The atmosphere is fantastic. The style and old fashioned rooms are so nice. The sofas on first floor and the chairs outside are so bad to sit down in. They should have been destroyed long time ago. That is not worthy of a hotel like that. Change them quickly to some reasonable chairs.

Big room, good bed, international tv channels, quick check in We booked especially this place bc of the fitness center, sauna and massage facilities which we wanted after 2days long distance self driving by car from Thailand. We arrived around 3pm and were really looking forward to hit the gym and sauna and massage we went downstairs dressed for the gym and asked for the fitness center location and got some open mouth reaction from the receptionists, a few minutes later we realized why they couldn't believe that someone wants to use the gym, entering the gym hall now it was us with open mouth, a huge scrapyard with broken and torn down machines, rusty, partly disassembled and scrap parts scattered all over the very dirty place, never seen anything like that in 30years travelling, so we went ahead for the sauna and massage, checked in at the counter and paid 8$ each in cash, the sauna and showers area, you not wanna know, smelly and funghus everywhere, no oven working, now we tried the massage and got into little massage rooms with ac, it looked ok but the the massage girl came in, dressed like the bar girls in th but she insisted to be specialized in vietnamese massage and started padding me like you pad a dogs head and after 5 minutes we gave it up, these girls are surely there for 'special treats' so went back to the check in lady but she was gone and nowhere to be found, so we went to see the hotel manager to get our money back, hahaha, there was no manager on duty bc out of country for a week and the receptionists told that the fitness center had nothing to do with the hotel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Grandiose building with large rooms. Good location. Has seen better days. Best described as "faded glory". Staff speak very little English or French making communication difficult. Did not know very much about Pakse. If we were not early for breakfast things tended to run out. At check out there was a 3.5% surcharge for using credit card, including Visa. This was not mentioned anywhere. They tried to charge us for a broken hotel umbrella which was actually broken by housekeeping. However, the main problem arose after returning home to find that we had been double charged. This took months to clear up because the hotel would not respond to our bank's requests for the transaction slips (which of course did not exist). We would definitely not stay there again.

Great old building overlooking the river, lots of character as it was originally intended as a royal palace. The staff also kindly held on to my glasses that I left in the room for 3 days until I could return. Was all a bit dated, needs a bit of a spruce up but you wouldn't want to loose the original character of the building.
