    Position was good..pool and the beach was quite nice..an the staff was nice as well

    Room was horrible..dirty..smell really bad..bed sheets had blood stain and hair..even the bath room wasn't clean..management should be more attentive..

    We love locations, Food ! Staff nice., But need lot of training

    We call room service and not able to reach and not extra such as combs or toothbrushes.. Hair dryer not working and Air con freezing too cold and not able to control..

    Mostly friendly staff, pool was nice and food was good

    While checking out I queried an item on the list and I had 6 members of staff standing watching. Then when they moved away they continued to stand staring and taking in their own language. Felt very intimidated.

    nice place since it is situated near beach and swimming pool is good

    Poor maintenance of room and staff are not cordial and had a bad experience during check out. No one is there to help for vacating .

    We were really surprised with friendly staff that makes you feel home. service, food, cleanliness are excellent. Excellent value for the money. Location is really nice, to go around the village in a car or a boat in the river. Very relaxing and enjoyable.

    - Great location in Bentota being located in between the river where lots of water sports activities take place and the beautiful and quiet Beach - Excellent breakfast buffet offering something for all tastes - Many activities available e.g. tennis, squash, dart, gym and lot of water sports (note we booked our water sports activities through a vendor on the other side of river as we saved 20-30% on the price)

    - The rooms are very run down and are in desperate need of a renovatio - Cleanliness could be improved. Our fridge (mini bar) was filthy - Although having a large number of staff, we got the slowest and worst service (except in the restaurants) at Bentota Beach Hotel compared to the other 5 places we stayed in Sri Lanka - Does not live up to the expectations of a four star hotel and is not value for Money - Wifi was very instable

    In short: no Service, not clean, fraudential billing I am a German living in the UAE. I stayed with my wife and 2 Kids mid April 2014 for 4 days. Service: whenever I ordered coffee at breakfast or Drinks in the evening I ended up getting it by myself. Cleanness: Our room was made up daily. All obvious things like bed sheet were ok. Bathroom was never cleaned well - the dirt in the Corners and in the shower was months old. When we left I looked under the bed to see if my Kids left toys anywhere. It was disgusting. Both issues however were not a real Problem to us. And I would not have written a Review here if the billing would not have been deliberately fraudential: Fraudential billing practise: I booked online at USD 500 for 4 nights excl. 12% VAT, 3% City tax and 13% Service Charge (total USD652). At checkout the Hotel presented a bill of USD 800 for accomodation with my booking (USD 500 plus charges) attached!! They were relying on the fact that People are losing the sense for numbers by adding 3 different percentages to an amount. I would even have paid it but I complained I would not pay 13% Service Charge as Service was not existing to me. After a discussion between the check out staff and his Manager I was told to only pay the extras. The Hotel would settle the accomodation issue and Service Charge issue with booking.com. I was surprised and told them I would like to settle the 500 plus taxes leaving only the Service Charge for discussion. They refused. So I gave my credit Card to settle the extras. The Clerk swiped it at a machine that was at another desk so I could not see how often he swiped it. He presented me the receipt for the extras which I signed. Getting back home I got SMS from the cc Company showing that the Hotel swiped twice - my extras plus USD 652. This second debit was the room rate (the original amount as booked) incl. Service Charge. I never saw this receipt nor did I sign it. I have asked my cc co.

    rooms not up to standard, bathrooms not clean, poor service, pool bar closes at 6 pm, pool restaurant the food is not good, pool is not clean and the water hot like a Jacuzzi, pool attendants not attentive at all,

    Love the location, the resort was great! Lots of stuff to do and location to beach and river second to none. The staff were really good.

    The sports facilities and pool were OK. Roshan was a good waiter in the restaurant.

    We stayed here because our original booking at Centara was cancelled due to late opening. Shocking hotel. Dirty bedrooms with fag burns and blood stains on the sheets. Hadn't been cleaned properly since the last guests as there was still old medication left in the mini bar and wrappers in the cupboards. The towels are thread bare and the sun loungers coming apart at the seams. The room was over run with bugs and we had to dash into the room to prevent the four geckos that lived above the door getting in each time. The pool bar and food option closed half an hour earlier than advertised and when queried the staff were just rude. We ended up checking out a day early as our experience had been so bad. We explained to the staff why we were leaving early....they offered no apology just told us we would still have to pay as Booking.com take the money not them. Awful all round.

    The sporting facilities were good and Roshan the waiter was good.

    Awful experience. We ended up here as Centaura hotel delayed their opening and so our booking there was cancelled. The room was grotty, fag burns and blood stains on the sheets, over run with Mosquitos and insects. Empty wrappers in the cupboards and old medication in the mini bar left by the last guests. The bathroom was mouldy on the ceiling and there was poo on the outside of the toilet. The pool bar and restaurant closed earlier than advertised and when queried why the staff were rude. Staff overall were rude and couldn't care less. When we told them we were going to check out a day earlier than planned and explained why no apology was made. We were just told that we would still have to pay as Booking.com had taken the money. I would not recommend or book this hotel again ever. Shocking.

    The staff is very friendly, the beach was very good, the pool was ok, the rooms were ok

    The pool is all to deep, not good for small children. I would strongly recomend the hotel to have food for children, kids meal or kids menu

    beaches and entire resort set up. amazing staff. Archery area and lots of fun activities to do.. Food was amazing and the set up of the bar inside and around pool area was excellent. Excellent value for money

    Dinner price changes everyday. Buffet!!! and tax for every single air you breathe. instead they should charge taxes towards the final settlement of the bill. Acarte menu is always delayed a bit.

    Last fees days of our trip. Buffet was really good. Do not accept the rooms with the lagoon view. Smell of damp and are really old! We complained and got a better room. Make use of the a la carte restaurant, amazing food in there!

    First room was awful.
