The Somadevi Hotel enjoys a great location in Siem Reap, just a 10-minute drive from the world famous Angkor Wat Temple and a 5-minute walk from the popular Pub Street.
Score from 430 reviews Excellent
Location was great with pub street and the old market within easy walking distance. Also very close to the Angkor temple complex. Breakfast buffet in the morning was good and the internet was fast.
Expensive food but your close to a variety of cheap food options.
Staff were excellent, breakfast was nice, pool area was relaxing. Enjoyed my stay there. The location was excellent...
Wifi was intermitent and dropped out a fair bit. The signal wqs ok in some pqrts of the room but not if sitting on the bed but would shortly drop out anyway. Found the best way to fix that was to just go to a cafe and use their wifi.
Good location, staff is nice, good swimming pool &breakfast...
Aircon was noisy but works fine.
I liked everything!
- Everything, staff were amazing - hotel provided tuk tuk driver was exceptional, always polite and attentive to our every need - hotel tours agent was very informative in helping us plan our time in Siem Reap - Breakfast was amazing
- couldn't fault a single thing
First time ever that I was forced to pay in advance (during the check-in) the entire rate for the room. It was not sufficient the pre-authorization with the credit card, they wanted me to pay the room rate for the 3 nights even before having a look at the room. The responsible at the front desk was annoying. It is a pity because the other staff is very kind and helpful.
Excellent and attentive staff
Wifi coverage was not extensive, may be hard to get connectivity in e corner rooms.
I was nice hotel just 5 mins walking to night market and street bar. The staff are very friendly and good service. The hotel room is big and clean, just a bit elevator was broken so we have to carried the suitcase from 5th floor to the lobby.
We loved this hotel, great location at the edge of Siem Reap, away from the noise but short walking distance from the markets and restaurants. The pool was wonderful and hardly ever anybody else in it. The breakfast buffet had plenty of choice and nice tables to sit at. The in-house spa open until 11pm meant we could shuffle downstairs in our bathrobes for a traditional Khmer massage before bed - they provide you with a t-short and elephant trousers to wear during the massage so it feels very comfortable and unintimidating. Bedroom was very large and comfortable. Balcony did not provide a view but we didn't want to sit there anyway as we were out and about, and provided plenty of light and a good spot to hang swimmers to dry. In terms of nearby facilities, a shop next door washes clothes for a dollar a kg and a store a few more doors down rents bicycles for a few dollars a day if you want to explore the wats by bike, great fun (wear a hat as take water!) Night markets are just down the road.
Honestly, hard to find any criticisms. And I am quite picky! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I'm sure there are plenty of much cheaper places to stay in Siem Reap, and if you arrange trips with the hotel desk they cost more than if you strike a bargain with tuk-tuk drivers on the street. But in my view it's worth the little extra cost for a lovely luxury experience, and you're putting money back into the pockets of hard-working Cambodian people and the country's tourism economy, which is no bad thing. Stay here! It's a great base for exploring the area.
The tour desk organised our guide Hiet Seng Hout who has a wealth of knowledge and is very well admired by many people we passed during the day..I recommend you ask for him personally. The hotel is well positioned to Pub street and the markets it's just a short walk.
A little overpriced .breakfast was not as good as other hotels of the same rating
I like the breakfast very much, the excellent staff ,excellent location
not any more
staff polite, variety of food
Excellent location and very good price for 2 rooms for 5 nights....
There were tons of staff and all very nice. Shower was delightful. close to everything, but but just far enough to make it feel a bit more relaxing Elephant waterfall in pool was like a free massage Staff was really really quick and helpful!
Buffet was GREAT, barely needed to eat lunch! Not enough lounge chairs at pool. Pool was all one depth, so my non swimming friend couldn't go in :(
Spacious room, comfortable bed, complimentary airport pick up, located near good restaurants, satisfying buffet breakfast
Rooms are quite dated
The room was lovely and the staff so incredibly helpful and nice
Bathroom, beds rooms, breakfast, staff, top level bar, a lovely place to relax after a busy day.
We stayed in the Penthouse Suite for a more than reasonable price. The high levels of customer service from the staff were exemplary throughout our trip, from all members of staff. The location was excellent for shopping, eating and booking excursions to Angkor. This hotel didn't disappoint.
nice staff,good breakfast,beautiful pool,capacious room
ash and dust on the road in front of the hotel all the time, wifi not good in the room
The two pools are really helpful after a day in Angkor Wat, the price is fair, and you're a walk away from the most importan shopping and restaurant streets in Siem Reap
Clean, comfortable room, walking distance to old market and pub street, affordable massage in the hotel, good breakfast.
Staff really friendly and a great breakfast.
Bar closes at 10pm
Staff were polite and friendly Breakfast buffet was very good Rooms were neat and tidy Salt water pool was good
Very good hotel with impeccable service and good situation. Great breakfast buffet before a long day visiting the Angkor temples.
Aircon in the room could have been a little stronger, but good enough for a quality sleep.
Everything was really good you can't expect more.
