Weligama, with its enchanting coastal charm, offers an array of memorable spots that can become instant favorites for any visitor. Among these, the picturesque Weligama Bay stands out, renowned for its gentle surf and panoramic views, making it an idyllic spot for both surfers and those looking to soak in the serene beach atmosphere. Another favorite is the iconic Taprobane Island, accessible at low tide, offering a unique glimpse into a secluded and luxurious retreat with its lush tropical gardens and historical mansion.
Dining in Weligama is a delightful experience, with a plethora of options ranging from local street food stalls serving delectable seafood and traditional Sri Lankan fare, to more upscale dining experiences by the beach, where you can enjoy fresh, grilled seafood while watching the sunset. The Roti Shop, a quaint local eatery, is particularly notable for its mouthwatering selection of rotis filled with an array of flavors, providing a taste of local cuisine that's both authentic and affordable.

Relaxing beach for surfing, beach walks, beach games & family time together.
Safe beach area & you get lots of nice cafes and restaurants to try out with a good range of food & drinks with music to enjoy. We really enjoyed Ceylon Sliders as our brunch spot & Cheeky monkey for dinner with some super cool music. Kurumba bay is super cool too for a range of food choices.

You go to Weligama to learn surfing, or otherwise use the beach.
Otherwise the place is maybe a bit too chaotic, dirty, and loud for European travellers ;)
There is garbage collection, but still a lot of garbage is lying around and ending up in the sea.

Weligama is small town.
Weligama is small town. We lived little outskirts in rural area, Weligama is cheaper than other distinations such as Mirissa nearby. However if one needs to party and need restaurants then you cannot find many at Weligama.
We were looking for quiet, relaxed and comparitively cheaper 15 days break between our two months vacation and Weligama helped us with same. Mirissa beach is more better and lively than Weligama Beach. However small section of beach near Cape Weligama resort via Kumbalgama junction is quiet and peaceful.
Having your own or rented vehicle is definitely plus point or else one has to hire Tuktuk to Mirissa which may cost 1000-1400 LKR To and Fro dependinging on your bargaining skills.
Once can definitely go to both mirissa, unwatuna and galle from Weligama on day excursions.

Weligama beach itself is very crowded and not very clean; however, there are amazing and practically empty beaches just a few minutes away. Options for restaurants like almost everywhere is a hit and miss, but I did find amazing and varied options for very good prices.
Right on the quiet side of Weligama beach! The view was wonderful, the beach was quiet and serene. The manager of the hotel was very helpful, when I told him I had some business meetings he brought me a wifi extender for my room so I had perfect connectivity. The massage I got on the first night was heavenly! Maybe because I could hear the waves from the open air massage room. Whatever it was, I loved it! My room was quite large, very clean, great view from the balcony.
The room and balcony were huge and clean. Plenty of storage for your stuff, which seems to be rare in Sri Lanka. beautiful view of the water, especially at sunrise. Its a bit further from the main area of Weligama, which is nice if you want a quiet place that’s still not too far from the action (5 min walk).
There are some really nice yoga places and cute cafe nearby.
The AC and wifi worked great, also this is difficult to find. The staff is really kind.
The staff of this hotel did more than expected to make me feel at home and to fulfil all my wishes. Even specific things like a unique device for my laptop and many more:) Showing me all the coolest places in the area and even taking me there personally at no charge! The era is a few minutes "tuk-tuk" drive to the nicest beaches like Weligama & Plantation. As well as the centre of seafood restaurants at the beach. Great value per money. Highly recommended!
Excellent hospitality from "sam". As we were an extended family the team kept up with all the requests that came through.. Upstairs only all the rooms are available.. From the guests house will take maximum one minute to the Weligama main surfing beach.. it's only i think 50 meter walking distance. And Food city is also one minute walking distance on the right side on the road. The breakfast is traditional sri lankan amazing foods. Superb atmosphere 🙏❤️
Rise was a great guest house, it was clean and spacious, the staff and manager were super helpful with everything we needed. The location is perfect for the beach and places to eat. The Italian restaurant was delicious and the recommendations that Kate sent were perfect to help us see the best spots in Weligama and the surrounding areas. Rise was the best place we stayed in Sri Lanka and we would recommend it to everyone!
The size of the hotel is good and the view from the balcony is scenic. Rooms are maintained and clean.
There is a small restaurant area offering a selection of food and drinks.
Lounge area on the top floor very pleasant.
Staff was amazing and helpful whenever needed (always giving some recommendations)
Quiet area and not far from Weligama bay.
Tuk-Tuk to Weligama bay : 500 lkr
Tuk-Tuk to Mirissa : 1000 lkr.
the location was really great, the best restaurants near the hotel. the staff helped with our heavy suitcases. they gives us better room, then we booked, because it was available. akalanka made a huge help for us, also he helped to find a home for long stay. really appreciate it! pool on the territory very good! the best place ever for this money! thanks guys!
We stayed at this hotel for 10 days. I liked everything very much. The rooms are spacious. Local breakfast included. The owner of the hotel talks about local dishes and culture, very interesting. While we were staying at the hotel, we seemed to be in a local, Sri Lankan family. Where love and care reign. We really enjoyed!
The location is great - just in front of Weiligama surfing point. The room is very nice — king bed, conditioner, hot water. it’s also has a wide space in bathroom. The staff was very friendly and helpful, especially Weere, manager of this hotel. For breakfast you can choose from 4 options, and pineapple pancakes are delicious!
Without doubt one of the favorite hotels I stayed during my time in Sri Lanka! Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by the staff, I truly enjoyed walking the three of us through the villa. special thing is atmosphere is so special that it really felt like home to me. excellent hospitality! highly recommend this VILLA
The hotel is located at the end of Weligama Beach in the face of a mosque which is quite easy to find. Not far from the downtown. Nice sea view from the balcony and the double-glazed glass prevented the noise of the road. The staff provided some helpful suggestions of surfing for us.
Location that was the main thing bcz the sea view so the hotel was in great location and the room was very comfortable and the staff they always ready to help so best hotel in weligama so I got a great experience thank you Centhara
Clean and confortable room. They offer a good breakfast (with different options - toasts, sri lankan style, oats) that you have to choose from in the previous day.
Friendly staff. Its really near weligama beach.
Nicest owner we have met during our time in Sri Lanka! Breakfast was super delicious and it was nice that we could buy beer at the hotel. Would definitely reccomend while staying in Midigama.
Best hosts in Sri Lanka! An amazing breakfast, they even did our laundry and really treated us like family. The house is very beautiful as well and did we mention the INCREDIBLE breakfast?!
Well located hotel just outside Weligama surrounded by beautiful nature. Good food, helpful staff and newly built facilities. Will definitely plan a visit next time I'm in Sri Lanka.
