IP Boutique Hotel, Itaewon  

One review said that staying in Itaewon, you don't feel like strangers because this is the place where foreigners hang out. I did not think of it as a plus point at first but its really useful to stay at a place like that. Many shop owners know basic greetings in my language (Malaysia). The place is strategic. Secondly, you'll never find any other buildings around Itaewon which is as colourful as this one. They have unique features in the lobby which makes it unforgettable for visitors such as a huge yellow chair where people didn't miss taking pictures or videos. Some reviews said the dark hall around hotel rooms seems scary but I do not think its that bad. Yes its dark but not to the extent that its hard to see and find your room. Its carefully dimmed and I think its brilliant. One more, if you love watching sunrise, this is a perfect hotel for you :)

Actually I had to buy bedding cause they dont allow extra bed in my room (1 bed queen size) maybe cause not enough space. But if they allow it, I would rate them as "strongly recommended". I do think the space is limited given the choice of room, but if they find a way, they really made themselves distinguishable.

My husband and I enjoyed this hotel very much. With our two daughters aged 7 and 3, it was so ideal as there was an airport limousine bus that brought us there from the airport (1 minute walking distance from bus stop to hotel entrance) and the same bus that picked us up going back to the airport right in front of the hotel! Location was excellent as there were many restaurants and shops around the hotel, even mini marts. But most of all, the reception staff, especially Mr. Chris Lim was so helpful with all our inquiries - from where to take our daughters, taxi rides, where to shop, where to eat - they were so cheerful and helpful! Housekeeping was also great, and everytime we requested for things to be brought to our room, they were very quick in delivering what we needed. The buffet at their coffee shop was also delicious, and we were even given a 15% discount! Our girls enjoyed staying here, as their lobby had swings they played at! We will definitely stay in this hotel again!

Only one thing though, we went there on the last week of October till early November, and the weather was not as cold anymore. The hotel's heating system was in place, and there were no airconditioning systems on. There were two small windows we could open for air to come in, and on our last two nights, this was not enough. It was not comfortable as it was a bit hot, without any aircon on. We called the reception and they apologized for the current set-up, but immediately sent an electric fan to our room to help at least make our room cool. This at least helped us on our last nights.

Very good value for money! Attractive contemporary design of the hotel! Good location for shopping!

i liked everything about the hotel. the location was very close to metro station (just down the street), it was very clean, had an unique interior, staff were competent in english and were friendly at all times. we also had a problem with our toilet one morning and they sent up a plumber within 5 minutes of telling them the problem.

Very good location in Itaewon. Modern and design hotel. Much nicer rooms than in the Hamilton Hotel.

I sent 3 emails within a week at 2 different email addresses and I had no answer from them. I had eventually to call them several times to get the information I wanted. Not very flexible either. Many things are not included in the price of the room such as toothbrush and toothpaste, a bit strange for a Deluxe room (not a superior double as written below).

This is such a fabulous hotel in many ways! Hip, happening, glam, boutique (in a word) but also a serious (real) hotel with staff who go out of their way to make your stay brilliant. It's not fussy, comfortable and it feels totally luxurious. I was nervous about staying in Itaewon (too many foreigners) but you can easily ignore that for the area amenities: airport shuttle at the hotel front, traditional Korean sauna across the road (went every day), very helpful Information kiosk at the Itaewon metro station, bus connectivity to major spots in the north, exotic global cuisine (Indian, Arabian, Thai etc)... of the list is endless. Really I would go back tomorrow and stay for a week. Very happy memories... thank you, IP Boutique Hotel!

Only one plug next to the desk for electronic items (charging).

I was disappointed with the professionalism of the hotel staff. When we checked in, we were made to stand outside our room as the door card system was malfunctioning and the staff who accompanied us to the room did not know what to do. At night, the ventilation in the room was very bad because the windows cant be openamd the air conditioning was not working. We were not informed during check in that the hotel was in the midst of changing their air conditioning system and that the air conditioning would be down. They only offered us a fan when we called to enquire. They also made false promises (twice in fact) that the air con would be up by the next day but until the day we checked out, the air con was still not working.

Excellent location, good design, nearest subway,restaurants. The best district in Seoul.

The easiness is what pleases me the most; easy to access with the airport buss which (more or less) stop just outside the door; the easy checking in (they basically just ask you for the credit card); the no fuzz staff (which never solicit tips like in the US); the easy mood (smiles all over; typical Asian maybe...); the easy access to the services in itawon (just outside the door) - yeah, the easy life offered is simply a delight!!

The gym is nothing to brag about; and where is the sauna - Seoul is very cold this time of the year!!!

The ip Boutique Hotel is in a fantastic location, just steps from plenty of places to eat and shop in Seoul. The rooms were clean and well appointed. I found the reception staff and concierge fantastic to deal with when requesting directions, booking tours or asking for notes in Korean to pass on to cab drivers. Hope to stay here again in the future!

Some front desk staff were rather cold.
