the window. Good breakfast, nice food at the restaurant on the 10th floor. Staff is very nice and professional
The hotel is located just 5 minutes from the airport terminal, which is convenient for airline cabin crew and travelers who need a hotel for the night while transiting through Nairobi to another destination.
popping shampagne on the terrace, good sleep -surprisingly calm and peaceful at night in uptown CBD these days .. many shopping opportunities around the hotel.. great restaurants like CJs..
It was very nice. Well located in Westlands, Sarit Mall is just beside the hotel. Rooms were very comfy and zhe bathroom was very pleasing. Best breakfast we had since years
The room size is great and with a nice balcony. Location is within Westlands but with Nairobi traffic it’s horrible moving via car during certain times of the day
Really spacious apartment, good location that was very quiet at night, easy walking distance to lots of great food options in Westlands and also the CBD
