Score from 3 reviews Wonderful
Great room, delicious food, perfect beach and quiet location.
Staff excellent and welcoming. Food great, even to separate vegetarian menu but you have to ask for it at breakfast. Beautiful location. Got late check out without paying extra. Excursions easy to book and at late notice.
The location is quite far up the coast from Trinco. The scuba diving trip organised through the hotel was with a company not of the same standard. Diving company did not feel reputable or safe. Dolphin watching trip good but overpriced.
Getting away from everything and being surrounded by nature in an Eco environment.
Would like the spa to be up and running
We loved so many things about this place - the eco commitment, fabulous and large jungle room, outdoor shower, out of this world food, high standard of service, amazing breakfasts and the beautiful beach. It really is worth paying that bit more for
It's quite remote. We hired bikes to cycle to the next town as a day out which gives opportunity to try out other restaurants. We stayed for 3 nights, any more and we would have been struggling to find things to do. But perfect for a getaway from it all
Style of resort Good quality food but menu doesn't change. Friendly staff Lovely Empty Beach Fantastic trip snorkelling to pigeon island with Sham and Sajith Denver was very helpful and attentive organising everything we wanted to do very efficiently
Spa not on site as is advertised and transport not provided to outside spa Constant sweeping outside of chalets at silly hours of the morning Although staff were very friendly and helpful the restaurant was lacking in more experienced staff not what I would expect at a 5* resort.
- staff is really friendly. - breakfast is huge and delicious - superb swimming pool - quite place ideally fro couples.
- its not 2.4 km from Trinco as shows on the website it's 27 km.
Despite having to travel about 15k from the center of town, arriving at the hotel is truly delving into a luxurious jungle. The concept of the resort is spot on with shade trees arching over footpaths, a boardwalk over the decorative lagoons filled with blooming water lilies, and breezy seating areas facing the coconut trees and beach. The premises are well-constructed but the service is still evolving. Housekeeping service was not consistent, with garbage left in the room and bed left half made. One night we had to send the dinner bill back three times for corrections. There seemed to be an abundance of staff on duty at all times, but sometimes a water refill or drink order would take quite long. During dinner, 4-5 different staff members would visit the table for various things and ask the same questions. The sentiment is nice, but was often disruptive and annoying. The hotel serves a set menu with a smaller a la cart menu each day. Some dishes were a bit too ambitious and the weak execution may not warrant the price. Several fish and prawn dishes were over-cooked and some cocktails were off. Though these are common mistakes elsewhere, the prices demanded higher quality and more precision. But, the staff was genuinely interested in improving, bartenders made changes to drink recipes, and some of the dishes we ate were top notch. The breakfasts were done extremely well with a fruit and bread tray and then one’s choice of a hot dish. The beach was one of the best features of the hotel as the private, extensive beach has no other resorts in sight. Umbrellas, lounge chairs and towels were provided and a little beach bar station was nearby for delicious local coconut and rum cocktails. There were no children at the resort during our stay (mostly couples 30-50 years old), however, the hotel indicated separate parts of the beach for families.
We were impressed by the professionalism of all staff, the design and quality of the buildings and the quality of food. thoroughly recommend.
Everything was perfect if you look for a honeymoon place or something quiet. The resort is really isolated from the anything so you can see the wildlife (monitors, squirel, birds, snake, iguana...) in front of you cabin. The staff is very forendly and ready to assist all your need. The restaurant is good but I felt the choice limited if you stay a long time. We had an amazing time there.
There was oil mixed to the sand everywhere. If you don't have transportation, it is impossible to even do the smallest shopping by yourself. Be careful with the wales and dolphin watching, we never sees them. I think they are overselling it.
location and design of the hotel
food ,water sport
Almost everything, especially hotel style and design
Prices for food and transportation
Very good food in the restaurant, both in the evening and at breakfast.(Not a buffet). Very changing, attentive staff.
location, overall experience.
Location Friendly staff Food Jungle chalets Overall feel
Everything. It is a perfect place off the beaten track, the food & presentation is the best we've had in Sri Lanka. Largest, most perfect room. Lovely pool area & beach location. The staff are attentive and desperate to please. Would highly recommend for the discerning traveller.
Jungle with the beach
amazing stay... food was incredible and the room was perfect. we loved our stay and would go back in a heart beat.
very attentive service would just have liked to a bit more poolside service for drinks
Being close to nature, really friendly staff, bathrooms in the beach villas were great!
This Resort is one of the best we´ve ever been. The staff is so great and makes your stay to something spezial. They know your wishes before you speak it out. The chalets are very comfortable and lovely. You also have much privacy in each chalet and an endless beach with only a few people. The water is clear and the waves were high. The breakfast was great and made with love. The restaurant offers a variety of Sri Lankan and Italian food. The Hotel also offers tours to some places of the Island with a small bus, a driver and a guide, who informs you well about all important things. The sri lankan people are very special, friedly, generous and mostly smile and are interested in you. We will come and see this lovely and impressive Island and this fantastic place at Jungle Beach again.
One of the best places we stayed to relax at the end of our trip to SL. Great, friendly staff, good food (try the fresh tuna steak medium rare) and direct beach access all make it very enjoyable.
Some of the extras are a little pricey, e.g. bike rides for 20 USD. The internet connection had some minor hiccups. The beach is cleaned for guest in the hotel section, the rest is unfortunately littered with plastic bottles.
Great hotel with professional, firendly and caring staff. Very good a la carte menu choice and huge breakfast. Relaxing atmosphere that makes you feel isolated from the rest if the world. Big and comfortable rooms. Large beach with security and lifeguards. Though all the beaches are public in the country, this beach is organized like a private.
Pretty far from the airport, but it's woth it. The area is in the middle of beautiful nature far from towns and villages. So it can also be called a "+".
An extremely relaxing visit! The location and scenery were both beautiful, and the staff and facilities were superb. Will definitely consider returning to this resort!
it's a good 48 room new property. Very good Std. I like the fact beach is always guarded & almost private + clean. In the night also it's well lit, so you can go for a walk after dinner. Sunrise @ 5;59am is worth getting up for. If you are looking for a relaxing beachside property then this is for you. Staff are really helpfull & the food std is also good. Personalised service.
it's bit far from Trinco town. It will take about 30- 40min to get there by private car. If you need to go to town & back all the time then the distance can be an issue. One-off or once daliy visit it's managable.
Everything about Jungle Beach was amazing. It was a beautiful hotel, amazing service, and outstanding location. From the minute we arrived at the hotel we were pampered. We were pleasantly surprised in every way from this hotel, it was far and away the highlight of our 2 week stay in Sri Lanka. We stayed in the beach challet and it was clean, beautifully designed and the service was impeccable. HIGHLY recommended.
The only downside would be the cost. It is certainly not a cheap hotel, but we left with the feeling that we got what we payed for.
Beautiful secluded cabins. Lovely beach without another soul in sight (save the odd other guest). It's a good 20 min drive to anywhere else ie if you want to go elsewhere for dinner/drinks/diving/trip to islands. Pretty isolated so they have a captive audience and prices reflect this. Lovely pool, spa not open yet though. We were lucky to have our driver on hand so he could take us out during the day or we'd have gone bonkers but that's just us - we like to try different things/places so it was a little too isolated. Food was excellent though, chef incredible and made a lot of things to order to account for dietary issues. Drinks also great. Very relaxing and romantic place to visit in all. I would recommend it for anyone wanting a peaceful stay in a beautiful part of Sri Lanka.
The staff, while well-meaning were just not quite up to scratch. They had to be asked many times for water at dinner. They got orders wrong, they were extremely slow at times. They would present you with a cocktail menu when you sat down for dinner and then take 10 mins to return with the food and wine menus when that's what you asked for. It feels wrong to complain about them because they were extremely friendly and polite they just don't quite have the polish I would expect of a 5 star establishment, especially for what you pay.
