the food was excellent in every way and the staff were too the rooms were clean and comfortable.
the weather was rainy and stormy a lot of the time here which made it cold and so we could not use the pool facility as was all outdoors so not suitable to use given the weather and there was nothing else for entertaining children here.
The atmosphere, the terraces, the pool, the food a la carte, the size of the room
Mosquitos, noise of the minaret and of the road on the other side of the river, dirty matrasses on seats of swimming pool, the music in the restaurant
Hotel with nice views, clean rooms
Very expensive hotel, even for locals
Very clean, excelent attention, Excelent driver for our trips Mr. Aruna was a very careful and respectful driver
Mosquitos can not let you sleep at night and to many flyes on the restaurant. Food avrerage
Poolside gardens and grounds facing Mahaweli River!
Bathrooms are very old and not the least clean! Bedrooms are very Spartan and need further improvement.
Dinner with candels along the river for the valentine's day.
- some works were done during our stay. - the room has to be renovated.
The excellent service staff at the restaurant
Though wifi is free....it had difficulties in logging in.
Very large hotel, with beautiful rooms, large, and with balconies. Nice pool, and facilities. Great large restaurant with very good food and buffets (even for those who dont like sri lankan food). Good wifi, and very friendly staff. Good prices given the facility. Super friendly staff.
Noisy. Music and events from downstairs can keep being loud till after 11PM. If you have issues with noise, this would be a problem for you. Otherwise, its a great place to stay and I highly recommend it.
Spacious rooms, nice pool, beautiful gardens, fabulous breakfast buffet.
Disappointed at the very 1990s outdated styling and worn furniture. Definitely not five star. Not good value for money.
Staff was not friendly and they asked you to wait but never come back to you. There was a wedding held at the lobby area and was very noisy. No Wi-Fi in the room. The whole place was very chaotic
Spacious rooms with nice decor Comfortable beds friendly staff and service breakfast spread
Crowded reception because of group stays
Hotel looked very impressive on arrival
Dirty, run down and considerable staff training required particularly in the dining room
like the location and staff is very friendly and helpful.
we were given a room near the river and damp smell of the room is unbearable, I was ill after staying in the hotel. They moved us to a better room later. The WIFI non excistent
I quite liked the food
Less amount of facilities available for a deluxe room, I can get better facilities in a different hotel for better rates, even for deluxe rooms, and I'm a person who travels a lot and has pretty good experience on hotels and rates
Room are large and comfortable. Service is excellent. The food is exquisit.
Price is on the high end but so is the service.
Room was not clean and dirty Room has lot of Ant every where. Food was very bad Water leak came to my room and no action has been taken from the managment
Bathroom is old style
food was excellent, staff friendly
The architecture resembles old colonial and the grounds are beautiful. The setting for meals overlooks pleasant gardens.Staff were very helpful and friendly.International food was of good quality and available.
I had no negative comment
Decor, grounds, and spacious rooms. Enjoyed the colonial vibe. Accommodating to our children. Breakfast buffet was very good.
It was bigger and busier than we previously recalled - this cause small service lapses. Interior of dining room can get very warm in the evening.
General levels of comfort are high and restaurant is very good at lunchtime, room service is excellent in the evening.
The habit of ushering the guests away from the reception area to "sit down" each time you ask them to perform a task is infuriating- sometimes it is better just to get on with it.
It is a charming hotel in it's own way, but quite far away from the city center of Kandy. Except from the distance the location is quite nice, right next to the mahaweli river. We were given an upgrade and room decoration for our honeymoon.
While the hotel is quite charming with its colonial look and feel and big swimming pool in the garden it feels a bit outdated. Check-in was very long (almost 45min!) and staff wasn't always friendly. Feels a bit overpriced for what it actually is...
Pool, the room and the view on the river
Food is not good at the restaurant and very expensive for the quality.
The staff at ground level were great. Junior suite was great. Pool looked great. Food (buffet) good and choice extensive. Wilbert, our trip driver, was great. I had to move to a standard room as the suite was next to the stage. The standard room is also nice but they did not want to return difference in money between this and suite. Took some arguing for them to agree.
Arrived Saturday afternoon, booked buffet dinner at 19:30. Moments after sitting down power tools started as they setup a stage for a Sunday night event. This continued until 22:30 metres away from diners. Sunday night was a loud live band for a party I was not invited to, it took over the entire hotel. Lovely Monday morning, however, power tools etc as stage taken down. Then I left
