with the good location comes some noise at night from the streets

Very good value for money in a city where most hotels are on the expensive side. This is a still partially-soviet style hotel, ie. mixture of of cheaper single rooms with toilets but no shower (shower in the corridor) and double rooms with bathroom, and at each floor, 22-hr open small room with cleaning lady, where one can have hot water for tea, etc. The reception is very helpful, better is you can speak some basic russian of course. As of april 2013, I had no problem with wifi, it's good, the price was 1000 tg. (~€5) for 500 Mb traffic (down). They can also provide taxi for the airport without rip-off, at unbeatable rate: from ~1200 tg. (I ordered taxi for 06:00 at 1400). The location is central, just back the Green Bazar, so near Panfilov Park, and 10 min. walk from most downtown sights and activity. Green Bazar at the door down is very convenient to buy some fruit, drink or have local food cheap. You are in the heart of the city, not at a separate, artificial, bland, american-like, "western" chain.

Excellent value for money. Good location for city, but area a run down

It would be good to have more information packs about Almaty i.e. tourist guides, bus information,.. They should try to be more helpful in providing contacts with good , local, sensibly priced taxis,...

We got a great view of the mountains, complete with balcony, for one of the cheapest nightly prices in the city. The location, right across from the Green Bazaar and five minutes from the cathedral park, was great. One of the staff members, who worked quite regularly, is fantastic and speaks perfect English. She was super helpful! Maids and other staff were friendly as well.

The room only has one plug, which is needed if you want to use the TV or fridge. There's one plug in the bathroom, but that's it.

the rooms are not cleaned

they did not have the English language channel of CNN International News.

The value is absolutely tremendous. I stayed there the end of December and beginning of January and I had plenty of heat in the room. I used a LOT of hot water in the shower, and I really appreciated it.

Perfect location to go to anywhere in the City. Helpful staff. Really a hotel that is value for money..

Walls between rooms are a little thin, you may hear what are they doing on the other side.

Very good location. Easy to reach everywhere, parks,market,metro station etc. Good staff, especially miss Aigerim who helped me, whenever I need anyting.

It is a good option in terms of price because other hotels in the city are very expensive. Do not expect too much but a bed where you would spend the night. The location is good since it is close to the train station, the main Mosque and a huge market.

That the shower is not in the room. It is like staying in a hostel. The room is not serviced everyday and of course the rooms need renovation but again for the price you pay, you can not ask for too much.

Value for money. We only paid 15 euros for a single room per night.we stayed 3 nights. In my opinion it is really only a hostel or one step up. Location was a little seedy but we never felt uncomfortable. If your budget is tight then this is the place for you. You will not find cheaper in Almaty. If your budget will stretch to it the get a twin room for single occupancy as it has air conditioning and rooms are a lot bigger.

this place good area in city center and night time silent, i like it.

It is very close to the main attract ions in almaty, fair english spoken (download a translator app) quite secure however we always locked luggage. They ignored the dnd sign we had on the s second day to change toilet paper. Good price, females dont go out after 7pm not the best neighbourhood after dark however astana is quite the opposite. Loads of food places and market close by :)

There was no hot water for a week or so. But it was 30+ degrees so easy to deal with, aircon didnt work in one room.

loved the balcony looking over the market and the view of the mountains. comfortable beds, clean and good shower too!
