Very helphul and friendly stuff, clean rooms, good localization, loundry and bicycle serwis, good price
The staff were amazing, all super friendly and very helpful. The location was brilliant for exploring the city. The breakfast was very good given the price you are paying.
This hotel is away from the highest concentration of tourists. It's at least a 10 minute walk from the river. Some reviewers didn't really like the Western style breakfast of basic eggs and bread. I agree, so I recommend having the Cambodian breakfasts of noodle soup or pork/rice instead. They're delicious and will keep you going for several hours.
Sam So is set off the main road so is quieter and amongst local houses. This makes for a great location and it was nice having the included breakfast outside feeling as if you were amongst the locals. A reasonable but walkable distance from the action centre of Siem Reap. The owner Mr Sam So and his Wonderful wife and staff did everything to make our stay enjoyable and invited us to their daughters birthday party. We had such a wonderful time and were honoured to share the celebration with them. Loved this place and would definitely recommend and stay again. Thanks again to the owners and staff.
Nothing worth noting
approach to guests is excellent
In addition to all the basic necessities that Sam So offers, the place is even better because of the added service of the staff. Sam So himself greeted us and showed us to our room. We had an affordable tuk-tuk that we arranged at the desk that took us and picked us up from wherever we wanted, always promptly and friendly. For us, we couldn't imagine coming back to Siem Reap and not staying at Sam So again. Excellent value!!
The staff are approachable, the place is comfy and affordable and and breakfast is free.
when there is brownout and it takes time to use generator
among all other guest houses and hostels we have been to on our trip through asia, the people of sam so guest house were by far the nicest and friendliest. we enjoyed our stay big times! the free breakfast includes 4 different kind of foods to choose from (e.g. sandwich, omelette), each coming with fresh fruits and coffee or tea. we got picked up from the airport for free. we had tuk tuks taking us all around the angkor temples, organised by the hostel's stuff for a reasonable price. located in the centre of siem reap, you can walk around easily.
very nice building, clean rooms, great staff, good breakfast location within walking distance from downtown, about 20 mins
Very friendly and helpfull staff! Mr. SAMSO speaks german, italian, english and i think many more languages very well! Good angkor trip! ( do the first tour and the rest by yourself)
Not very clean. Didnt get new toilett paper every day Breakfast okay!
For the price this is a winner! Quiet but only a few steps from a busy street with restaurants, bars and travel agencies, a ten minute walk to Pub Street, bicycles for rent ($1/day) for tours at Angkor, whatever you wish for breakfast, extended family living next door very happy to have you there and sincerely willing to help and be there for you. Big room, large windows with mosquito nets. Free coffee and tea!
Unfortunately the in S.E.Asia hotels are skipping mosquito nets over beds.
Really friendly and helpful staff. Great value and a comfortable room.
We opted for a room without A/C and it was pretty stuffy at night.
Very kind staff
Lot of noise some mornings
Their location is near the old market and pub street They have services like free pickup from the bus station
Their price for tuk-tuk is too expensive. They charged us $25 for the outer circle while the market price is only $18 Plus, their price for car renting is $70, yet the market price is $60. The facilities there is too bad
very nice landlady and nice staff, excellent surroundings, reasonable price, good breakfast... so many things that I want to thank them for their super-good treatment!!
Staff were very helpful and friendly. Booked all guides and trips through the guest house - circus is really amazing, recommended. Let us shower before our flight after we had checked out - very accommodating. Drove us to a dinner reservation. Room is basic but comfortable. Wifi worked the whole time we were there, with no issues. Only had one meal there, which was tasty.
Pillows and bed had a bit of a musty smell to them, pillowcases might help this or using synthetic fabrics.
Sam So Guesthouse is a great place to stay - only about 10 minutes' walk from the popular Night Market / Pub Street, while being situated in a quiet courtyard itself. Breakfast was simple but good and the owners are very friendly and helpful. We had a great time, and would recommend renting bikes directly from the hotel to visit the temples (a dollar per day per bike, and so much fun!).
Room could have been a little cleaner and everything was a little worn, but really, at this price, Sam So is a great place to stay!
Guesthouse is 5-10 minutes walk from main old market area. This makes it a nice and quiet place to stay. It is a good value for money especially since the facilities look more like a 3 star hotel than a guesthouse.
Very friendly and kind staff. The room was very spacious and always cleaned well. I enjoyed its peaceful environment.
Airport pick up staff misunderstood the appointed time, but it's just a small mistake.
The staff are warm and friendly, the rooms large, and bicycles are available for rent at $1 per day. The shower was good and, although seemingly like all others in Cambodia in the middle of the bathroom, it was at least possible to direct it away from the toilet. The guesthouse is some way from Pub St ... probably 15 mins walk. Definitely a good place to stay.
The tiny tiny soaps: one for the whole three nights I stayed and, like the small amoint of toilet paper, never renewed. Also I felt the staff were probably missing an opportunity to provide more information on tours and on the general area. Taking my shoes off every time I came in and out was a bit of a pain in my large lace-up shoes ... but I guess that is my problem.
