Being above a shopping mall may give some people a sense of insecurity, but the hotel staff are present during the day, a security guard during the evening and all the doors in or out of the whole building are firmly locked at night. When we left at 5.00 am to catch an early flight in a taxi booked for us by the hotel reception, we could not get out of the hotel because the security guard had gone missing, leaving everybody locked inside. We eventually left via the fire escape involving a hazardous descent of a pitch dark staircase, removal of wooden beams and lumps of concrete blocking the door and setting off the fire alarm. Heh Ho - all part of the adventure of independent travelling.
