Thambapanni Retreat    

Perfect hideaway from the beach area. Very calm and relaxing place with extremely helpful staff. We were looked after very well.

The lock didn't work in the room. We felt a bit unsafe.

The food we had was pretty good.

The location was not so good as you have to like 800m - 1km inside from the main road. The staff is really very slow.Our room was just above the kitchen so there was lot of noise in the morning and there were lot of insects also in the room, i found a spider web on our bed which was removed by the staff.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The pool was very good and shaded. The people staying at the hotel were nice.

Our room was convenient to the facilities - but we couldn't open the windows as it was in a very public location on the ground floor. We couldn't get proper blankets. The room chairs were poor.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Wonderful setting in lush garden, good sized well equipped and clean rooms. Very good breakfast and dinner. Nice and clean little pool. Good location.

It would help to cover the ventilation opening in the bathroom with mosquito net. Sometimes towels was removed without replacing them, and sometimes we had to ask for soap or toilet paper.

Food good.

I was told I had 3 luxury rooms .1 was poor so we moved to another hotel. Pool hours are pathetic.driveway hopeless.

The bathrooms are extremely run down. I was there for a night only (thankfully) and just couldnt get myself to shower. It is located in the extreme interiors

People in restruant is very patient.

The swimming pool is so small. Doesn't like to offer free accommodation to the driver. Want to give you very low currency exchange rate when you check out.

We' ve never seen the so horrible in our life. And we travel too much and always reserve our hotels with booking.com. Very little rooms , the description doesn't correspond to reality. Without windows or total impossibility to open windows because outside it's full of people. Swimming pool like a bath tub, horrible staff, very noisy and dirty. Without any respect for customers. Near there are too much hotels with too much better value for money, service and ubication.to avoid absolutely.

Absolutely Nothing

Located far away from Galle city. If you are on a budget trip, you should not take this hotel as it is way away from the highway as well, means you have to pay a lot to the tuk-tuk guys.. Beds are shaky.. Mattress is not that great. Bathroom doesn't have water to wash your butt (you need it if you are an Indian) Swimming pool is more like a pond.. they better put fishes there..

there is a problem with religeous chanting between 4 and 6 pm which can be annoying if you want to spend quiet times on your balcony.

Wilderness and wildlife.

The hotel setting was excellent. We stayed at the top room. Although a bit of climb to get to, being that high in the trees was truly spectacular. Had excellent view of playfull monkies as well as great spot to be to watch the rain fall.

I was initially annoyed that it took us 40 minutes to check in. Our room was not ready and they kept saying it would just be 5 minutes. That was not a good way to start things off. If it's going to be 40 minutes, then just tell me the truth so we don't have to sit their waiting the whole time.

It was close to the beach.

Our room was up 99 outdoor odd sized steps. It didn't have a phone line and it was unsafe to come out of our room during heavy rain as steps became very slippy. Pool was at the very side of reception and very shaded, Not a good place for relaxing after a day out exploring.

The room was magnificient. Extremely quiet and relaxing. We got upgraded to room no. 6 - the best room. We were delighted! Loved being amongst the nature and had monkeys visiting us which was lots of fun. The breakfast was also very good. The massage was worth the wait for sure. But make sure you say exactly what you want so you don't have to pay for extra. The staff were wonderufl, so much fun and very talkative and helpful.

Nothing!! Everything was top class as far as Boutique Hotel should be under a boutique hotel standards.

A wonderful setting, nestled into the jungle and just a short (5 minute max) walk to the beach. The pool area is lush and it feels like you're swimming in a clear jungle stream. But the very best thing about Thambapanni is the restaurant. We rarely eat at hotel restaurants but we just couldn't get enough of this one. After trying many of the restaurants in town I am confident that Thambapanni has the best and most creative curry dishes, including a beet root curry that blew our minds. The Sri Lankan breakfast is equally delicious, make sure you ask for it the night before.

We gained weight staying there because the food was too good. There was some mold in our bathroom which could have been scrubbed away. But it is a hot and humid climate so this is somewhat nit-picking.
