Score from 24 reviews Excellent
The hotel is very far away from the city. However, if you want to find a place that can relieve you from the busy and noisy urban life, this would be a wonderful place to go. The beach here is very beautiful and the pigeon island national park is very worth going. The food is okay, and you basically can only dine at the hotel cafeteria because that's the only restaurant nearby!!!
The wifi never really works
This hotel was very close to the beach and other attractions, staff an d meals very good. Will recommend this hotel to other friends.
There was nothing to comment.
Staff is excellent n the Food brilliant!
We booked 4 rooms , requested that 1 be made a single but the rate remained unchanged which we feel was unfair.
Rooms clean. Nice location.
Buffet overpriced and quality average. Meals area was flooded due to rain from open courtyard, apparently happens when there is heavy rain.
Great place just to relax. Everyone associated with the hotel was really helpful and friendly. Location was right on the beach. Sea far safer for swimming than many resorts on SW coast of the island. Food was first class and plenty of choice. Access by 3 wheeler into Trincomalee was straight forward. Improved road links with Dambulla and Kandy now make this NE coast far more accessible.
The weather is clearly outside the control of the hotel. Whilst it is sunny then the pool and beach are great. In wet weather, as in most beach resorts, options are limited and this may be an issue for families with small children. For us as more mature travellers it wasn't an issue.
the perfect place to lay down and relax. The restaurant serves excellent seafood and Patrick tha manager is very friendly and helpful
There is nothing near the hotel. We expected that Nilaveli would be a smaal town with some bars and restaurants but that is not the case. Ideal if you want to relax and want to enjoy miles of undiscoverd beaches with no tourism
Staff are nice here and have good service.Good environment.
traffic inconvenience.Flies around canteen.
Staff was courteous and pleasant. Ambience was good.
There is scope for improvement in the food. Breakfast was standard both days. There was no full size mirror in the room, only a small one in the toilet
Booked this hotel as there wasnt big selection of accommodation in this area. Thought it was pricey and wasnt really impressed by photos (mostly gym and corny photos of weddings:). But this hotel is amazing! How come it doesnt have better review score?!! Rooms are spacious and comfy, staff is smiley, lovely and helpful, food is fantastic (best grilled prawns EVER), breakfast bufet is hugh, sea and beach is one of the nicest I have seen and EMPTY (no hotels around), swimming pool (which I didnt even noticed when looking at photos) beautiful, whole hotel is very clean. There are cute squirels running around the hotel area:). 4 days of our stay there were only few guests and no kids - felt extremely relaxed, beautiful atmosphere.
Our stay was amazing and we were upgraded when we arrived. The manager was great helping us with getting around and also making esquires for us for travelling to the other side of the country. Beautiful place
Nice and expensive (for the Sri Lanka's standard) hotel. Very nice restaurant, good and rich food. Big room with a lot of space in the bathroom but not in line with the price. Nice massage treatment. Quite place and good sleep.
Bad service on the beach and facilities inadequate, E.G.: 9 sunshade parasol for 35 rooms. Restaurant service not in line with the price. Wi Fi practically not effective.
Good location to take a relaxing stop in a Sri Lanka country tour. Clean, good quality buffet and western style facilities. Pigeon Island boats are at 10 minutes walking.
The hotel is very expensive for what it is, and absolutely out of market taking into account Sri Lankan prices. The buffet is expensive as well and you dont't have any other option to eat because the hotel is far (very far) from any town.
- Beautiful location + beach - Well equipped, well maintained rooms - Relaxing place to stay
- Overpriced restaurant which tries to be a bit too pretentious - Staff are inattentive to some aspects (we had to ask twice to get more toilet paper when it ran out and housekeeping didn't replace it)
Position, in front of the Nilaveli beach with direct access to the sea and private umbrella and seats. Kindness of all the staff (they're a lot but all with the smile in their face and ready to help you). Quality of food (breakfast, lunch and dinner). Nice garden with swimming pool. Big room well equipped. Accommodation available for the drivers. Sea activities available on the beach.
We paied with credit card and they charged the cost of our stay directly in eur appling a disadvantageous convertion rate, pay attention. If possible, avoid Room 303.
good food, good staff, facilities of water sport.
the septic tank is placed between hotel and beach. So the stench of the wastwater treatment is felt on the beach, since the wind blows in summer from the landside. Since the hotel was built on a narrow strip of land, a better solution seems difficult.
Excellent location which gives you a feeling of exclusivity. Only a few people on the beautiful beach. Excellent service and tasty buffet/breakfast
it was just AMAZING to stay at Pigeon Island. people were so kind to help any time you need. even the owner kept in touch. also want to higlight the restaurant in hotel, cuisine is great, thanx to chef. prices were so value for money. the hotel has the direct way to beach. so i really think it is diamond of nilaveli beach. go go go!
Beautiful setting for a hotel in a beautiful setting. Would recommend upgrading to suite if available, which gives you a balcony and views of garden or sea, but not essential.Great food, great staff, great place.
great location with a beautiful view on pigeon island. beach is everything you'd expect from a tropical island and the hotel is right on it. The boat staff they use to take you snorkeling on the island is extremely nice and actually they'd tell you not to go to pigeon but to another one further away. now the hotel does not arrange for that other one that's why they don't tell you about it. so if you have a chance speak with the boat driver (you'll see him on the beach by the hotel) Staff was nice, seafood was incredible! room clean and comfi. hotel is a little isolated which for us worked fine as you can take a touk-touk everywhere for very cheap but some people might find it a bit secluded
one of the managers is clearly there for business and he'll try to sell you days out and activities a little too often. not enough cushions for the sun chairs on the beach sitting on wood is a little hard!
Nice beach, swimming pool, clean rooms. Good food.
Beware of beeing cheated - for first dinner we paid twice, that we 've noticed that to late. So be carrefour signing bills! Difficulties to get some table in air conditionig restauant, once we had to wait because of reservation of all tables.
Food, pool, secured beach, room and the service of courteous staff
Wish the rooms were a little more spacoius in the DELUXE category
Hotel on the beach which was clean. Rooms were comfortable. Staff were very attentive.
Bill for extras, eg food was presented in the local currency but when I got home & checked they had billed me in sterling.
Great food, lovely staff. Beach was amazing with beautiful white sand and really good for swimming. The hotel arranged a snorkelling trip to pigeon island where we saw turtles and reef sharks. Food was really good and breakfast was a feast.
Stuff always helpful and kind. They even let us use the facilities after the check-out, coming back from Pigeon Island. The room was clean, except for some ant, but it was not a big deal. Bathroom clean.
Some ant in the room, but not a big deal. Curtains too thin, let the sun light enter in the room in the morning, but it is a common problem at almost all the hotels we stayed in Sri Lanka
