I can say the staff were so friendly and made me comfortable. I was traveling solo but I never felt lonely! Good job! I will go back again. The resort is beautiful!
The gentleman who checked me in the night I arrived 17/11/14. His attitude wasn't so welcoming and ended up assigning me a room I hadn't requested for.but thankfully the issue was resolved the next day I was upgraded.
Wifi not working in my room
relaxation, great food, no hassle, lovely people
Seaweed on beach but this was just a tie of season thing
Kids club is good it motivates them to collect points and redeem for prize.
I was not impressed by the food.
food decent. Free beer . Nice staff.
The bees everywhere.
I liked the location, different food, pricing was ok. Was limited activities. Staff was friendly.
Animation programs was good but nothing happend apart from water polo and darts. We were looking forward to water aerobics, beach volleyball. We had to drag the staff to make them organize these activities. Though they were friendly, but they should be more lively. In an all inclusive hotel action in the day and night it's what attracts the guests to want to come back. In the night it was dead. The dancers came late. Children were so tired they couldn't wait to see the show. After the dancers the disco was indescribable. Patience was wonderful with the kids :-). Waiters need to be more efficient, it took time before they came back with an order. Thank you Malcolm
Beautiful sand beach and clear water. Resort beach area with chairs and comfy cushions were great! Rank and file employees friendly and helpful. Management provided a room fridge gratis when informed we needed for meds and breast milk. Child-minder Beverly competent and kind with our 7 month old. Kids' Club/Fun Base staff did their best with limited resources available to them. Pizzeria very good. Cocktails were good, and kid's drinks such as "traffic lights" (grenadine, mango juice, blue sugar syrup) and coke floats were a hit after another friend told me about halfway through stay. Main clientele seems to be British pensioners who return year after year. Guests very tolerant of our infant and toddler. Resort tries to be kid friendly.
Low tide water ankle- to knee-deep a far way out, making snorkeling or any watersports challenging. Jellyfish and lots of seaweed at high tide. No shells, and illegal to collect anyway. Sometimes aggressive hawkers and "entertainers" on public beach. Resort advertises free water sports, but only free for first 1/2 hour. Resort advertises snorkeling gear available for checkout but in reality they have a pile of old mismatched gear left behind by previous guests that you can rummage through. Gift shop sells mask and snorkel sets but no staff member bothered to tell me as I discovered on last day at checkout. The room infested with ants and spiders and the poolside and restaurant with ants and bees. Main restaurant menu repetitive and heavy on Indian/Swahili dishes, not much for picky young Mzungus. Saw a restaurant staff moving a lit chafing dish through seating area and dropped it which started a fire a few yards from my 2 and 7 year old--very scary. Feral cat wandering outdoor restaurant attracted attention from young kids. No TV or internet in room. Wi-Fi in lobby or main dining room only at reasonable fee for 24 hrs of access. Room safe too small to fit laptop but might squeeze your tablet. A/C worked great but has to be restarted with remote after every power outage. Lots of power outages in middle of night. Loud music starts poolside at 9:15pm. Could feel base from our room on other side of resort. Checkout 10 am, not later as indicated on Booking.com. A second room key requires 4000 Ksh deposit. No deadbolt on room door, and lock design allowed cleaning staff to accidentally lock our babysitter inside the room! Small resort hosting 2 large groups of spring breakers. HS students well behaved but dominated pool. Younger group rowdy and poorly supervised. My 7 year old was assaulted in pool. IMHO too many young children with no lifeguard-a tragedy waiting to happen.
I cant praise this hotel highly enough, I have stayed there quite a few times now and I have never been disappointed. Highly recommended !
I got a great all inclusive price (incl alcohol) of 90 US at this terrific beach resort. But my friends also paid that much EACH for three in the room. So I really got a lovely solo holiday.
The food is okay, nothong really great. Some of the staff want to "get you a deal" or ask to take you on a tour. And I'm a 58 yr old woman! But that's all over Kenya.
Lovely staff, Food wonderful. No complaints whatsoever
Helpful and friendly Staff, hotel location, entertainment, All inclusive F&B, value for money
pillows are very lumpy, shower power poor.
We booked two rooms , in different categories and at the check in we got upgraded to beach front rooms! We loved the 4 o'clock fresh baked pancakes ( and for hungry teenagers they even prepare a midnight snack!)
You do have a fridge in your room but an empty one. It would be nice to have some drinks in there.
It was a great location. We stayed during New Years, dinner and party was good. Much better then the rest of our stay. The staff are very friendly. The older lady in the gift shop was the best! She was just so sweet. Our anniversery package was very thoughtful.
Where do we start...It started off wrong, our transfer was not arranged, but I booked it and called for confirmation a few days of our arrival. Then our more expensive room, was next to the public toilet and the bathroom smelled like a public toilet too.... We ended up paying even more and took the honeymoon suite, which was situated at the quiet side with a quiet adult only pool. If you are not that picky with food and have kids, it's a great place. But we don't have kids and we enjoy good food, so that was not so great for us. It's super loud if you book the more expensive rooms down at the beach, every night there is a disco going on, music till midnight! You pay more, you get less sleep! As an all inclusive resort, the alcohol was horrible, besides the beer. Basically it felt like I was trown back into time when I was 16 and didn't care about the resort, food, ambiance, it was party party party, a place to sleep, free food and booze. So if you like that kinda places, Turtle bay is your place, if not, find something else.
Everything. I have become a true fan on Turtle Bay
it is located in a beautiful beach. staff are very kind and friendly.
food quality was poor. it was the worst open buffet food i ever saw. the buffet varity and even paid drink quality were very poor. there was no wifi except the loby area. room mini bar was empty and kept like it even it is all inclusive hotel
Pool, Water Sports, Rooms
The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Meals are often a concern as my daughter and I are vegan, however, your kitchen staff ensured that our food contained no animal products. Thanks you. It was amazing value for money and I hope to return next year.
Well, it is difficult to expect from a 3-star hotel more. Rooms are hardly clean, towels overused and threads are here and there. Everything is very old. I believed a couple of years ago the hotel was very good, but now it is just aged. Staff tries to be friendly. But waiters are well- mannered only with those who tip them a lot. If you do not do this they don't even take an empty plate away. This disappointed me. Food is less than average and it was an issue. I think a lot what I eat and I was surprised that one day there was nothing for me for dinner... Everything is made on grill or in a deep fryer... Soup with shrimps - we had one tiny shrimp for two... Some days pork, lamb and that was it. A lot of sweets. No vegetables for breakfast. But there is Pizza Garden. I should admit that this place is good! Nice waiters and very good food!!! But to eat pizza or some other Italian food all the time is quite difficult no matter how good it is. Beach was covered with seaweeds. They were everywhere on the beach and in the water. Watamu is famous for its endless beaches, but we saw endless seaweed. But I have to mention that it depends a lot on time of your visit, because locals told that seaweed goes away in december. As it is the Indian Ocean there is no way to avoid low tides and high tides. During low tide you can snorkel and see a brilliant reef not far from a hotel. Just near the hotel you can find a lot of sea life and moray eels! That is stunning!!! Beach boys are only on the beach. There is a great plus that the hotel has its own territory for sunbathing and no beach boys are allowed there! That is fantastic! By the way they suggest very high prices! We have expected more from this all inclusive hotel. It is quite overrated and a bit overpriced. But it is just a 3-star hotel.. If you don't expect anything, probably you can enjoy.
