The "resort" was clean. Good hot water supply. Decent rooms - some have their own terraces (but not the one I was given). Not sure why it is called a "resort" rather than simply - a hotel. Close to the cave temple site - five minutes walk. Though it didn't affect me personally, the nice lady owner/manager said that guests were normally expected back in the "resort" by 9.30pm! I thought the room prices were excessive for what you got.

The room was wonderful, bathroom very clean and spacious, nice outdoor area to enjoy as well. A nice walk to Dambulla caves. The price in rupees is exuberant after they added a 25% tax! This is the only hotel in Sri Lanka that added this insane tax charge. Also, ordered food which was not that good and it's overpriced as well. Would not return due to the price, not worth it, but it's a nice place.

Clean and friendly, brilliant location to walk to golden temple and caves. Quiet area, relaxing. We saw lovely birds and the garden was kind of tended. The staff were very polite and couteous and were helpful if needed. They even took us to a restaurant in tuk tuk. You can buy a Lion beer in this hotel and drink out on the veranda! Not much else to do and few eating/bar places.

Welcoming and helpful staff, good food, large room, pleasant veranda for meals and flowers on tables. Easy location to find. Convenient for rock temples. Switches behind bed were inconvenient. Lack of cold water for shower. Serving staff very attentive but hovered a little too close while we were eating.

Provides all the requirements of the traveller: Clean and modestly attractive room, fan, AC, good shower and bath facilities. Staff is attentive and capable. Great location near the temple caves. Food is adequate. Food service somewhat disorganized. Price is too high.

The location is excellent for visitations to 4 World Heritage sites. It is for budget travelers, not tourists, so lacks some amenities that tourists like.

Good location, set back from road. Friendly staff. We only tried a small selection of dishes in the evening but they were all enjoyable and well cooked. Room was a decent size. Reasonable value for money. Intermittent wi-fi during our stay, not a big problem though. Some animal on the roof the first night made a lot of scratching noise that made sleeping difficult for a while. Shower area has a part that is open to the outside, we would have preferred the area closed to keep out mosquitos.

And they serve delicious breakfast and you can see many monkeys when you have breakfast. all staffs are very kind and peaceful place. Facilities are little old. many moskitos will bite you.

Location near to Dambulla cave temple. Staff attentive and friendly. The room was a long way from matching what we expected from the website. We had dinner in the guest house and were disappointed by the quality and quantity of food for the price. Overall we found the hotel very overpriced for its basic quality and comfort; it was of "guest house" level, not hotel or resort. It has little garden or patio space. We were so dissatisfied that we stayed just one of the two nights booked and paid for. (On checkout the manager waived the bill for our dinner.)

It was located right next to Dambulla Golden Temple and was half the price off other hotels in the area It was pretty much what I expected for the money, the bed was a little uncomfortable, and in my parents room the mattress was 8 inchs smaller than the bed. Personally I struggled putting the mosquito net on in a decent way, as the bed is quite low, the sides of the net laid on the bed meaning if your use to sleeping anywhere near the edge of the bed you get a face full of net. The toilet did flush but the tank did not fill up so you had to manually put some water in there (the jet next to the toilet made this easy enough) but the flush had almost zero power behind it, and when I first arrived the toilet had a ball of black hair in it and my parents room had no toilet paper. Even though we were made to wait 30 minutes before we could get in the rooms (what where they doing?) we arrived well past the 12:00pm check in time at 4:00pm, so the wait should not have been needed. The shower did not get hot either, and my parents room had a big problem with ants in the bathroom, although there shower and toilet did work. BEWARE: DO NOT USE THE HOTELS DRIVER!!! We went for a meal out at one of the nicer hotels in the area, and used the Sundaras driver to come and collect us afterwards, now this was partly our own fault for:- A. Not asking the price before hand. (We would never had used them at we know the price) and B. Making a mistake of which hotel we were at, an honest mistake but we were treated as if we had done it on purpose! For what possible reason we would want to sit and wait an extra 25 minutes because the taxi is at the wrong hotel, I do not know but that is how we were made to feel. All in all it took 1 hour for what should have been 30 minutes drive (they counted the time from the moment I called for them to pick us up until we were dropped back at the hotel, not how a normal taxi service works.) We were only 8km away from the Hotel but we had mistakenly thought we were at a different hotel 2kms further down the road.

The pictures, the price and the reality of Sundaras was completely different. The good points were the hotel's location was very close to the Rock Temple walking distance. The workers were very willing helpful and allowed us to check out late. The food was not bad. The bad points were the rooms were of a very low standard, the bathroom smelt. There were cockroach wings on the bed and the ground. The room was not very clean and the decor was very poor. For this price in Thailand or Malaysia you would get a really high standard of Hotel.

The place is a dump! They advertise a restaurant and buy take away for you, which was disgusting! They can't keep drinks cold! There is no water pressure. I ran out of water while having a shower! We checked out after one night and we were booked in for two, it was better to forfeit the money than stay one more night there! If you. Have a choice find somewhere else to stay! They didn't even make up our rooms!

Fairly large triple room 1. Location is far away from Dambulla and Sigiriya. You must have a vehicle at your disposal 2. Bathroom was wiered. There was an instant water heater which was not heating water properly. 2 out of the 3 bulbs in the bathroom were fused and never replaced. There was a huge opening in the wall thru which mosquitoes were easily entring the room. 3. The room was poorly lit with no windows. 4. Mosquito net was not fitting the bed propoerly and creating trouble in the night 5. No TV in the room 6. No food in the so called restaurent and lizards wondering here and there 7. Unfriendly staff at front desk. 8. Credit card did not work.I was made to travel to Dambulla town to find a bank to get some cash and pay my bill, which delayed our departure by an hour that morning 9. No propoper Tax invoice was given. The so called invoice given did not have the hotel name, number, address on it. Though I was charged the tax amunt I am not sure if it was paid to the Sri Lankan government! 10. Don't go for this one just for the sake of saving some $$$

We stayed with our 5 year old daughter and 70year old aunt and all enjoyed our stay. The staff is wonderful and very helpful in making plans for day trips Dambulla is a great town about a 4-5 hour drive to Colombo. We are already planning our next trip to Sri Lanka and will gladly stay here and plan day trips to the other towns. We can not speak highly enough of the friendlyness of the staff they made our stay very enjoyable!! :0)

The main reson we choose Sundaras Resort was because of the location and the price. But our Expectations were Exceeded. We were welcome with a fruit cocktail. staff were very friendly! Our rooms were very clean.First we thought the food was expensive but not after we receive our dishes on our table.Overall perfect Hotel. we would recommend for anyone. It is not a 5 star hotel but the service is better than 5 star.

The location is perfect for visiting the city's historic sites and of the area sites ( around 60-70 km) as well. The staff do their best to please the guests. The price was too much for a basic a/c room, the same with the charge for dinner. Just outside of the room that I got there was a balcony where meals were served, sometimes it was too noisy for me.
