Really lovely friendly and attentive staff. Great position just behind the beach.
The overall appearance is very decent. It almost feels in the middle of a rain forest. The food was pretty good. They offer good sea food and also some western food. The reataurant area is very inviting. Within 5 minutes you are at the beach. The offer ayurveda treatings - very welcome ;),
The hotel seems to have different buildings. We were accommodated in the not so new part. The bedroom was very nice, but the bathroom was not so new - however, acceptable.
Beautiful rooms, friendly staff and awesome surroundings. Close enough to walk to cafés etc and also beautiful jungle beach.
Yoga here was very disappointing, loud and not very relaxing.
Staff were lovely
Only 4 sunbeds at pool
The hotel is comfortable and clean. Location is good also.
The hotel give us a room, which is next to the restaurant and swimming pool without any privacy and very noise. we ask for change the room. They give us a room which is not in the hotel area but next to their hotel. However, At least it is quiet. But no wi-fi there.
Smelly room and bed sheets, poor food. One could not even get a cup of tea despite asking.
Nice breakfast. I would recommend this hotel to older couples or single travlers looking for a luxury spa hotel.
We got a room just on top of the kitchen, outside our room there was a yogo session every morning. For us that wanted to sleep in on our vacation this was very disturbing. It was luxurios atmosphere, not relaxed. We left this hotel earlier than planned. Wifi didn't work in our room and we had alot of ants in the bathroom. If you are a young couple or traveling with children I would not recommend this hotel. Wild dogs outside the hotel during the night. If you get a room up the hill you will probably have a better experience than we had.
The swimming pool. Good breakfast. Nice restaurant area
Nothing to dislike.
everything is fine. the best restaurant in the hotel district. cook very tasty.
Very friendly, quick to respond, best good value food around, quiet, lovely with the baby.
The fact that deluxe rooms were up several flights of stairs - not mentioned as a result did not see room as breathless before reaching. Could not give us correct standard room as none available on lower floors - as a result only stayed one night. Great shame nothing about amount of stairs when booking. Amazing location and lovely staff
wi-fi was only near the reception working
Thambapanni Retreat really is a retreat from the hustle bustle of the mainstream Unawatuna hotels and cafes. It is only 200 metres from the strip but is lost in a wonderful rainforest environment.
The restaurant manager is moody if you do not dine there every evening.
The morning yoga and ayurvedic treatments The simple but freshly prepared food and the pleasant restaurant service The comfy bed The nice helpful staff
The service was a little rushed at meal times Occasionally over pushy managers
Beautiful setting massages were amazing room was like a dream up in the hills
Lovely hotel with really helpful and friendly staff in a relaxing environment
very friendly staff and service
Clean, beautifull room (we we're staying in the 'new' building) and super friendly staff! We've stayed in three hotels in unawatuna, this one has best value for money for sure!
location was excellant
hotel was very closed in and overgrown with vegetation, therfor lacking in fresh air. we had booked a duble twin and got a double bed so they put a single bed in the room which made it overcrowded, for a delux room it was below par.
Friendly and accommodating staff
Friendly staff. Airport transfers arranged for us. Lovely room. Good location.
Breakfast could have been much better.
Awesome place to stay which is very neat. Their pool is great, rooms are kitschy and fun and the balcanies are very relaxing. Staff is quick to respond to your needs and overall this was a great stay for us. A 2 min walk to unawatuna beach.
Very peaceful retreat with a lovely balance of nature and close proximity to the seaside. Like having 2 holidays in one. Nice head massage from a very skilled ayurvedic doctor. Pool not too busy.
nice pool monkeys swinging in the trees above relaxed short walk from beach really good value for Unawatuna We would recommend this place to other travellers
a lot of insects hanging around Pool too small for proper swimming, so more appropriate for a refreshing dunk : )
Very nice and budget-friendly hotel in the middle of a 'jungle'! You can hear the birds singing and frogs croake and simply relax. The Spa treatments and early morning Yoga are a very nice extra and make this hotel one of kind in Unawatuna.
