Personnel indifferent, did not make me feel welcome. The room in Block B was big enough but clearly neither designed nor furnished to be a hotel room. I could sleep OK. However, I'd have expected more of a (self-proclaimed?) 4-star hotel.

The location is good. The rooms are clean. The rooms are quite warm, despite --26 temperature outside. The elevators work very. It took sometimes 10 minutes to get in it. The function with a strange system and are very uncomfortable. The shower is very uncomfortable. There is nothing where you can hang the shower in order to stand under pouring water. Holding it in your hands is extremely inconvenient. The food is below average.

Friendly staff, good breakfast room was not vacuumed or dusted during a 3 day stay, no visible means of adjusting the room temperature except turning off the radiators and opening a window (not a great idea in winter) only one Russian produced english TV channel. No BBC, no CNN

I liked the setting, the space and the quiet atmosphere. The wi fi connection was very poor. Practically, there was no TV. It was like early 20th century service. Bad picture, very few channels.no response from staff to solve the problem. No telephone service. No answer from desk or room service. No soap except for the one bar I had when I moved in. No change of lennins. At the end of my stay I had only one towel from previous day. Sorry to be so frank but that is what happened.

Great breakfast buffet, everyone very nice. half of the staff spoke English. The concierge arranged an English speaking tour guide who was perfect. Excellent food in the dining room. The beds were too hard. Just a personal preference.

The location was very good. The staff were fairly friendly and polite. Free Wi-Fi in the lobby and on all 22 floors of the 4 blocks of the hotel. The breakfast was excellent. The security was good. This hotel has a 4 star rating, I wonder who awarded this rating? I would like to think I am fairly well travelled. I have stayed in numerous hotels all over Europe and I am sorry to that say this does not reach 3 star never mind 4 star. The shower heads in the bathroom of the room that I stayed in was crude and very poor. The panelling around the bath was very poor, the beds were rock hard and very small singles beds. Would have expected two double beds in a twin room in a 4 star hotel. Only 1 English speaking channel on the TV. No BBC, only Russia Today. Also noticed that wallpapering is very poor in the hotel, giving it a quirky poorly finished look. The orange juice at breakfast could be improved. The price of beer at the hotel bar was close to astronomical, converted to sterling it was close to £7 per 500 ml glass. In a comparable 4 star hotel in London a pint of lager is £3.05. This hotel needs major attention to minor details and maybe then it will be a 4 star hotel.

King Hotel Astana is a very great deal, value for money. Staff was very helpful and professional, and they were able to answer all my questions I had even if it was related to the city and its points of interest. Swimming pool - this is really missing. I was in Astana in July, middle of summer, on a city trip. I really missed the possibility of having a swim late in the afternoon

Friendly professional staff, keen to be of assistance. The taxi service charged to the room is of real value when one is unfamiliar with language. I stayed one week and in all that time the room was not vacuumed. There is no undersheet so the sheets are directly on the mattress, this is not very hygenic
