The staff was always very prompt when it came to room service and cleaning - however in order to replenish the complimentary water, mini-bar and fruit basket, we were disturbed almost every 15 minutes in one afternoon for a new item to be brought into the room.
Excellent location between the hustle-bustle of Unawatuna and Galle Fort. Rooms were very clean with a wonderful view - we stayed in the Aqua romance room which opened up to a little pool and the beach beyond that; the bathroom was huge with a jacuzzi and shower area. We were also provided with a soap and pillow menu upon our arrival! Staff were extremely friendly and kind. We had some of the best Sri Lankan curry at the in-house restaurant La Mer. Breakfast too is extensive providing both local and international choices. Extremely tranquil and peaceful setting, being a boutique hotel it not was too crowded. The private beach makes the experience all the more exclusive and serene. Highly recommended.
Perhaps there could have been more towels available in the pool and beach areas also there needs to be more garbage bins in the public areas.
Excellent staff at the hotel, they were all very polite and so helpful. Food was great with an excellent variety, we particularly enjoyed the Sri Lankan breakfasts and curries. It was a very relaxing 5 days and my toddler daughter enjoyed the swimming pool and beach. We are already planning a trip back next year!
Wi-fi connection was not perfect!
The view from our room was amazing with a jacuzzi on the balcony! Breakfast was served until 2pm which was fantastic as we could go out and do early morning activities and still have breakfast on our return. A first for any hotel I've stayed at! Brilliant service from all members of staff. The waiters were super efficient and went out of their way to ensure our daughter enjoyed her meals too. We were also pampered with high tea every afternoon which kept us going till dinnertime. Reny and Manisha were great at recommending and organising a number of activities for us including a cycling tour and bathing, feeding and riding an elephant. Cocobay is a very family orientated, child friendly establishment and we would recommend it for its location, service and warm atmosphere.
It was all great
Cocobay was a great location - close to Galle but still secluded. The staff were all excellent & being a boutique hotel it wasn't over crowded or frenetic feeling.
Nothing - everything exceeded our expectations from the fabulous food to the willingness of staff to play beach cricket with the kids ...
Cocobay is a fabulous boutique style hotel that is close to everything - but still has that slightly secluded and relaxed feel. Stylishly furnished, with excellent staff! will definitely come back.
Nowhere nice to walk to from hotel. Cement factory across the street
Staff were friendly. Breakfast was good
The beach, the style of the hotel. For sure the best is the staff. They are so nice! I was sick, they were very kind to give me the medicine and introduced me to the hospital. My husband forgot his swimming shots in the hotel, and finally they sent to the airport!
The sea was a little cloudy compared to other beaches.
Very well run. Friendly staff. Lovely setting. Good food on the a la carte menu especially their curries.
Personal service, relaxed atmosphere
Great staff and food, the room was great and the view was nice. The hotel is close to a beach that feels private. However, the beach is not as nice as in Unawatuna Bay, but you can reach that one easliy if you want so.
There was some loud music from a hotel on the other side of the bay during the night, however the hotel manager quickly moved up and we were upgraded to a suite with evening meal. We were very happy with this and had a wonderful time
We were upgraded to a suite and we loved our room overlooking the sea. The food was just excellent. Service was the best ever. Reception staff helpful, room attendant friendly and caring. We were treated so well here and we loved it
The hotel, location was horrible, the facilities (or lack of), the private beach is a joke and filthy, and there is no value for money at all- if you know Sri lanka you will know that you can get a lot better for a lot less
The food was good but nothing else
This was my third time in Unawatuna and my first time staying at Cocobay. As usual I am ready to go back again! And the next time to stay at Cocobay again. Great hotel - great staff - great atmosphere and definately created a memory in my mind that will never be forgotten! :)
Co Co Bay was the last of three hotels my wife and I stayed in on our trip to Sri Lanka. All we small boutique hotels and all of them were special in their own ways. Co Co Bay was chosen from many options by its positive reviews and it did not disappoint. From the minute we arrived until we waved goodbye 5 days later our stay was nothing short of excellent. We were warmly welcomed, the room was a delight the views from the room and also through the glass wall of the bathroom were wonderful. Throughout our stay the staff were excellent, attentive and polite, and always smiling. Rooms were cleaned several times a day and the flower arrangements on the beds each day were spectacular. The food was always of a high standard, presented well with plenty of choice for all palettes. The beach again cleaned several times a day is lovely with safe bathing and fantastic views out over the bay towards Galle. The hotel has a light, fresh and airy feel to it. The design ensures that there always seems to be a lovely fresh breeze blowing through the hotel. The location of the hotel is perfect, it is very close to Galle but feels much more remote. I could go on - monkeys in the trees, sand crabs on the beach, fishermen hauling their nets in twice a day but go and see for yourself, it really is wonderful.
The staff could not have done any more - they were so helpful. The location was nice as it was private and not too far (a £1.50 tuk tuk) ride from some lovely places to eat and have a drink in Unawatuna. Food at the hotel was lovely and our room was really nice. Would definitely recommend for a nice break after travelling round Sri Lanka.
The spa service is outsourced and the place is not really up to the hotel standards although the massage was good and fairly cheap. Rooms are quite expensive, but if you can afford it, go for it. You will not regret it.
We have spent 3 nights at this hotel and everything was just amazing. Excellent staff, very nice private beach, nice pool and excellent food and drinks. Galle Fort is just a 10 minute Tuk Tuk ride away. We had an amazing room with sea view, free snacks were also offered in the room. We had an amazing stay and would return any time.
The only thing I missed was not having a nice chair in the room - there is a sofa of sorts, but uncomfortable - but seriously, this was not a real issue
All rooms are facing the beach, to open up the balcony doors is amazing. With clean rooms, comfy bed, and quick laundry service The staff were exceptional in looking after us, making sure we had everything we needed, and were very friendly.
Fantastic small hotel with many nice touches. Outstanding food and service.
The Sea Escape room was brilliant. Everything was brilliant actually!
Friendly Service Tasty Food Room facilities
World class food and service Close to Galle Fort and Unawatuna Beach Attractive ocean view rooms
The wifi connection was poor
Luxury stay, staff were very friendly. HUGE breakfast which was delicious. Comfortable bed with lovely large corner bath. Took a free yoga class too. We both loved it here and would have liked to have stayed longer.
Gimmicky jacuzzi that leaked Journey time from/to airport Pool not heated
Staff Food quality Sea views
The hotel is a gem tucked away in the city. With views facing the beach and constant lovely breeze the hotel was pure luxury. What added to our wonderful experience was the staff. They were so helpful and polite. They made us feel right at home. They showed us the famous sites of the city as well as showing us to a placr where we got to ride feed and bathe an elephant. This really made our trip! The food there was really delicious as well. The rooms were so comfortable and quite large with a large bathroom and a big balcony with lounge furniture. The rooms we stayed had a beautiful view of the beach and sea
