    The rooms are very clean

It's a bit far from Kandy. The view from the room was not what I was expecting (I got the impression that I could see as lot more from the reviews I read before booking).

Although the rooms were simple, they were clean and the beds were very comfortable. The owners are very hospitable and very interested in making your stay very pleasant. We did not have dinner, but our breakfast which was included was wonderful. They went out of their way to please our children. Overall, a very welcoming and wonderful guesthouse. Highly recommended!

Hanthana House is a nice guest house, away from the city centre. Its not a Hotel its a guest house so do not expect all luxuries of a hotel. But Mr. Pathi and his wife are very welcoming. and very friendly. Food served is delicious and you can tell your preference to get the desired food. But food is over priced. 8 USD per person. Breakfast is complimentary, so do not worry about breakfast. Rooms and guest house is tidy and clean. There is a mosquito net on beds but on the top side its covered with thick white cloth which makes it difficult for one to get direct air from fan. I had to remove it as I was sweating otherwise. Location is ideal for somone who is looking to stay somewhere away from City Centre or hustle bustle of the city. Its a nice but very far from the main road, with scenic mountain views. Over all its a nice play to stay at, yes there are some adv and disadvantages, which one must weigh out before you check in. If you intend to stay at a place where you can go out at any time of the day to look around the city or just wander, then its a no no, if you are looking for a place where you want to relax and want to have a home like feeling where food is served in traditional way then yes its a good place to stay.

Food is very pricey as each meal was charged at USD 8 per person, which I think is a lot for one or two main courses. Four of us had to pay USD 32 for a meal. The meal price was not told, I got to know it when we were checking out. Rooms are listed as Air conditioned with tiles, though they are not Air conditioned. There is a mosquito net on beds but on the top side its covered with thick white cloth which makes it difficult for one to get direct air from fan. I had to remove it as I was sweating otherwise. Double bed was not very wide, It was a 5 feet wide double bed because the room is not very spacious. One has to have personal hired vehicle to get around the city. Lake is a bit far from the Guest House. The guest house is not even near the city centre, its on the mountains on a very quiet side, with no direct access to main road. If you intend to stay at a place where you can go out at any time of the day to look around the city or just wander, then its a no no.

We went for our honeymoon trip. It is having the greatest aspect of privacy Food was excellent, room was very clean, staff was really good and well managed.

Its better if you can put a side fan for each room without having a ceiling fan

Piano was Available at lobby area for playing.

The location was quiet far from city Centre. One has to have a hired vehicle to reach the house. Food offered by the management is Very expensive e.g usd 8/- for an adult per meal. Air conditiobed room was not provide as confirmed by confirmation email. Room was not prepared Once we reached the facility. And the luggage was put in wrong rooms and the same was Shown to us and afterwards it was quiet embarrasing to shift again. Due to this delay we missed cultural dance performance on the same day and had to change the next two days program. The entrance of house and room was quiet awkward. The tiled road Leaving from mein road to the accomodation is in Very bad condition and quiet unsafe.

This was a highlight our our trip in Sri Lanka. Hanthana House is a 10-15 minute tuk tuk drive in the hills behind Kandy, with beautiful views over the valley and city. They have their own local tuk tuk driver so going to/from the city is easy. Patti and his family are very welcoming and prepared the most delicious and plentiful home cooked food we had during our entire trip. The rooms are clean and beautifully decorated, just like in the photos.

Hanthana House is a family run guesthouse. The people are very nice and helped me to organize my further trips and did a hike with me (for USD 15) The apartments are new, clean and quiet. Food was good as well even though I think there is was one option to select (rice) only. Location is on the top of the hill so do not expect a central accommodation inside of Kandy here. It is more a hidden calm place. Very nice stay overall so I can recommend this place.

The only thing they should do is to put some curtains inside of the window since the balcony is a shared one with the other apartment on the same floor so privacy is missing. It was not a problem for me since the other room was empty during my stay.

The family have the use of their own tuk tuk so getting into town isnt a problem. Infact it was nice be out out the busy city. Patis wife was a wonderful cook and we had the best food of our 3 week tour of Sri Lanka at Hanthana. Lovely family.

The place is very clean The room has a light modern simple feel to it Bathroom was adequate for our needs. The owners family and employees were nice. View up to ithe place and from balcony was good. Mosquito nets and mosquito plug ins

Its like being an awkward house guest we couldnt relax. No privacy- shared balcony ftom Room but no curtains on the room other than sheer nets. Not having space - the owners aver would sit with us over breakfast and dinner uninvited The price of drivers and tours the owner offered were more than double price we got in town. The food his kind wife cooked was very nice but highly overpriced. Location is far into the hills and lots of the road remains unbuilt which his worrying when its so high up in the mountains.

We loved the friendly welcome, the rooms are beautifully presented and the food exceptionally good. The views from our balcony more than compensated for the 10minute drive from Kandy centre. Only a packed schedule prevented from paying a return visit. We will definitely stay here again on future visits.

    Nothing :-))

Friendly family with a warm home to share with travellers. The authentic Sri Lankan food that was cooked was AMAZING! The owners were also able to make recommendations for our stay in the city. Would definitely recommend staying here :)

Can be a bit far from the city however transportation can easily be arranged though the owners before/upon arrival

The owner and his family were the loveliest people and were incredibly helpful. They helped us so much with all our arrangements for visiting the region and suggestions for things to do in Kandy. The room and bathroom were beautiful and spotlessly clean. The meals were delicious and varied. Hanthana house is the best value for money accommodation I've stayed in in Sri Lanka.

It's a little far out of town, so walking is not possible, but the views on the way up the hill are great and it's not a problem to get to by tuk tuk.
