I went here with my husband, his sister and our parents. We stayed in three super deluxe cabanas. The bed was the most comfortable bed ever! The rooms are spacious, stylish, well equipped, and they are cleaned everyday. The bathrooms are all breathtaking.There are two big, picturesque pools that are kept nice and clean. They provide towels for both pool and beach use which was great. The breakfast is delicious and fair for the price paid. The serving staff are courteous, friendly, and efficient. We booked whale watching through the hotel which was brilliant! Overall, we loved our stay at Hotel Flower Garden and this is the second time we have visited. Highly recommended for a place to stay in Unawatuna!
Upon arrival we did not receive the rooms we requested. There is no such thing as a twin cabana, so do not request one because they'll say they can do it and then they can't! Times and information given about a trip to Yala were very inaccurate and in the end this spoiled our day. Be prepared not to return from any safaris until 11pm.
Paying for anything in this place is an absolute farce and takes forever! They need a better system to keep track of bills etc. It's all done on paper and just isn't efficient. We asked for our final bills at 10am the morning before we were due to leave. They said it'd be ready for 12pm. Then, at 12pm, they said maybe 12:30pm. We went to the beach and asked if it could be ready when we got back. At 5pm, still no final invoice, and they didn't even know what we wanted to pay for (We were leaving early the next morning)! Finally, at 6pm we got our bills. It took an hour to pay. 30mins before we were due to leave the next morning, I informed the receptionist I had taken some things from the minibar and wished to pay. He didn't draw up a bill until we were literally pulling away in the taxi. Furthermore, I witnessed many other guests having payment problems during my stay. REALLY TERRIBLE, get a better system Hotel Flower Garden because this is the only thing that really lets you down!
