This is a great location to stay if you want to visit the national parks and My Village will organise safaris to the four parks in the area either a half or full day. We were there the first time for safari. We had a tour to the Buddha by the sea…amazing. This time we were passing through on our way to Ella. We ate at Red Pizza which was just as good second time round.

Was in Tissamaharama for Yala Safari, had booked the early morning Safari. Disappointed with the Safari as there were very few animals except.for.peacocks and spotted dear. Later into the ride our jeep driver and guide revealed we had entered through block 5 of the Safari and most the animals(Leopard, Bears) mostly are sighted in block 1 and 2. Block 1 and 2 were closed that day, maybe just our luck. So I guess check, with the Safari organizer before booking your safari as it quite expensive. Basically disappointed ☹️

Very good base for safari to Yala or Bundala parks. I' went to Bundala as I've never been to park with big wetlands and I think it was a great choice. We've seen numerous types of birds, lizards, monkeys, jackals, mangooses, bufallos, crocodiles and also few elephants😊 I didn't stay in center of Tissa but still was able to find nice restaurants, like Smoky Kitchen (recommended).

The pool and jacuzzi set in the palm trees is beautiful! Our room was very spacious, with firm but comfortable beds, good AC, as well as a good shower with products provided. Wifi was also good. The hotel owner was extremely welcoming and let us try Sri Lankan Arrack, which was fun! As we were there over Sinhalese New Year, we also enjoyed complementary tea and biscuits. We dined at the hotel too and the local cuisine was delicious.

The owner organized a great safari for us and helped us a lot with using the public transport in Sri Lanka because there is very little information online. We also went to a really cool bat place the owner told us about. Also, I think the town of Tissa is a bit overlooked - it’s worth visiting even if you’re not going to do a safari
