This place was aweful and not worth any money. Its actually a restaurant and you live in it more or less. The rooms were located next to the restaurant sitting area or above the kitchenarea so that all odures go straight in the rooms. You also have to use shared bathrooms if you dont book the superior rooms which were really disgusting. You share it with restaurant guests, staff and other hotelguests. Dirty toothbrushes and shavers laid around.
great hotel, very clean and rooms are like new :) great location and very helpful staff, they can also organize trips for you for a good price with great drivers
- Very noisy! We heard somebody watching a horror movie for 2 hours, people talking, someon having sex and the rest of the night snooring! - Pictures of rooms do not match with real rooms - too expensive for what they offer
-excelent staff - the owner (manager) is very nice and helpfull -good location (near Lake and Temple of Tooth Relic) -although it is in the center, the guest house is a peaceful and quite place -nice outside area for sitting -you can bring your drinks there
-it would be nice if the bathroom would be more separated
- Clean room and wifi access - Location very close to the city center
- Nothing I would not like -> I changed my room from standard to superior due to heavy critics on this site (but maybe there was no need to do this). The restaurant is not so problematic regarding the noise and I think there wouldn't be problems using shared showers as others complained.
The location of the Charlton Kandy Rest is very good, near the Temple and the lake. The wifi works correctly both inside and outside the rooms. Staff were friendly and attentive.
It is a regular guest house, not dirty, but not clean. There were only men hosted at the hotel, which made me feel a little bit unconfortable as I am a female solo traveller.
The owner was a very pleasant man, had to travel late at night the next day and was charged only 50 percent instead of the full rate. The hotel is in the heart of kandy, can get to almost anywhere on foot.
Restaurant runs talk about 10 ish and can get noisy but after lights out its pretty much good
Great location, just down the road from the attractions. Manager or owner was great, very helpful and seemed a nice guy all round. Our room wasent great so he moved us to a bigger room without us even asking- good call. will definitely use again.
the pictures and details on the web about this place was fake... service is very poor and no wi-fi conecton given during the stay even though it says free wi-fi available..
Good location. Hotel is in the city centre.
Very badly situated kitchen. The kitchen does not have direct ventilation. Smoke from kitchen rises into the rooms in upstairs. Shared bathrooms may be look better.
Noisy and a lot of small insect in the room. A lot og mosquito in the sitting area in the lobby
Staff were so friendly and helpful. Location is ideal for, exploring kandy and is a short walk to the stations, markets etc. great value for money; can't get much more central at this price. would definitely stay again.
The owner was very nice, helpfull, kinde etc.. He offered drinks and food! He helped us to book activities. He showed us the city with his car! The location was also excellent (near to the tooth temple)!! I recommend it!!
Staff, place itself, wifi. Food was ok too.
Rooms are facing a restaurant, so evening may be a bit loud. But normally restaurant shuts by 10.30pm
value for money, Middle of the city, good staff.
No car parking, congested
Good stay, the personnal are nice, all is clean even the shared facikities are always clean!
Staff service only
For Standard room there is no toilet sepertate it's sharing basis which is not acceptable at all
Good location and friendly staff
Not so clean. Rats in the roof kept me up most of the night
Location in the city center
Noise during all the night (inside the hôtel because the rooms are around the main hall); Mosquitos Bathroom without window Unskilled staff Vert expensive for the services provided...
The price very expensive during the Peherara
The position in perfect to visit the city . We went to see the esala perahera and we could reach it by feet. Good food, staff really kind and friendly.
Unfortunately not very clean.
I liked location, really near Buddha temple, next many shops the boss is really really kind and nice person. Room is clean and at night it is quite and you can sleep well. Private Toilet is good
Boss is kind but staff is lazy and there are always misunderstand in what you order. They forget always something. Price is very expensive, 75 dollars in Sri Lanka without breakfast is crazy expensive but we were during esala perahera and couldn't find something anything cheaper
Good location and friendly staff
Room was very noisy, separating walls are thin as paper; we did not manage to connect to their wi-fi; only 3 bathrooms to share, which were tiny and not as clean as expected; price might have been increased due to the Esala Perahera going on, but we still found it overpriced.
We had a nice stay at the Charlton Rest. The owner was very friendly and helpful. We stayed during the festival Perahera and he personally made sure we had a good place to view the parade. The courtyard was relaxing, and the food they served was delicious. Wifi was available in the room and the courtyard. Since you are in the heart of the city, it is easy to walk around and see all of the sites. Great hotel , good value for the money, and we highly recommend it.
Great central location and good price. Rooms are basic and above the kitchen so strong food smells but clean and comfortable enough. The bar / restaurant is over-priced but they let you bring in food and drink from outside. Staff were generally extremely helpful.
We were two young (ish) females and the staff were a little TOO friendly... one guy was particularly persistent and kept knocking on our door late at night - it was quite intimidating. The manager did apologise the next day. Also I chose this hotel for the in-room internet access and unfortunately it went down at a crucial moment. When it worked it was a good signal though.
