The Wi-fi had a pretty bad reach down to the rooms but really who need to go online when youre neighbour to a national park?
Even before getting there, the hotel helped us by organising a full day safari, which we only confirmed upon arrival. The best guide was booked, Panda safari, guy had been in the business for 40 years. Managed to get us 2 solo experiences with two different leopards and managed to keep the animal calm and not to scare it away. The hotel arranged and sent breakfast and lunch with us for the safari which was great and very much recommended. Also upon arrival we wanted to have a snack, although the lunch and restaurant were actually closed, but they could still fix two classy club sandwiches for us. Since it was still daylight when we arrived we wanted to eat outside instead of in our room, and they opened up the bar down by the cabanas just for us and had a bartender there just for us as they came down with the food on silver trays. Dinner buffet was excellent, with all kinds of local food, starters and desserts and a separate table only for the different kinds of curry. Both the straff and the main chef were there to assist as well as explain what the different dishes involved. They also helped out with flavour since some of the dishes were rather spicy! Breakfast the day after had the same class, lots of variation, both local and continental alternatives, lots of staff to help and we left as fed up in our stomaches as you could ever be! The Roma were basic, but very clean and fresh, good channels on the tv to catch an evening movie, and a really great pool right in the middle of the whole hotel area. In summary: perfect for a short safari stay, no matter age or travel companionship. Very friendly, kind and professional staff. I myself have worked a lot in finer establishments so I know quite a lot of which codes you are to apply when serving correctly at a restaurant. The staff performance in these areas were excellent, as well as they were genuinely friendly and interested in what we were doing in Sri Lanka and where we come from etc.
