- nice beach - very good food at the buffet - helpful restaurant crew
- rooms are very tiny, but ok - Hotel is quite of age - As backpackers we booked online for 2 days and the room with breakfast was extremely expensive compared to what you get. - standard hotel, could be anywhere in the world in this style. Nothing really remarkable
it is not as good as three years ago, the beach is dirty. anyhow, the dinner and breakfast is very good. The arrangement to snorkelling is very good! value of money, cheap than other shops.
we booked on booking and paid the money, but when we arrived the hotel after 07 hours from colombo to Trinco Male, the hotel tell us there is no room for us!!!!!! what's the ridicularous thing?! so we are arranged to anoother hotel nearby.
Ocean view and beach are wonderful. Swimming pool lobby area were nice.
Over priced for this resort after hidden fees and taxes are added. Wifi is very slow and ineffective. Rooms are decent size but cleanliness was poor. Found human blood and mud in our room! Restaurant food is fair but not same quality as other hotel we stayed at in Sri Lanka.
Location was excellent and beaches were kept cleaned. The staff very curteous, friendly and helpful. The food both the buffet and room service were excellent had variety to choose from. The food, native or foreign were all prepared well. I also liked having the SCUBA, Snorkling and fishing excursion in the hoetl. My son and I did the SCUBA diving and it was PERFECT!!. I wish we had more time to go snorkling and fishing. We definitely like to stay in this hotel again.
Ants in the room as well as it was not cleaned well. The waste cans were not emptied from prior tenants when we got there. The Wi-Fi was slow and did not have bandwidth.
Too expensive for the services offered, but overall a charming and comfortable hotel with rich war history.
very good hotel and nice hotel people
Location on the beach is amazing and Crab Cafe does great food!!!
Very good hotel, nice location, tasty food and perfect evening live perfoemances
during my stay there, sum of money was stolen from my wallet, when I left it in room and went swimming, this is the only negative moment about our stay there
I arrived by overnight train at 5 am so was very happy that they let me check-in at 8 am. After the train ride I felt like I'd landed in Paradise. I liked my room -- it was extremely good value for the price I paid. The buffet meals were reasonably priced and the selection and the food (especially Sri Lankan) was excellent. The staff were terrific and the beach and pool were very nice.
Best Jaffna crab ever at the crab hut
location food staff at all levels were very courteous and helpful overall cleanliness was good
plumbing and drainage ought to be given quite a bit of attention. The washrooms in the beach chalets that we occupied had bad odour despite the exhaust fans which were kept on all the time that we were in the chalets. The chalet that was booked as a suite for three was not suitable to house three persons. Just moving in an additional bed does not make a chalet for two a suite for three.
The location of the hotel is great with an amazing beachfront.
We booked this hotel for 2 nights towards the end of our 2 weeks in Sri Lanka expecting it to be a relaxing couple of days where we could unwind after attending hectic wedding celebrations and tourist attractions all over the country. We couldn't have been more disappointed. The hotel is old, worn out and mediocre at best. The rooms are extremely basic and below average and not very clean at all. This was the most expensive of all the hotels we stayed during our 2 weeks in Sri Lanka and by far the worst value for money. The restaurants are expensive in comparison to others and the food is not very nice. We tried the Captain's Deck buffet restaurant on the first night and were very disappointed then chose The Crab for lunch and dinner the next day. Prawns for lunch which were awful however the chicken we ordered for dinner was alright. Could not bring myself to order a crab despite their claimed speciality after the horrible prawn dish we had for lunch. Overall we were so dissappointed with our stay at Chaaya Blu. I would definately not recommend it to anyone expecting to relax and enjoy a beach resort holiday. The hotel does not live up to expectations and the only plus side is the awesome beach it sits on.
The food was simply fabulous. Hats off to the Chief Chef! The staffs were very friendly The beach was spectacular Would love to go back just for these three!
The rooms were not really worth it. They can improve their standard.
Swimming pool, restaurant and overall presentation of the hotel were great! We liked the atmosphere!
The bathroom wasn't clean at all and this is really a consequence of cleaning superficially for years. I took shower with my flipflops on because I was really disgusted by all the dirty corners in the shower...
The Food, the Pool and the staff
Location on the beach, swimming pool, garden, beach bar/restaurant very scenic, excellent for a few days relaxation.
Some problems with A/C, Insulation and room confort can be improved.
Stunning location we will come again!
Beach location; proximity to interesting Trincomalee; boating provided by Varadan; friendly & efficient welcome; nice bathroom; balcony with garden access
Terrible loud piped music, especially at breakfast; rather poor facilities apart from the pool; at almost $200 B&B not good value for money in relation to comparable and much better places
Everything was perfect. Only one suggestion to manager of restorant: if you want to keep animals away from restorant you should feed them out side teritory of hotel so that they are not hungry and do not bother guests! I love animals but it look not nice when waiter have to watch out for animals.
Everything was nice & wonderfull...
we not looked for ---.
staff, style, food, poolM beach, location.
It was clean but more attention could be given in the bathroom and floors should be moped daily,
The beach in the hotel is beautiful
There are only 4 boats in the hotel,so can serve only 28 guests per day for the dolphin tour,so if someone want to go to watch dolphin,it will be better to order early
Very nice breakfast with fresh fruit juice and various food. The beach is also good, smooth dark sand, and you can just lay there enjoy sunshine while watching locals fishing.
Light in restroom is not working. And during our stay my friend fell sick but they seems not concerned.
Spacious room with direct access to garden/pool. Beautiful beach, great food
