We loved the setting - the whole area was beautiful, and very relaxing! We liked that there was plenty to do to keep our 5 kids happy, the food choices were great, and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. Well, I booked the rooms that booking.com said I needed to book, but when checking into the hotel, they made us upgrade to two triple rooms, instead of double rooms with cots added. (This was more comfortable for our family, but wasn't an option when I was booking online, and thus ended up costing us more than we had planned.) Overall, we felt it was worth it - but would have liked it to have worked out a bit cheaper than what we ended up with.

A beautiful location in the magic of the rainforest. The service was attentive and helpful and the Sri Lankan hospitality was as first class as always. Make sure you find the time to have a swim in the beautiful, clear river. The hotel is in need of some significant refurbishment and we were told this was happening this year. The hotel is definitely overpriced (comparative to other places we stayed in Sri Lanka) for the quality of the rooms and I don't think it can rely much longer on the scenery alone to justify the price of the rooms. At the moment, I would recommend the hotel as a place to stay and have a long, leisurely lunch and enjoy the view and have a swim.

Great view, comfy bed. Nice breakfast. We paid $100 on Christmas Day, I think this was overpriced. Bugs crawl into the fan rooms.

The location was superb. It is right next to the river with seating looking out over the river. The building itself is a well-maintained, lovely old colonial structure. The restaurant also overlooks the river. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.
