Isolated from the city centre, room was correct but old and without charm
The two owners are very nice and helpful. The staff is also friendly. I would come back here only if they completely renovate the place.
Our room was at the ground floor, near the reception. We could hear all the talking at the reception and it was extremely noisy because of the road in front of us. The bathroom looked awful: the mirror was half broken and the shower was actually a hole in the wall. The location is quite far from the city center.
the manager is nice. big balcony facing a stream and hill.
a little smell. far from down town.
People is very nice
The voice of water is too noisy
We had a nice stay. The older man working was very friendly and helpful, his English was surprisingly outstanding. We had a good sleep, except for the dogs barking a lot.
The owner was a bit pushy.
A lovely, homely feel. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is amazing! Traditional, homemade Sri Lankan curries. Close to the town centre (25 min walk/ 5 min tuk tuk taxi) Provide their own taxi service to different tourist attractions on request.
Most locals did not know where the hotel was, took some explaining on occasions, (sometimes helped to say it was near Springfield college).
The manager and other stuff were all very helpful. In the hotel there are european electricity plugs. Wi fi is aveliable also in the room.
The room is nice but it would be much better if the walls are painted more often (just for estetic reason).
We were travelling with four kids aged 2 - 11 and therefore decided to have dinner on site both evenings. We did the same at different guesthouses around Sri Lanka, but can honestly say that the food served at Oakwood was the best! Truly home made, and plentiful. Make sure you try Lakshmi's gorgeous Masala tea before you leave. It was the best cuppa we had in our three weeks travelling. Rooms were spacious, but could do with a lick of paint.
Oakwood is located a ten - fifteen minute tuk tuk ride outside the centre of Kandy. We didn't mind this, but I can imagine some travellers would prefer to stay somewhere more central.
average food a little expensive
there is nothing special to say what we liked
most of the Barth room fittings were lose and the towel hanger fell down from the wall on my foot ,but luckly did not get hurt, no hot water in the mornings , no soap or shampoo the toilet lid was full of urination marks from the previous coustomer,.
veiw and asmall river stream running beside the hotel 7.0 for review
old furniture old bathroom facilty family run hotel
The onsite restaurant was very handy, we had a really good home style traditional Sri Lankan curry (slightly overpriced). Beware the owner does not mention that there is a menu with smaller meals on it, he just sells one item. A short tuk tuk ride to the centre of Kandy.
The room could have been cleaner. The owner initially appeared helpful but did not follow through. He was not readily available and was having some disagreement with one of the guests while we were there. The room was definitely overpriced, and in need of some updating and TLC in general. I would however stay there again if I was to visit Kandy.
