Location, I had to spend 6 hours before my next flight and the hotel is only 5 minutes drive from Airport.
The room was very cold
Location close to ALA airport Staff are friendly and helped me with most of my requests
No Wi-Fi at the room Not enough clean Overpriced for its level & comfort
Close to airport
Bed extremely uncomfortable. Corridor was full of building materials - not sure how safe that would be in the event of an emergency
Close proximity to airport
1. They advertise free airport shuttle, but then charged me 2000 tenge for the 5 min ride. 2. The lighting was dim throughout the hotel when I arrived and left. It felt creepy. 3. My room was on the 4th floor and it looked like it was under renovation and also dimly lit. 4. There was no extra lock on the inside of my door. 5. Breakfast wasn't served until 8AM but I needed to leave at 6:30AM. It would have been nice to have had a little continental breakfast, at least, for the people with early departures.
The receptionist was very helpful and courteous. She did the best she could given condition of the facilities.
- Approach was dark - Hotel was under renovation - 4th floor lift lobby dark and cluttered with renovation material - Room and bath recently renovated - clean but quality poor - Airport transfer was in a multi-utility van
Location, location! It's less than a 5-minute taxi ride from the airport (arrange with your driver to pick you up in the morning). Bring cash, as their card machine may not work, or use the ATM in the lobby. Also bring a bit of basic Russian language if you can. Basic bed, large rooms, and decent price.
The bed was not the most comfortable I've had, but still slept okay.
Proximatity to the airport
The eftpos machine (payment machine) didn't work The lift didn't work The air conditioner in the room didn't work No proper shower I think I was the only guest in the hotel Lock to room seem secure Staff unhelpful Ugly decor and hotel
The receptionist was fantastic, she was extremely helpful and spoke English which, but was the only one. Room wasn't thou roughly cleaned, towels were shabby with holes in and a refurbishment is well overdue. Location is convenient for the airport. Overpriced and under par.
Distance from airport Quiet
Reception was good. Hot shower is available.
Hotel man begged my cigarette. Very dark room. Light bulb was out of socket. Very dark and frightening way to hotel. Around USD100 per is no value for money.
Reception staff friendly and helpful
Room old and badly maintained.. shower stained and dirty. Breakfast very basic.. Return to the airport by shuttle: 2000tenge=12$ for less than one kilometer.. rip off!!
availability of van for airport
no restaurant available in walking distance
I only stayed for one night. I had escorted a group of Kazakh exchange students back after a year in the us and was taking a flight to London the next morning. Arrived 3 am Sunday morning and left 7 am Monday morning. They let me check in early and only charged me for one night. It is very close to the airport (only about 1/2 km), but I wouldn't try to walk there in the dark. Room was clean, if not modern. Bathroom facilities worked fine.
Free wi-fi signal is non-existent at the hotel, but there is a signal at the airport. So if you need to email, do it from there. Bed was totally uncomfortable once I was no longer sleep-deprived (I had been awake for nearly 45 hours by the time I arrived at the hotel - slept from 3 am until noon.) When I tried to sleep before my Monday flight, it was impossible due to the extreme firmness of the mattress. It felt as hard as a floor. English is not understood/spoken despite what listing says. I had a Russian speaker with me when I arrived, which was fortunate. I was able to get a shuttle which cost 2000 tenge to the airport. It would have been difficult to lug two bags but I guess I would have if I had not been able to make it understood I needed a taxi. Also, make sure you have cash. I was in the "Annex". I don't know if that makes a difference, but I imagine it might, and also a room in the main building might be different.
Near airport (will need taxi if dark - get one from outside the airport), 24 hour reception, spacious single room and bathroom
Shower leaked, bathroom was a little dirty, bed uncomfortable
Not a great deal, there was a friendly cat by the front door!!!
Rude abrupt reception staff, the room was pretty rubbish and mould all over shower basin. In my opinion, you should pay for a taxi into town and not use this as an airport hotel
Close to airport
To me it is a bed hotel
Just 8 minutes walk from airport
A bit shabby and overall not worth paying this great amount of money
Close to the airport
Poor breakfast Empty minibar Leaking water in the bathroom
Close to Airport Staff speak English a little bit Helpful Reception staff
Air conditioning remote was not working Central Heater is not controllable Not Allowed to buy beer or Alcohol although it was available but locked in a fridge. Restaurant staff not existing Staff shy to serve foreigners no service, if you don't ask you will get nothing no lift in the apartment buildings no porter service
Suggest you include a clear set of directions from Airport. I fond it ok but if you don't speak Russian it would be difficult, because you cannot see it from the airport. Its a 15 minute walk...out to the left hand side of the carper, past some building (actually a closed hotel) and turn left. Follow the road , past the Air Astana centre on the right, and Ekipage is at the first crossroads on the right. Opposite is a row of dilapidated garages/lock ups
Location near to airport
They lost our bookings, some rooms were difficult to find, lights not working, drains blocked, beds very hard and uncomfortable, very noisy when aircraft landed or took off
It really is the location if you want to stay close to the airport (10 min walk). And well, it is great if you want to warm up memories from long gone communist days :)
See the pics, don't expect any more then there is nothing to dislike. But if you stay in Almaty for more then 1 night, take the effort and go to town for a more comfortable place.
Airport transfer was great (up and down). They received me at the airport with the placard bearing my name and return was also prompt. Location is less than a mile from the airport. Great for transit.
Breakfast was awful. I mean stale food. Oatmeal tasted like the smell of old fungi infected bread. I skipped the breakfast (but no other eat options around). So i was hungry until I returned to the airport. Carpets were so dirty, i was scared to step out of bed. Bath towels were like 8 years old.
