Liked everything - food, staff, cleanliness - all. Staffs were excellent. The manager was really so helpful that he managed me a Three Wheeler whose driver (A B M Seraj) was the best companion I had in Sri Lanka tour. He was so helpful and good behaving. The view from the hotel is excellent and the name of the hotel really worth!
All food were great however only the Fried Rice I ate need a little improvements I think. And the hotel is high above the road level so people with problems hiking may find it a little tough.
any body not going there.
i like the environment and the food was excellent.
Beautiful view from the hotel, very friendly and helpful staff.
staff are excellent very professional, chef excellent will cook you what you want, roof top restaurant was great very comfortable and relaxing, enjoyed swim in the pool. Tuk tuk drivers who are known to the hotel are very trustworthy and are a very reasonable price to hire for the day and very good value for money. Rooms very comfortable with great views. Will be staying again next year
Friendly staff, quiet location, good food
The room was near the reception so it was really noisy in the early morning
Very good hotel, location not far from the center. Full variety of services. We arrange all tours to the nearest sights at the hotel for a very good price! Also as transfer. During our stay at Kandy, I have an incident with one local. He steal my gold bangle. I tell about my problems to the manager of the hotel and he help me to find and return my bangle. A lot of thanks again to manager of the hotel!!!
nothing! Everything was good!
- The view from the terrace over Kandy - Meals were delicious - Not too expensive
- Room located not in the main building. (200m on a hill above) - Road leading to the adjacent building was dimly lit at night - Room drastically needs refurbishment - No mosquito net
despite they try to keep it clean, and put clean sheets on the bed ( at least in my room, friends had even issues with that ) the pillow case was old stinky and full of mildew, asking for shampoo was to much, and the general atmosphere was of tension and of not knowing how to deal with people, even though it has been said by the manager it is ONLY a budget hotel, but for sure even this money was not up for standards
very friendly staff. good food. amazing view of kandy. clean rooms. wonderful staff and management.
a lil bit of a distance from market area. but tuk tuks are easily availble. the manager will make arrangments for transportation.
So beautiful view from the terrase. Good atmosphere, so helpful staff. Tasty, traditional Srilankan food (you can observe how your supper is prepared). Good place for relax with incredible view for jungle and the valley. (+fast wifi)
Good location, impressive views, tasty cuisine
Budget room is a decoy! Eventually you'll have to pay for standard room... Simply unfair.
The views are fantastic. Food was good. Service good but stayed only one night so difficult to judge.
No supply of towels. Poor power supply in room.
Staff was very kind. I changed reservation on the last time without any problems.
Horrible bathroom. Shower bath didn't flow away. Everywhere was mould.
Great view, nice breakfast
I could hear the people talking in the dining area while in my room, made it a little difficult to sleep
Only the price
It was far from the city center and the economic rooms were in another building climbing a very steep backroad. Terrible.
The helpfulness of the staff, the view from the gigantic windows in the luyxury room, the very good meals
The view from the terrace.
* Sheets were dirty and very used. This is clearly unacceptable. * The stairs to get to the terrace are quite unusable, the last steps are really too high
Staff was very nice and eager to help, nice view, interesting that you could see your curry be prepared one night
Price a bit high compared to what you get for less money in other Sri Lankan hotels
Bad attitude personnel/manager Dirty pillows, when we asked for new they were just as dirty Low water pressure No mosquito net Mix up with booking so we had to take a room without view as we first had booked Very loud, we could hear people arguing with manager at night
We stayed here for the last few days of the Esala Perahera 2014. Highlight for us was that it is not located in the centre of the city which was ideal during the festival so we could get away from the crowds. We would recommend getting a room with a view its definitely worth the extra money. The breakfast here is incredible also, with both Western style breakfast and Sri Lankan breakfast available. The staff were brilliant too and very helpful- the manager got us tickets for the festival, and also one of the mornings we wanted to go to Sigiriya for the day and the manager had a driver for us in half an hour. All in all we would stay here again if in Kandy.
We gave the driver who brought us to Sigriya 3,000 rupees, however the hotel manager and already arranged that he would pay the driver and we would pay the driver - not the hotel's fault we got scammed though! They even refunded us the money.
Our room had the feel of a bright, open attic- high ceilings, tons of light, with a small balcony and a view of the surrounding hillside. One is close enough to see wild monkeys visible in the tropical trees poking up out of the mountains. The restaurant was excellent, with a great view itself and very helpful and friendly staff. Book a deluxe room so you can get on the top floor. It's well worth it.
This is less a description of what I didn't like than one of what the hotel could improve upon. The building is old, which means the rooms and showers aren't in the greatest shape. Wifi also is very inconsistent. All in all though, if you can handle not having a five star room, and you don't mind "unplugging" for a couple days, this is a nice and relaxing mountain retreat.
Staff and size of the room. Value for money. Good place to just to relax.
Food is over priced. Breakfast was very basic.
we stayed in this hotel 2 times: the first time (pre-booked) the room was better than the 2nd (booked by luck on the day we arrived during the Esala Perahera). the first room was big and had a nice view. the 2nd room was a budget room and was obviously of a different standard. breakfast was in buffet style, with choice of toast and jam, eggs of own choice, noodles or pasta, vegetables, dahl, pancakes and fruit (which we found extensive in comparison to guesthouses). the owner/manager? was friendly and helpful (although he gave us contradictory information about the Esala Perahera, e.g. that shops and restaurants in town would close early, but this seems only the case for shops/restaurants which are located on the perahera route).
towels are only changed every other day (the first day we got towels that were useless since they were not able to dry your body and were worn). sheets do not look clean (borders look as if they are burned with cigarettes all over the length). wifi was slow/did not always work. location: ok if you have time to walk (nice stroll via the lake, approx. 20-25 min. to city centre), otherwise (+ during the dark night) a tuk tuk is needed (+- 250-300 rs.). birds are very noisy in the evening time (this has nothing to do with the hotel, but is a warning to bring ear plugs). + during the night/early morning there was a lot of noise: chairs that are moved, people taking showers, shouting, ... the 2nd room (budget option, not booked via booking.com but on our own, haphazardly by showing up unexpected) was overpriced since it was Esala Perahera. This room was not as clean as the first room, looked old and smelled musty. It was also more humid.
We enjoyed very much the view and the friendly staff (especially Amila). The breakfast is also quite good as compared to srilankan standard
Furnitures are very old. A bit noisy at early morning (probably because some rooms next to the kitchen).
