Vientiane is starting out on its journey to become a popular tourist area - facilities are improving and what is there now works well. Modern hotels are in process of being built and transport infrastructure is developing - the China/Laos hi
gh-speed railway is certainly opening up this country.
Currently, mass tourism has not yet arrived (unlike many other places, where you seem to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with half the world's population).
If you want to go, go soon (but not in the wet season - wet is really wet!) - we can see that in a few year's time this lovely country could be overwhelmed with the evils of mass tourism, with hundreds of coaches queuing daily to get to the ancient cultural sites!

Title: Vientiane: A City of Charm and Culinary Delights
Title: Vientiane: A City of Charm and Culinary Delights
Review:
Vientiane, the heart of Laos, is a city that radiates charm and hospitality. During my visit, I was constantly struck by the friendliness of the locals, who added warmth to every encounter. The city's culinary scene was a delightful surprise; each meal, whether at a humble street stall or a cozy restaurant, was a delicious exploration of Laotian flavors. While Vientiane may not top the list for a single-visit itinerary in Laos, it's undeniably worth spending a few days in. The city offers a unique blend of tranquility and cultural richness, making it a pleasant and memorable part of any Laotian adventure.

Kinda sleepy, and not as many Day Tours and things to do as Luang Prabang or other nearby Asian cities. The only tour I did was because I saw a sign on a tree offering a three-site half day thing for just $10USD. His name is Tungchai and I recommend his tour ... Find him here ... https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100067140248570 ... After that, I decided on a flash one-night visit to Vang Vieng / Nam Ngum Lake. The bullet train is FANTASTIC and that area up there is beautiful!

I booked this Hotel for married friends who came for 3 nights. The room was excellent as was the price. I gave an outstanding review. Yesterday I sent another friend there as it was so good. At check in they tried to put him in a small, smelly room where nothing (TV, safe etc) were working. He was forced to go to Reception and tell them it wasn't good enough. He was then put into the room he booked. This is very disappointing and has me doubting my original review. It's a shame that things like this happen in this country regularly. If you get the room you booked, this Hotel is excellent. Best of Luck.

Beautiful city, capital of Laos.
Beautiful city, capital of Laos. The city is spread out but still very walkable or by tuk tuk with many things to see and eat. The night market is nearby the river with some sort of kiddie amusement park. There seems to be a mix of old and modern entertainment to explore but I didn't do much (busy working). Lots of food stalls, dining options. Haven't had one bad meal but some are better than others for sure. The night food market near D Mart is superb for food finds.
The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are really spacious and gorgeous. The bed was the MOST comfortable we have had during our month in Laos (hard beds are the norm, this one was soft and dreamy, we could have stayed in all day). The staff at reception were friendly and helpful. The room service food was OK (not amazing but fine) and the breakfast was good - you can order any style eggs and the staff were delightful. Much better value than other places in Vientiane and a short walk or Loca ride from the centre of town.
This is our third visit to the Laos Poet Hotel and it will not be our last. The rooms are serene and spacious with enormous bathrooms . The food is very good and reasonably priced. The staff are outstanding-nothing is too much trouble and they are particularly adept at securing train tickets at busy times of the year.
I think this is a wonderful boutique hotel and highly recommend it .
Beautiful hotel! Room was super clean, spacious and comfortable. Location is perfect for exploring Vientiane. Staff was great, especially the breakfast staff! They were super friendly and helpful with accommodating for allergies. Breakfast was delicious with lots of different options. Housekeepers did a great job with cleaning the room. We had a lovely stay and would love to come back!
Hotel located in the heart of Vientiane, easy walk around city.
Staff are friendly and helpful. They arranged an pick up service for me. Introduce some of good place to go.
Breakfast was great, their are many choice. We love coffee machine, there are americano coffee in the morning.
Room clean and comfortable. Lovely view to night market and mekong river.
Nice staff. Breakfast was included and ok as it was included with booking.com. Drink prices were very good for a hotel. The pool area is very pleasant and the location is great for walkabouts. There are not a great many things to do in Vientiane and, given that I was staying 5 nights, I was pleased to have chosen this hotel.
Really good place for its price, a lot of friendly people inside (both guests and the staff team)
Almost in the city center, can go to the nearest supermarket in 15 minutes by feet
Maybe you won't find everything you expect from a hotel or a tourist place around, but I've found almost everything
In conclusion, my stay at Hotel was a truly magical experience. I cannot commend the staff and management enough. Good location in the city center. If you're looking for a place that combines comfort, and exceptional service, Hotel is the perfect choice. I can't wait for my next visit!
Well trained, really helpful staff. They booked our overnight train trip to Bangkok and WhatsApp the tickets to us when they were issued a few days later, just as promised. Accommodation in Laos can be a bit basic and uncomfortable, so the Ibis was a welcome break - highly recommended.
Thé lady at front counter (day shift) is willing to help about taxi transfers to border gate Laos-Thai , breakfast is acceptable. Location is closed to night market but its pretty far from Wat Tat Laung and Pratui Sai.
Mixed feelings on this hotel. At first glance - super. Staff friendly, good check in , lots of facilities but not quite the usual 5 star standards. However for Vientiane I think probably one of the best in the city.
Breakfast was good, as well as the room was spacious and comfortable. The location is perfect for people going to the embassy. I enjoyed it and if I ever have to go back to Laos I will stay here again.
Location was very good - close to many restaurants, night market and ATM. The hotel is just far enough from the road to be quiet for sleeping. Coffee available in lobby all day/night.
The hotel is not so big, looks private, Location not city center , traffic is good, surround by many restaurants that can walk, staffs was friendly, breakfast is good.
