La Haut Resort  

Stunning views, friendly, low-key and very comfortable. Lots of character, a real change from the big anonymous resorts that could really be anywhere. Dinner was absolutely delicious (we only stayed one night) and the bed was super comfortable. Within easy reach of snorkelling, sulphur springs and Soufriere.

Nothing to dislike

The rustic nature of the resort. Stunning views, good staff and good food.

Helpful, friendly staff. Lovely room with an excellent view of the Pitons, equipped with kettle, fridge and toaster. A can of bug spray was also provided in the room, although the mosquitos weren't too prevalent at the time of our stay. Breakfast was buffet style and tasty... Poached and scrambled eggs (to order) were good. Dinner in restaurant was also very nice. Location of La Haut was perfect, with lots of things to see and do nearby, would definitely stay there again.

American couple next door were a bit noisy (but not too much of a bother)

Rooms are expensive, but I suppose it remains one of the best values for money in Soufriere

The view

Staff poorly trained. Always very polite and willing but lacking it training. Lack of air conditioning in room we had booked. When we asked if we could change rooms to a cheaper (And smaller room) with a/c we were at first told we would have to pay a cancellation fee and that there was no promise that we could have the cheaper room at the cheaper rate.

The Resort was wonderful and the amazing view of the Piton Mountains from your room/balcony was breathtaking. Definitely a place I would recommend and return too! A "hidden gem" in the southern part of the Island.

Staff were extremely friendly. Food was excellent. View was awesome.

The style of building, our room N° 3, the environment

It was so beautiful. The view was amazing from our room. The staff were so friendly and helpful. I loved chatting with them and asking questions about St. Lucia. This is a very nice place without there being a ton of people. It is secluded and quiet but not far from Soufriere. The pools are clean and beautiful and the food is delicious. They are so accomodating, on the first night they found out I was a vegetarian, then when we went back to the restaurant the next day, they had a separate vegetarian menu with about 5 or 6 options. I thought that they went above and beyond in doing that and everything we ate their was great!

We booked the cottage online but was not able to stay in it because the bathroom was having work done on it. They moved us to a room of the same price and with the same great view though. I do not know if they knew ahead of time that the cottage would not be available or if it was something last minute that needed to be fixed.

Beautiful rooms, accurate photos on website. Friendly and helpful staff. Great food. View was simply amazing of the Pitons, sea, mountains and sulphur springs in distance. Not commercialised area, the real St Lucia. Small holding attached with lots of roaming animals.

Nothing to dislike.

The views from La Haut are spectacular! The location is ideal for visiting all of the attractions of Soufriere, and the staff are extremely welcoming and helpful, and will try to arrange whatever you ask for. The bed was huge and comfortable.

There is no air conditioning in our room and the fans that are provided aren't really adequate. There was a large gap under the patio door in our room so we ended up with lots of beetles and things coming in during the night. The taxis that La Haut arrange for you seem to be at a premium price, so it is expensive to get around. Hiring a car might work out to be a cheaper option. They play the radio in the restaurant most of the time, which in the morning is usually a sermon and morning worship. Not necessarily to everybody's taste! The infinity pool was out of action when we were there. It has incredible views so will be great once they have finished the work on it.

La vue superbe sur la Soufrière et la mer des chambres, de la terrasse du restaurant ou de la piscine infinity. Chambre très agréable et propre avec des fruits frais à disposition tous les matins.

La situation excentrée de l'hotel necessite une voiture pour descendre à la ville, aller à la plage ou changer de restaurant. Sinon une navette gratuite existe depuis l'hotel mais horaires peu souples ( départ 10h00 retour 16h00) Peu de renseignements sur les excursions aux alentours par le personnel de réception. Impossibilité de changer les dates de séjour sans pénalités même en prévenant dès l'arrivée.

We visited in January. The location was good with views of the Pitons and Soufriere. The breezes from the Caribbean helped to keep temperatures down because there was no aircon. There was a shuttle service to Soufriere twice a day and once to a local beach. The breakfasts were good, try the omelettes.

On arrival the accommodation was not as we booked. We asked for twin beds and we got one double with a bathroom. The other bed was like a child' s bed, which was down a broken spiral staircase made up in the lounge/kitchen; neither bed had mosquito nets and the doors and widows did not close properly. Despite using spray we were eaten alive. The kitchenette was infested with ants. We complained and they agreed to upgrade us. However, it took them four days to do so. If you wanted to visit areas outside of the local town the taxis were expensive. We hired a jeep for a couple of days. The restaurant served mediocre food and they had a captive market. We self-catered for four nights with salads.

Die Aussicht auf die Pitons und Soufriere ist unschlagbar, besonders vom Infinity Pool aus! Der Pool ist etwas vom Hauptgebäude entfernt beim Haus des Besitzers, man kann ihn aber jederzeit nutzen. La Haute ist eine Plantage, Früchte und Gemüse, dass im Restaurant verwendet wird stammt teilweise aus eigenem Anbau. Die Mitarbeiter sind sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend.
