With so many options of places to stay in Siem Reap, it comes down to your preferences in accommodations. As a husband and wife on the wrong side of our 30's, we tend to look for laid back, yet conveniently located hotels that offer cleanliness, good wifi, and superior service. I don't give out many 5 star reviews, but Rumahmu deserves it. Vivi, originally from Indonesia, is one of the best hostesses and hotel managers we've come across in our travels. Accompanied on staff by her French boyfriend and her daughter, along with other great individuals, they go to to great means to insure their guests are very well taken care of.
The hotel is about a 10-15 minute walk from the hustle and bustle of night markets, Pub Street, and the city centre of Siem Reap. Located down a quaint dirt road, once you enter the gates, a beautifully manicured garden, gazebo, and small swimming pool welcome you. The front porch area has tables setup to enjoy the high quality breakfast; ala carte items that are cooked to order. The rooms are delightfully decorated, large in size, with wonderful bathrooms including enclosed stand up showers. Excellent wifi throughout the hotel.
Vivi is the icing on the cake though. Extremely friendly, chatty, she just cares about her guests' experience. My wife would often sit with her behind the reception desk for happy hour and enjoy her company and friendly conversation. She arranges your very own tuk tuk driver to tour you through Angkor Wat at very reasonable prices. Plus transport to/from airport or bus driver. A very special thanks to our tuk tuk driver, misspelled name, but pronounced Too-ee. We loved him.
As you can tell, we highly recommend this hotel. Outstanding service and exceptional value, overall a great stay.
