Nice warm welcome, staff helpful, room clean and nice pool and facility's. It's a bit out of town but staff help book a cheap tuk tuk for getting into town for a meal or driving around temples. We had a lovely smiley tuk tuk driver (between $15-30 depending on how far), not pushy or sleazy (as many others can be), he was quiet but friendly, careful and attentive.
We did book a temple guide through the hotel, he wasnt very good. But in the hotels defence we did book it last minute. I also wish the hotel had warned us about the massive scam that is the 'floating village'. More like robbing-river-gypsie-scam-town. This isn't really the hotels fault just a heads up for other travellers.
Pool- staff-location near Wat Bo
Free bicycles are a bit rough. I think I broke my buttocks!
Western breakfast, comfty bed , nice staff .
The hotel is located in a crappy zone, the street going there is terrible! The shower has a terrible system it soaks the whole bathroom when taking a shower. The room looked dirty all the time. Stains on the floor and the walls! The swimming pool wasnt working
Very little, we were upgraded at no additional cost and therefore got 2 queen sized beds!
Wouldn't usually write a bad review but this hotel does not deserve the rating it has currently. We are two girls travelling and have been staying for 6 weeks now in a variety of places from £4-£25 and this is by far the worst place we have stayed. Firstly the room. The toilet had not been cleaned (was improved by even flushing it), the shower door did not close and there were no towels in the bathroom. The room was covered in bugs and lizards, counted at least 5 grasshoppers, cockroaches, lizards during our 3 night stay. The power also broke in our room, but the hotel were quick to fix it at least! Secondly, breakfast was basic and not very nice. Although it was edible! Finally and the biggest complaint I would have to make would be the staff, having seen another guest arguing with staff I am sure this isn't a one time complaint! The desk staff were polite and organised us a tuk tuk tour of Angkorwat for a price of $15 (which was above the price you could haggle but not too bad). The man that took us dropped us by the first temple and we agreed a meeting point. On our return he was not there, we walked around for an hour attempting to find him and he has clearly taken someone else! We then had to pay another driver to get around the beautiful sights of Angkorwat. When we arrived at our hotel no apology was given, and even worse we were charged on our room bill for the driver that had left us! We argued this should be removed and we were told we couldn't! After complaining we managed to only pay $5! I would not recommend this hotel as is more hassle than it's worth!
The manager was the most helpful member of staff I've ever met in a hotel - would always chat to us on our way out or coming back in. He took time when we arrived to show us where we were on a map of Siem Reap, arranged a tuk-tuk for us, and recommended activities to do. Small things, but made the difference. The room was also quite nice, clean, comfortable, as was the bathroom. Free computer to use for internet in the recepetion area
The swimming pool is currently being built (June 2014) - but when we booked we thought there was a swimming pool available to use. (There is a 'sister' hotel that you can use the pool at - but is a 5min tuk-tuk each way, and you're expected to buy a drink whilst you're there for the privilege - obviously this wouldn't be the case if there was a pool at Samros)
The great hotel! the owners are fantastic! (and they speak chinese and english) also they didn't change the price for Chinese new year. and I missed the breakfast for some minutes, and they prepared it for me, was so grateful to them!! their price for tuk-tuk rent (Angkor Wat, Floating village) was the best one I could find. Very cozy!
The staff was wonderful. The bed was comfortable.
The road which leads to the hotel is very bad with full of potholes. Also the hotel does not have kitchen so even for breakfast you need to go out & struggle.
New facility, everything is clean and kept clean. Air con works well. Very friendly and service-oriented staff. About a 10-15 minute walk from the river and a few minutes more to the old market; but there is always at least one tuk-tuk on duty as well. Washing and ironing one set of laundry per person is included free each day, and bicycle use is also free.
There were two annoyances: 1) when we turned on the kettle to make coffee, with the air-con on, it tripped the circuit breaker. Can't run both at the same time. More of a nuisance: their definition of hot water equates to slightly taking the chill off the cold water. There was no hot water to speak of. In this climate it's bearable, but still....
