Centrally located in Siem Reap City, Chateau d'Angkor La Residence is a convenient 10 minute walk to the famous Old Market (Phsar Chas) and the lively Pub Street.
Score from 774 reviews Wonderful
Good location: just the opposite side of the river from the Old Market. Walking distance from Pub Street and Night Market, but far enough of its noises. Several good restaurants nearby. Very helpful staff. Excellent breakfast. Two swimming pools.
Noise coming from the the water tank.
Breakfast Ok but staff has no idea of coffee and dishes...just standing around?
Just about everything...ripped carpet, poor internet connection and bad TV reception.
Nice hotel with friendly staff and good food.
Pools are small and near the road.
The location is great and the staff were spot on ... The rooms and breakfast were a winner!
Another lift in the building would have been good but as there are only 5 floors it's not too far to walk :-)
Breakfast - lots of choices. Communication in English is not a problem. Tour arrangement by the hotel staff is hassle-free. Full Moon Bar at the 5th floor - sunset view should not be missed. King's Road Village with good cafe's and restaurants including Hard Rock Cafe is nearby.
Nothing we did not like.
Very good location, free wifi
housekeeping was a bit careless
Close to main part of town.
We emailed through a reservation stating what we required for bedding arrangements for our kids day before checking in. The booking was confirmed via email. Upon arrival I confirmed verbally with staff bedding arrangements were suitable & was made to pay before progressing to room, which is Normal & ok. Upon entering room I asked where is bed, I got response you'll have to pay extra $20 per night... After much talking the fee was finally dropped. Suggest staff read bedding request & take better note of verbal communication upon check in before confirming & leaving patron confused & frustrated and questioning integrity of hotel.
- friendly staff - good location near city centre - pool in the centre of the hotel - breakfast
- over politeness of the staff, but I guess that counts for the whole of the Cambodians.
I specifically chose to stay at the Royal Crown again, with the following reasons being high on the list...proximity to everything, room size/space, can open the window instead of A/C at night, fantastic buffet breakfast, room comfort, bathroom, free wifi, pool facilities, rooftop bar. Staff are so helpful and go out of their way to help organise things if you require it. We also had an early start and they kindly packed us a takeaway breakfast.
I felt that the 'sparkle' of the reception area/entrance had deteriorated a little since my last visit a year ago. Maybe a spring clean/polish? The public computers are slow (compared to the wifi) and really need an update.
Poor staff. They must be trained a lot to become a professional team.
Breakfast was very good.Swiming pool was small but nice.
Some of staffs were not helpful or just business mind. Noise from next door.
The room was dirty - especially the bathroom. I asked for the bathroom to be cleaned again and found someone trying to do it with just a dry towel.
Handy for temples and Market area, without being disturbed by noise. Comfortable room.
Misleading marketing. Rooms supposed to have balcony and pool or city view. Didn't have balcony or views. One free airport trip advertised but later found out it can only be used 'from' not 'to' airport.
Free transfer from the airport to hotel with tuk-tuk. Very good breakfast. Organizing whole day visit to ankor and other sites.within walking distance to the centre of nightlife.
About 100 meters of unpaved road from the square to the hotel is not pleasant on a tuk-tuk.
by all means this hotel is a high class for Seam Reap
very expensive, you can find a good hotel several times cheaper in SR, then this one
Great location; close to markets & Pub St. Terrific shower; great water pressure & constant temperature. Comfortable bed & great curtains to block out light when needed. Moon Bar was fantastic to sit and relax of a night time; staff there were great (music not so good at times). Breakfasts were magnificent - lots to choose from - just loved it. Air conditioner was terrific; absolutely no problems there.
WiFi, although free, was patchy or non-existent at times. If you need an iron make sure you give them plenty of notice; it will come eventually but there is no ironing board.
Super location for walking to shops, old market and restaurants. Excellent breakfast and relaxing atmosphere. Nice large bedrooms.
We were a honeymoon couple and the hotel took great care of us. They let us enter the room a few hours early.
- location, - responsive staff - good breakfast
No iron Rock hard bed
Staff were pleasant and helpful Location was great. Walking distance to the Old Market and Pub Street
Breakfast buffet selection quite limited Bedbugs!!! Itch itch itch.
Great location awesome brekfast
Wifi was a hassle to log into and stay onlin
Close by to everything.nice staff clean and tidy hotel. Nice pools. Good choice at breakfast
No dislikes just if you want to relax by the pool get there early as the pool area isn't the biggest as it's a great little sun trap
The location and food at the restaurant
The pool was too cold.
This hotel was relatively modern. We booked a balcony room, however they were out and upgraded us to a suite on fifth floor. Balcony only looks over swimming pool, so it is not really worth it. The rooms were nice and large and most of the hotel is constructed from hardwoods giving a very sturdy feel to it. The rooftop terrace is great as is the cockatoo at the pool!
Some of the fittings were coming apart in the bathroom. The shower is unusable as it varies radically from cold to steaming hot without touching the tap. It would be nice of you could have the room air-conditioned when not there. When you remove the room key all power is cut including the air conditioning and the alarm clock! The concierge was a bit aloof. The second swimming pool's tiles are coming off and the steps at the other one is dangerously slippery. The hotel is in a beautiful old colonial building and for some insane reason the renovators decided to stick a great big reflective glass facade to its front. This is totally ruining the look of the building. Looking at the rest of Siem Reap (and Cambodia) we realised that this was a national problem.
