Very informative staff who gave excellent advice and what you should pay for Tuk-Tuks etc. Have their own contact who provided excellent value for money for a tour to where we wanted to go, knowledgeable and even bought us lunch!
Food was average although good range of choice and cooked to order. The views were not quite as good as described as you merely looked out at trees and properties at a lower level
We arrived at the hotel and they took us to our room, in a separate building at least 150m uphill, quite steep. But...in our room there were lots of stuffed animals, the wardrobe was filled with other people's underwear and stuff and there were 2 huge dogs in a cage behind the house, they just wouldn't stop barking, day and night...then the next day we got a room in a different building (so not in someones house), no WiFi there, also not in the common areas and we could still hear the dogs :( it was our cheapest accomodation on Sri Lanka but would definitely pay a bit more for a different experience.
great view from our room with a panoramic window, friendly cheerful helpful staff nothing was to much trouble, antics of monkeys around the hotel added entertainment
no tv, do think cable tv is, these days, a must
Quiet location, 15 minutes walk to the lake. Simple building and rooms but the warm hospitality of the staff makes up for it. We were HB, excellant food and ambience in the restaurant.
The pool was very small and between walls so no sun or space to sit.
We were a family of 6 and small child We like the fact we were offered a banglow so we all can be together... And had great view ... Its totally worth the price
The way to reach the main hotel from the way.... It was a very narrow slab concrete over a open drain
We stayed twice at this place as we really fell in love with the hotel and the staff. The staff, service were excellent. We will return again
Not really... everything was gud

Location // Breakfast // and friendly staff //
The rooms on the top floor were nice with one wall as a large window. Nice walks in to town. Beds comfortable.
The manager was more interested in the girls than the general customer and was over selling the tours and taxis
The rooms are poorly, towls were old, the rooms were sprayed full with perfume to coverup ..... Cleaning was not up to standart. Breakfast had low standart.
The staff were very helpful and helped us with tours and all. The restaurant view was excellent and it was very relaxing. Food was good too.
Towels and sheets were not changed during our whole 2 nights stay even though we requested them to.
Staff was very friendly and really helpful. At night I was unable to find the hotel (there is a large sign of the Kandy View Hotel in front of a different building) and the manager of duty picked me up and brought me to the hotel.
There were wasps in my bathroom and some other insects. There was a cockroach in the living room.
our positive review is based on the awesome room (more like a suite) that we got while having paid a budget room price. our room was located in building 5 minutes walking distance from the main hotel building (steep walk uphill). initially the owner showed us a room on the first floor which wasn't too large and smelled humid. she quickly asked us if we'd like to see the room on the 2nd floor. surprise surprise!! a large room, high ceiling, private washroom, large terrace, and right outside a kitchenette and dining room. A private chalet! and the view was just beautiful. hotel restaurant serves really good food and is generous and also has a nice view and is outdoors.. all staff are awesome, even the one who ate our papaya and pretended to have thrown it away by mistake (which is very unlikely given how attractive this particular papaya was)! ALL IN ALL GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY - we paid about $15 a night (new year)
The staff was friendly and very helpful. Loved the food in the roof top restaurant. Enjoyed the curry cooking lesson. If I'm we are ever in Kandy again we are staying at Kandy View!
Great, picturesque restaurant. Chef demonstrations of curry cooking were great and the food was all delicious. Wifi was generally good although only in public areas. Pool was a nice bonus. We were upgraded from a budget room to a full apartment for no extra as we had 3 people. Very clean. The views from our balcony and the restaurant specifically were spectacular. Location was fine. Tuk tuk from railway 3-400rupee.
The bed was very hard - like a board. The water pressure was not great (up a hill), shower head fell off. Dogs barking kept us awake. Other than that, no complaints!
Very friendly and helpfull staff
Humidity in the room Old equipment breakfast not tasty very noisy difficult to find
Perfect cook (chicken curry cooked right infront of us) and they updated our room to the best room in the hotel. Close to the city centre.
Welcoming and breakfast were great, also the terrace of the restaurant was very beautiful, just like eating in the middle of the jungle. They served us a very good dinner at 10.15 (kitchen closed at 10.30) cause we arrived very late. Shower was good (not easy to find in SL at this price). Staff was really friendly and still very professional. They made us park our car next to the entrance. Really great price.
As I often write, no complains at these prices (like 12 doollars per night..), just reporting; our room was supposed to have the "city view", well, I do not even think that any of the rooms have this city view stuff. Room was so so, cleaned but not very comfortable, the bathroom, apart for the shower, needed a check up. The wi fi, that we should had, didn't get it to the room. The place was a pain to be find, also asking locals.
The Kandy View Hotel might not be a 5* hotel but the service makes up for it. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. You can easily organise well priced tuk tuks from the reception desk - tuk tuks in town tried to charge double the rate quoted by the hotel. The dinner was good (the beef curry was delicious and so too was the fish curry) breakfast is basic but all that you need - fruit, scrambled eggs and toast, or local cuisine. The rooms on the top floor have a nice view of the forest. (Don't forget to switch on the geyser when you arrive and shower quickly, it's a tiny geyser). For a traveller who wants basic comfort at an affordable rate I'd definitely recommend the Kandy View Hotel and their friendly staff. (I must mention that despite confirming an airport pickup via email weeks in advance with the hotel they failed to arrive at the airport and we took another taxi, thankfully at the same price).
Towels need replacing, geysers need to be bigger (hot water runs out in under a minute).
The staff were lovely and extremely helpful
Tired and basic hotel, you got what you paid for, so in that respect it was value for money
The price is good for What you get, a big room with a big bathroom (you can dance in it!!) with a nature view. Food is delicious and staf is very friendly! Also they organize good trips!
The bed feels a little bit dirty but it was okay!
Big room with nice view over kandy hills. Nice restaurant and friendly staff.
If you get the economy room, you won't be in the main building but 100 metres going up in a very, very steepy road (not nice to walk). A liter far from the city centre. No wifi in the roms.
Good staff, price
Hotel is too far from the city, tuk tuk is necessary.
The view, the rooftop restaurant, the 15 min walk down to the lake in town, the food and the courteous staff.
The view from the restaurant
I was in the Budget block which is up a very very steep hill.Part of the way is next to a deep storm drain, along a narrow track. The Budget block could do with a LOT of TLC. No Wifi in the Block.
