Score from 133 reviews Very good
Nice hotel, good location, clean, friendly staff.
They didn't have any record of my booking.com booking. I showed them the email so they had to recreate a booking for me, which took much extra time after a late arrival at JKIA.
The location is close to Jomo Kenyatta airport, allow 15mins in light traffic but up to 40mins at rush hour due to congestion. Check-in was painless and the lady was friendly. The hotel allowed me to check out at 12 on the day of departure. The hotel is new, of a high standard for Nairobi so I have stayed here several times in the past. The restaurant serves good food and there is a steak house attached to the hotel if you like variety. The hotel has manned and gated security.
the random guy who knocked my door at 0740 to see if I needed laundry collected... despite only being there for one night. The hotel is very noisy, it's used by airline crews and transit passengers so constant door banging and the sound of luggage being dragged along the corridor. The bathroom isn't separate from the main room, it's a frosted glass partition for the toilet, if you are sharing a room you will need to very comfortable with your partners bathroom habits.
Room Service Airport meet and greet
I stayed both pre and post safari the hotel is ideally located in relation to JMO, and is good value for money .
Requested an iron and ironing board only to be told that the hotel had irons but no ironing boards, house keeping came to the rescue and did my ironing FOC.
I think the payment should include bed and breakfast
Helpful, friendly staff, well located for airport, comfy bed.
Not enough hanging space,shelves....door opens into not out of the lavatory so bashes against the toilet!
Breakfast was excellent.
Unhappy to be charged $25 per room for a taxi to the airport but we were all put in one car.
Location is close to Airport which is good for quick overnight stays. Good security at the hotel. Staff were welcoming and courteous, room was good. Restaurants on premises good.
Shuttle service of $25 to the airport to high.
New and Confortable
A little bit expensive
Eka hotel is very security-minded and is a comfortable and clean hotel. I stayed here for one night while I was transiting through Nairobi, based on it's proximity to the airport. They have a Spur on premise and you can order from the restaurant up to your room.
The hotel lacks some of the local charm and customization that many of the other hotels (which are closer to the central business district) offer. I would not recommend staying here for pleasure travel but it was exactly what I needed while in transit during business travel.
The location in relation to the airport is very nice. They also have 2 very nice restaurants on premises. Bed's are very comfortable and the rooms are designed well.
Restaurant facilities are great, and I appreciate the proximity to the airport.
proximity to airport, comfort and cleanliness of rooms, restaurant on site, professionalism and friendliness of staff
the mattress was a little hard
expensive continuously disconnecting wifi
Very secure high security Hotel with excellent service. Guaranteed value for money
Room design close to airport cleanliess
variety at breakfast
clean, modern, nice breakfast, close to airport
expensive shuttle service, 25$ to airport, for this money you can reach hotel in the downtown, with breakfast included :)
Conveniently located relative to the airport (closer would have been better). I also like that the Spur is part of the complex.
Difficulty in using printer.... 'Business centre' could be better equipped.
Courteous and friendly staff
The friendliness and professionalism of the staff. Our room was vey comfortable and always clean. The food was good and the chef very accommodating. Our stay was excellent. We would recommend this hotel and we would stay here again.
Hotel very convenient to both airports. Staff very pleasant and helpful
Buffet was a little expensive for what was available
vicinity to the Airport and the restaurant/menu choices.
A complimentary shuttle to/from the airport would be most appreciated.
Located conveniently near Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for stopovers - 15 minutes drive. Room was clean. Wake up call at 5.15am made on time.
We had a bad experience because the hotel failed to send anyone to collect us at the airport, even though we had booked a late night pick up in advance. We waited in the confusion of the airport arrivals exit, in the dark and pouring rain, for nearly an hour but no one came from the EKA. We called the hotel but no one answered. Eventually a driver from the Intercontinental offered to take us, so we went with him. Check in staff at the EKA were completely unconcerned and surly. We were tired and upset, our bags were soaked but hotel staff were totally unaccommodating. We were told the driver sent to meet us had broken down but not reported this to the hotel. Eventually my husband persuaded the duty manager to give a small discount on our room which was we believe our due in the circumstances. We cancelled their transfer booked for early morning and went with Samuel, the Intercontinental driver, as we felt no confidence in the EKA hotel service. Incidentally, we noticed early the next morning as we waited for our driver that there were two fully functioning hotel mini buses working perfectly well, which casts doubt on the "breakdown" story. The room was functional, but noises of other guests from the corridor woke us throughout the night. The bed was hard, the stuffed foam pillows uncomfortable. For these reasons I would not recommend the EKA hotel.
Shower and toilets open in the room... not very nice set-up. No information was given on that matter prior to reservation.
hotel security and ambience were excellent
pre-arranged ride from airport didn't happen and that was the primary reason I booked this hotel
