Amazing view

The hotel was built around the same time as the Beiteddine palace a few minutes down the road. The view over the Chouf mountains is exquisite, perfect for breakfast. Swimming pool also shares the same view. Go for an executive room over standard as it is closer to the main part of the hotel and quite a bit better. I stayed at the start of October and was the only person in the hotel.

Mir Amin is a former palace and a beautful building in a lovely setting in the hills of the Chouf, overlooking the palace of Beit Eddine. The staff are, as you would expect, extremely attentive, efficient and friendly, without being obtrusive. It is a great place in which to relax and to use as a base for touring a beautiful area.

Our room, while perfectly adequate, was slightly marred by small faults which one would not expect to find in a hotel of this standard: none of the plugs in the bathroom worked properly and our room had only an interconnecting door between it and the next room, which meant that we were awoken by a baby crying. A bigger issue was the fact that the hotel is heavily-used for wedding receptions, of which there were two during our stay. There are comparitively few guest rooms in the Mir Amin's extensive site and wedding receptions are obviously an important source of income. This had the result that without prior warning we were denied access to major public areas of the hotel, our choice of food was restricted to one restaurant and our sleep was disturbed.

Es ist ein schöner Ort mit netten Menschen, die hilfsbereit und freundlich zu den Gästen sind. Uns wurden alle Wünsch erfüllt. Als Gast geniesst man eine hohe Aufenthaltsqualität mit geschichtlichem Ambiente.

Unser Zimmer war nachts etwas geräuschvoll von der Lüftung der Küche, die sich in der Nähe befand.

Le cadre et le calme

Son charme et le fait d'habiter dans une vieille demeure. Son restaurant est aussi très bon.

Je trouve que le rapport qualité prix n'est pas au rdv. On est allés en avril et on avait froid dans la chambre + la salle de bain n'était pas à la hauteur du prix payé.

Unsere ganz normalen Zimmer waren fantastisch groß (1 ca. 35qm, das andere ca. 30qm), der Bereich um den Pool großzügig mit Liegen, Schirmen und Handtücher ausgestattet. Das Personal stets freundlich und hilfsbereit, das arabisch/kontinentale Frühstück war sehr reichhaltig mit sehr großer Auswahl an verschiedenen Speisen. Am 1. Tag wurde es am Tisch serviert, bei stärkerer Belegung des Hotels in Buffetform. Mahlzeiten können auch auf der Terasse eingenommen werden, von der aus man einen schönen Blick auf den Palast in Beit Eddine hat. Rundum zu empfehlen, aber etwas einsam gelegen. Auto ist erforderlich.

Location great, food mostly ok, serviceable (Lebanese standards) and free wifi in all the hotel

The place is clean but basically run down. I am not even sure that it conforms to hotel standards of the 60s. For example, room doors don't lock unless you lock yourself from the inside with the key (a physical key). The carpets are old, there is trace of humidity on bathroom walls, drawings on the wall are worse than ridiculous (village girls and women posing in traditional attire), the mini bar's compressor restarts noisily every now and then. Also, my room was on the roof with the real risk that anything crawling entered it if I had left the windows open. In addition, as a State-owned hotel, the best one can say about service is about individuals and their initiatives (if you tolerate the odd Lebanese servility posing as thoughtfulness). For example, when you check out, the check out clerk takes his phone and asks room service to verify the bar as a question won't do to clear such important matters. $180 for a night including breakfast (and dinner after I complained because the Booking.com deal didn't offer it while people who had booked direct had gotten it) is relatively inexpensive for such a nice location but a bit steep for a 2.5 star hotel for its amenities. Also: - The restaurant pianist doing his best to play softly and with very basic abilities very old songs on an upright piano in a place without any sound-dampening upholstery was nevertheless a very unfortunate experience. I still recommend the place because there is no other in the area, as far as I know. - Even though I had selected one large bed on Booking.com, I got two beds. - Booking.com did not actually debit my card. This was done at checkout time.
