Clean, few people live there in only six rooms, the decoration is good and good to my taste

No cheap washing-clothes nearby, few restaurants around, and few markets. You must take tuk tuk 2 km away to find them

From the check-in at Roman Beach until we left we had the best service from the staff. We went there for a weekend to celebrate our anniversary, and were surprised by a complimentary cake and a special flower arrangement on the bed. The room was also large, clean and very nice, with a beautiful view of the pool and ocean. We had dinner in the restaurant one evening, and even though relatively expensive it was very high quality food and a superb presentation that made it worth the price tag. Highly recommended!

Wifi for me never worked although worked at other hotels and restaurants . Need liquor license.

It is an absolutely fantastic hotel! It is not cheap, but it has a very high standard. The staff is unbelievable nice, the rooms are great. Food is excellent...

It is impossible to find poor things...

1) Staff are very friendly. 2) Decent food. 3) Quiet hotel as there are only 6 rooms. 4) Nice pool. 5) Big well furnished rooms (except for the ants) 6) Very clean bathrooms (except for the ants).

1) Beach in front of the hotel is not suitable for swimming. 2)Hotel had small red ants all around (room, near the pool & restaurant). 3) Room was still not ready on arrival (by 2:00 PM). 4) Hotel located around 2 km away from the local shops and other eateries. 5) Not worth the premium you pay 6) Had to make 2 call and wait for around half an hour for a mosquito coil to be placed in the balcony. 7) My flight from Colombo had got preponed by 12 hours and i had requested the onsite manager (though a friendly guy) check the possibility to check out a day earlier, he could not find me a solution for the same and told me that i will have to call their booking manager (who was not available onsite) to discuss on the same, the least i expected was the booking manager to be connected over phone by the hotel and not expect me to find a way to talk to him. I finally had my travel date postponed by a day to deal with the issue. 8) Final bill very difficult to understand (the format).

The staff were absolutely amazing! I asked them a custom request for Valentine's and they delivered perfectly and on top added some more surprises to make it even more special. The rooms are amazing, designed beautifully and best part is falling asleep to the sounds of the crashing waves. I will never forget this place and will always choose & recommend them.

Beautiful view, nice and modern rooms, friendly staff. The Sri Lankan breakfast is a much better option than the Western breakfast. Don't forget to order it the night before.

Food options were limited in general and esp for veggies and kids. staff took time to understand what we wanted. Their service could be improved with this respect. Also they have no tube etc.staffshould be forthcoming with suggestions and information. We didn't know that they had a life guard until much later. We missed coral watching as our driver gave more information than the hotel staff but by that time we had packed up.

The hotel has totally justified all expectations. Very good location: close to the not crowded beach, surf spot is not far away. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I loved the local cuisine, I think this is because of the chefs skills )))

I did not have a spa center in the hotel

We stayed in Casa Colombo and Heritance Kandlama during our trip which are very good hotels, but I felt Roman Beach was the best of the lot. Our room was great, literally on the beach, lovely pool, amazing staff who are very friendly and attentive. The views of the rolling waves as you open your balcony doors and relax on your bed is amazing. I never actually felt as relaxed and at peace as I did at this hotel and I am a stressful person. The food is nice and very cheap. The hotel well located for local restaurants and bars just a short walk or tuctuc away. I would massively recommend this hotel if you want relaxation and stress free break.

No drinks licence yet. Could do with a spa although there is a man on the beach who can help.

Roman Beach is without doubt the nicest place to stay in Hikkaduwa. It is expensive compared to the other options down the beach, but you get what you pay for. The rooms (especially the top floor) are lovely with a great view across the pool to the beach. The bathroom is pretty cool, with floor to ceiling glass which means you can look out to the sea while sitting in the jacuzzi bath :-). (There are blinds if you need some privacy!) The staff are also great, in particular a guy called Pradeep. Amazing guy! Upon arrival it can feel like they are being over friendly, but you soon realise that it is genuine.

Overpriced if you think in rupees.

presentation and quality of the food, room design, service levels, staff, overall layout of hotel, beach access, swimming pool, restaurant, and particularly the laid back approach of the staff while still delivering a top class service.

It would be challanging to critise any aspect of our stay at this wonderful place, however other facilities in the area in which it is located, had a tendancy to seriously overcharge. Avoid the Blue moon restaurant - They tried to charge us 4,400 rupees for 2 rice and curry dishes, similar to what we had in the nearby Refresh restaurant for aproxx 25% of the price. When we challanged this the manager tried to fob us off by saying that it was not on the menu, and carried this price as a special. After 10 minutes of debate he eventually agreed to the same price as refresh.

It is not perfect but moving towards it, the informality gives it character not good choice of deserts should concentrate on fruit based deserts as the fresh local produce is excellent

I like the fact that the hotel was small and therefore it would never get too busy. The staff were really friendly and looked after us. We ate there and the food was great value for money. They have not compromised on the room or balconies. They don't have a bar but were happy for you to bring your own. I have already recommended it to friends here. It's a little gem. I will definitely return. Itsba great place to stay and relax

Le petit repproche c'est qu'il n'y pas d'activités dans l'hotel mais ce n'est pas ce que recherchait d'autre hotel moins luxe le vont dans le coin.

The location is outside of the center, but in actuality this is a good thing. This is a brand new boutique hotel at a bargain price. The staff is young and as others have said they need a little polish. It's not that thayer aren't around it is more that they don't have the focus on the client. There is a little language issue, even though everyone speaks English. I asked a number of times if they served diner and either they didn't understand the question or didn't want to work that evening but was told no they didn't, yet when we returned from dinner on the last evening they were serving dinner. The dining room is open air and very Attractive. The rooms are enormous and as nice as they look on line they are far better in reality. The pool is very large and the beach you will have to yourself.

Greate hotel whit private beach, situated in a peaceful place but not far away from center. Services was excellent and people were amazing and very helpful. Food was good too (variety of european and Sri lankan). After spending few days in this place it is hard to find something better.

It was only a few months old when I stayed there and the owners/management must have invested a huge amount to make it what it is: a wonderful boutique-style resort. The rooms are amazing: really well-designed, spacious, well-furnished with luxury fittings. The pool is lovely. And the food was exceptional. It's away from Hikkaduwa town so was peaceful and is situation on a stretch of beach that was very quiet. It would be a wonderful place to have a honeymoon.

My only minor annoyance was that they asked me to change room on my second night in order to accommodate a family who were staying for longer. But they asked me very politely and explained the situation - and to be fair they upgraded me to a room with a jacuzzi. Also they don't have an alcohol licence, but there is a resort next door where you can walk over to have a few beers by the beach.
