I am thankful to all the employees including the management for helping to make my holiday beautiful.

The site seeing of historical places were the best.
The site seeing of historical places were the best. Most of the time we ate at the hotel and visited some locals and shared a meal with them. We hired a vehicle during the tour, This gave us the flexibility to get around. Net time I'll try to get there in the cooler months, mid December.

Lot of ancient locations and relics.
Lot of ancient locations and relics. Can gain much information about historical Polonnaruwa era of Sri Lanka. Spread is in close vicinity and can cover all areas even without a travel guide. My favourite places were Parakrama Samudraya, museum, King Parakramabahu's castle and office, Gal Viharaya, Thiwanka Pilima geya, Vatadage, Hetadage and Sathmahal Prasadaya.
There are places to eat in Polonnaruwa new town (Very close by). We dined at NS Tomatoes where the service was good.

It's worth making the effort to see the far northern and far...
It's worth making the effort to see the far northern and far southern area too.... and don't forget to check out the back roads in the quadrangle group. The site is full of tourists, but almost nobody at the above mentioned places.

Polonnaruwa has impressive archeological and historic areas...
Polonnaruwa has impressive archeological and historic areas which are in good conditions despite of the years. The Minneriya National Park, the Dambulla cave temple and the Sigiriya Rock are also near and it makes Polonnaruwa a perfect base to visit all of them. We would strongly recommend to others.

We stayed about 14km outside polonnaruwa on lake giritale.
We stayed about 14km outside polonnaruwa on lake giritale. We got a tuk tuk into town (1500 rupees) and hired bikes for the day (1000 rupees each). We found a cycle route online and followed that, which took us to all the main sites. It was hot but we had a great time. Stop for a drink at the EKO hotel on the lake- a great spot!
We were greeted with welcome drinks and 2 very friendly brothers. During our stay we had the most delicious food at the hotel! Wow it was unreal! The rooms were great, the swimming pools and garden were beautiful and the sunset was incredible! We can not thank them enough for helping arrange transport for us all the way to Sigiriya and then on to Kandy. Your family are so kind, helpful and made us feel extremely welcome. Thank you so so much!
It was such a remarkable stay in a house of a Sri Lankan family. The host was always willing to help with any of our requests, even when he really didn't have to.
And the dinner requires a separate appraisal - the best food in Sri Lanka so far - real homemade dishes, so tasteful, and the portions were huge, make sure to try.
Too bad we didn't have time for a safari, it would've been awesome without a doubt.
Thank you so much, Kelum!
We were treated like family. It felt like our home. The family who owns and operates the hotel are the nicest, sweetest people we met in Sri Lanka. The hotel has good AC, reliable hot water, is clean and has a nice breakfast. It is in a quiet neighborhood very close to the ruins, and you can walk to the reservoir to watch gorgeous sunsets. The family was a highlight of our trip to Sri Lanka. We cannot thank them enough.
Fantastic location in terms of close to Polonnaruwa archeological site - and actual hotel is next to lake - masses of bird life, and fishermen launch boats from adjacent “beach”. Staff super friendly and helpful. Nice pool with plenty of sun-loungers - in shade if required. Pleasant restaurant area - gigantic lobster-like prawn very tasty. Really good Sri Lankan breakfast - delicious. excellent value.
Beautiful, clean, spacious room. There are two very nice new buildings with two units each. The garden is lovely and we sat on the balcony and watched the birds. Breakfast was exceptional and plentiful & dinner was the best that we had in Sri Lanka, everything was fresh and flavorful. Kithmi is away from the main road so it is quiet and peaceful. I highly recommend Kithmi Resort, it is a true gem.
The owner was very polite and friendly. He helped us in finding the bus from Trincomalee to Polonnaruwa and also arranged a tuktuk with a reasonable price from bus station to property and also for visiting attractions.
We ordered launch which was very delicious and in a good price. He prepared food for two person but charged only for one.
a small restaurant and a small supermarket were nearby.
Gorgeous location overlooking the lake and directly across the street from the archeology museum. Attentive service. Fantastic Sri Lankan curry served in an Inviting dining room. Gracious service. Expert management who helped us hire great tuk tuk driver with excellent English for a late afternoon tour after the crowds had gone. This hotel was the high point of our trip to Sri Lanka so far.
Our stay at Hotel Anaulundawa was exceptional, with special mention to the outstanding service by Nimal. The rooms were spacious and spotlessly clean. The breakfast was delightful, featuring excellent fruit choices. Ample parking space and a tranquil location added to the overall charm. Highly recommend!
Very friendly and helpful host, offered us a lot of tips about Polonnaruwa, rented us bikes, organized Tuktuk when we needed it and helped us with continuing our journey. He also gave us his phone number and said we could contact him anytime if we need help in Sri Lanka. Highly recommended!
-We stayed at 9 guesthouses and 3 hotels while we stayed in SL for a month. They had the FASTEST WiFi (SLT Fiber)! Since they have a generator, the modem stayed on even during a power cut.
-The owner was more professional than other guesthouse owners. Very pleasant
Family guest house. I felt welcomed from all family. The house is right next to the UNESCO heritage site. simple rooms but you have everything you need when you travel around sri lanka. you can also take a sagari right from the owner. i will really come back soon.
Some of the rooms are provided with an amazing view on rice fields where you can see sunset.
Good location for accessing an animal city of Polonnaruwa, owner also provide bike rental which helps with going around and see ruins of the second capital of Sri Lanka.
It’s a decent place to stay if you visit the area. The territory of the hotel is nice and the stuff is helpful if you ask them to.
When we asked them about additional blankets, they brought us some and they helped us we bags. The view from the rooms is nice.
The place has an excellent location and magnificent garden, one can relax peacefully around the nature... Quiet, tranquil and safe... Breakfast was Sri Lankan style and quite fulfilling... I would totally return to this place...
Location was perfect. The room interior and ambience was classy and retained sri lankan features. Spectacular view. And service was par excellence. Didnt have enough. Definitely coming back for more.
We loved the stay at the hotel. The owner and staff were amazing. Their cooking was even more amazing. Service was 10/10. The facilities were also extremely clean.
