If you are into private guesthouses with close relations to the owners, you will probably not find any place better than this. The hosting family are ready to help whereever they can to make you feel comfortable during your stay in Almaty. It is located within a network of narrow streets, that allows you to experience a part of the city, which you otherwise would not come to see. Without any hesitation I can recommend Guesthouse on Sadovaya.

Apart from the dogs in the neighboorhood I really did not dislike anything at all. Be aware, however, that the place might be hard to find due to its location.

What a welcome urban retreat! We stayed here on the tale-ends of our Central Asia trip and am so thankful for this guesthouse. The breakfast, the airport shuttle, the high quality of the bathrooms. After staying in 2 weeks of guesthouses, this one stands out as the best. Do get dinner at the kebab house on the street corner! The duck skewers were our favorite.

Great location, close to the city center but still very quiet. Vladimir was very hospitable and he picked us up from the airport at 2 am with no additional charge. He gave lots of recommendations too. We had a spacious room, a bathroom with a bathtub and wi-fi was working perfectly. The home-made breakfast was delicious.

Clean with helpful staff - for example helped me get a taxi to Bishkek. Very helpful to fellow guest whose luggage was lost by airline.

This is not the place if you don't speak some Russian since its really far from the central city and not near major streets. You have to be comfortable picking up a ride on the street and negotiating the fare and know where you are going.

This is one of the best guest houses you will ever stay in. Vladimir and his family are a warm and friendly family who take great lengths to ensure their guests are comfortable and happy. Airport transfers are free, breakfast is fantastic and the accommodation is excellent. The location is great and walking downtown only takes a few minutes. I highly recommend this guesthouse. If you are traveling to Almaty stay here!!

This place was magic! Apart from a wonderful, large suite which was super comfortable, Vladimir, the owner, and his mother made us feel supremely welcome. We were looked after as if we were good friends, but never smothered. A wonderful place...

There was really nothing not to like about this place. There was a ten to fifteen minute walk to the main streets and city centre, but that was easy and past some shops and restaurants, so really no hardship.

It is not the ritz, it is not the Plaza - it IS a genuine homely guesthouse - and the owner Vladamir is the best host you could wish for in a foreign land - could not do enough for you. with millions of faceless hotels out there, with their fake 'have a nice day's' - Vladamir is remenicent of a by gone era when hotel owners took real pride in real service to real guests..

Great location just on the edge of the city. Very quiet, and the guesthouse is in a nice shady garden setting. Excellent service from Vladimir, who will pick you up and deliver you to the airport all free of charge. The breakfast is enormous, cooked by Vladimir's very nice mother. You could not stay in a better place in central Asia.

A lovely family home guest house. Vladimir met us at 5am at the airport and provided a lovely breakfast on our first morning. He arranged a trip to the mountains outside Almaty and was exceedingly kind and helpful. House is spotless, beds comfortable, bathroom excellent. Excellent internet connection. Close to city centre and restaurants, shops etc. Highly recommended.

Nothing! An excellent place to stay if you prefer, as we do, homely comfortable and hospitable places to stay.

Very nice, caring and helpful owner, who always smile sweetly. The room, hallway and dining area are all very clean and comfortable. Breakfast is good and tasty, and is doubtless the best among all hotels we stayed in during our two weeks journey in Kazahstan and Uzbekistan. The wi fi is also the fastest. The area where the hostel is located is convenient and safe. It may not be easy to find on a first visit, but the free airport pick up and drop off service solve the problem. We stayed in this hostel twice, when we returned to it, we really feel like returning home. We shall have no hesitation recommending it to our friends.

What attracted me to this place are the reviews and I wasn’t disappointed. It is a big house with all standard facilities that you look for in hotel. The location is not far from Dostyk St. (10-15 minutes by walking). I liked the breakfast atmosphere. It was in the kitchen with one table for all guests. I had the pleasure to share the meal with a Norwegian couple who were vacationing in the area. Vladimir and his mother are very good hosts and willing to go beyond their job to make you feel comfortable

Brilliant. Very accommodating accommodation! Filling breakfast included in price - good value. Clean. The people running this place are very helpful and nice. The guest house is very centrally located for tourists (albeit within a small labyrinth of private houses, but they will provide you with a small local map to show you the way).

Nothing to make note of. Recommended.

Excellent facilities at budget prices. The owner himself picked me up from the airport and dropped back at 5 AM. I had gone for 2 day's conference and both days, he dropped to the conference venue and brought me back. He is a very helpful person indeed.

This is the best guest house I've ever stayed. The owner, Vladimir-san is ready to give a helping hand anytime you need, including free transportation to/from airport and wherever you need to go. He's just amazing. I gonna really miss his mom's big breakfast, especially her home-made cake and Kasha. If you are looking for a place to stay in Almaty, don't hesitate to book the Sadovaya right now. I'm sure you won't regret it.

So willing to help hosts. The owner was ready to drive around for various things like sim card, forex, finding few places in the city etc..

The owners did not know English but I guess if the communication is heart to heart it hardly matters...

Location is ideal: center, but quiet. Close to Skiing resort & to main sightseeing. The host Vladimir is great: very helpful, friendly & eager to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Breakfast is extremely big (feel full til the evening). Rooms are big, clean, nice. Everything is super!
