I was not very impressed with Reduit beach. I could not understand why it was considered so beautiful or even long. It is longer than others on the island but not by far long by US standards, or some European and Mexican beaches.
The anexes of the hotel are dated and ugly (for instance right on the beach, between the two Rex hotels some ugly low service buildings). Although a nice room, we considered the price extremely high. However, it was a lot better value for money than what we got at the Hummingbird in Soufriere, where the rooms were more like a 3rd class motel.
Our room was beautiful and large but there were minor problems: the small refrigerator smelled bad (might be because it is inclosed in a cabinet with no ventilation behind it so it heats up); the door to the outside cannot be locked from the outside so although you could walk out straight to the garden and beach, you have to go out through the back and around. Because the window is the sliding door to the patio in the garden, you cannot sleep with the windows open on a beautiful warm night.
We liked the proximity to the sea. There are very few hotels right on the Reduit beach and this seems to have the best beach. Some reviewers prefer the beach at the northern end but I did not like it being so close to a long wall that juts out into the sea, cutting your view. I thought the best stretch of the beach is the middle section belonging to the hotel. It has lounges and shading elements which are reserved for the hotel guests. The cruise crowds are restricted to the two extremities of the hotel beach so they did not bother us.
If I went back to Reduit beach this is certainly the hotel I would choose. However, I would not want to go back there at all as there are better beaches and beach towns elsewhere.
The hotel has a great chef so the food is good. The room itself (actually more of a suite) was big, comfortable and very modern but the surroundings of the hotel, the corridors were very dated. We did not interact much with the staff but we did like the fact that we met some people from the management and the chef at a little cocktail party organized by the manager outside. That was a nice touch. The garden in the center is very well kept.
