IP Boutique Hotel, Itaewon  

Our room was the "Rubic's cube room" facing east on 12th floor with a great view over the Samsung Museum and Louise Bourgeois' spiders! The location in Itaewon was perfect for catching a subway or City Tour Bus and bus(6030) from the airport stopped right in front of the hotel...and close to all kinds of shopping, restaurants, and services. The bed was very comfortable, great duvet, the bathroom was large if a tad overlit! All amenities were good (Crabtree & Evelyn products). This hotel is quite quirky and each room is special! Ours was particularly special with ceiling mirrors everywhere (!) Front desk staff was helpful. The swings in the lobby were lots of fun! WiFi worked very well and was fast.

The breakfast was way overpriced. We only at there once. $40.00 for two for that meal is a bit outrageous. We went down the street to Paris Baguette and ate for about $12.00 for two! The person who cleaned our room did not do a good job of vacuuming and on our arrival, we found chocolate pcs. By the bed, money under the bed (!) The bathroom was well looked after every day with amenities refreshed and clean towels. The dark floors near the elevator were a bit disconcerting! An east facing room brings light to the room very early in the am. We didn't mind so much but this may bother some guests.

Internet connection in room unsatisfactory. Could not always connect, and when it did, it was painfully slow. Coffee machine in room not satisfactory for tea making. Water is not hot enough.

It was ok. I had to call for toilet roll and towels. I arrived late after 10pm from an overseas flight and without luggage!! I was tired and hungry - but I couldn't get any service for food or anything they did not even try or help me. Traveling for almost 21 hours exhausted and hungry and a stranger in the country I was not made to feel welcome at all. This was not nice hotel policy or not I do believe they could have helped.

The passage was very dark. No food or service after 10pm I arrived after 10pm from a long journey 21 hours in flights - delayed and lost luggage so no case! No help or service - stranger in a strange country! Had to ask for toilet rolls and towels.

Free Wi-Fi / luxurious rooms / funky decor / good range of amenities in room / great view / lots of facilities / attentive staff with great English for foreigners

The ip Boutique Hotel is in a fantastic location, just steps from plenty of places to eat and shop in Seoul. The rooms were clean and well appointed. I found the reception staff and concierge fantastic to deal with when requesting directions, booking tours or asking for notes in Korean to pass on to cab drivers. Hope to stay here again in the future!

Some front desk staff were rather cold.

For the second time I was upgraded to suite...I Always stay at this hotel when I go to Seoul and staff recognized me every time now!

The location is great! Room are actually very quiet.

The design is not what I expected, the hotel's cental heater is very hot. Luckily we got the room that has open window, I did met some other traveller complaining about the room temperature. I think the whole design boutique hotel reputation is over rated.

Great location. I really liked the view we had from the room.

But yes, very strange that the hallways in the hotel are so dark, and that the showers are so low. I think charging over 300,000won on a Saturday night is ridiculous, which is why I stayed Friday night for 224,000won instead. Still a lot of money!

Clean, friendly, great location.

Strangely overheated. Impossible to open windows, circulation of cool outside air was minimal. Management was aware of this design flaw, unable to change it.

The hallway was too dark, not enough outlets close to the desk for making a good working environment.

I was very well-received at reception; the rooms are very nice; fantastic bathtub, towels, robe, linens. And, lots of power outlets!

The corridors are so darkly lit. What's the point of having art on each floor if you can't see it? It's makes what is otherwise a very nice business hotel look more like a seedy Korean love-motel. (But don't let the corridors fool you; it is a nice business hotel.)
