We stayed over one night on our way to Kandy. Had a lovely welcome and was put in decent rooms for the price. The food was fantastic and the garden with playground for the kiddos was wonderful.

this hotel is good for use only as A transit point. room is very small. no space to move. bath room very very poor condition.. very unsafe to use bath tab and no chance for elderly people to use it. .

Old World Charm. Loved the idea of experiencing accommodation that reflects history. Good location for a short stay if travelling to Yala national Park. Great way to see some of the inland parts of Sri Lanka. Quiet location despite position. Good breakfast.

Really old fashioned colonial hotel near Ella. We used it as a stop over from mountains to beach. Very quiet in early season. Food was very good and nice bottle of wine. Wifi and G&Ts available. Cold towels and sweet tea on arrival were nice touch. Beds looked like old hospital beds. Great old reading material from early 70s in Plantation News Bulletin...which helped you get the feel for a bygone day. Definitely unique. Very very quiet. Rooms fine but not exactly luxurious. If you are there, then fine place to stay but probably wouldn't travel there specially.

I liked its old colonial charm and its personable approach to guests. This hotel will not suit everyone. The plumbing and electrics were circa 1950s but it was clean and comfortable and the food was delicious. It describes itself as the hotel that time has not changed and this is true. The constitution of Ceylon (as it then was) was formulated and written here. The ghosts of tea planters, foreign office officials and the old guard seem to pervade it still. Staid and tranquil, it is the perfect peaceful hideaway. Perfect for old buffers like me.

das Hotel ist einzigartig und hat den typischen "old world charme". Es hat sich wohl seit der britischen Kolonialzeit nichts geändert. Das Essen war sehr gut, die Zimmer originell (v.a. die Badewanne auf Füßchen) und das Personal sehr aufmerksam.

Man fühlt sich wie auf einer Zeitreise. Das Hotel ist herrlich altmodisch. Bitte keinen Luxus erwarten, uns hat es sehr gefallen, mal was anderes! Das Buffet war mittelmaß.

Das Hotel ist eine Zeitreise ins 20. oder gar 19. Jahrhundert. Hat einen gewissen Reiz und Charme. Preislich etwas zu hoch für den Reiz der "Zeitreise", da der Komfort doch beschränkt ist. Der Ort Bandarawela selbst bietet keine Attraktionen oder auch nur Restaurants. Nur als Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge in die Berge interessant, wenn man im ca. 10 km entfernten Ella nicht mehr unterkommt.
